Hey Ivy! Congrats on taking the first step: seminar. A couple of questions off the top of my head that I really wanted to know were. 1. How long has the Dr. been placing bands? 2. How many do they place in a month? 3. What's their personal stats, as far as slips and erosions? 4. What band do they use? 5. How much are fills? I'll hit u up later if I think of any more.

Girl i'm happy to see that you are doing good. I know it feels great to be on the other side. I can't wait! I'm ready to get this show on the road! Started pre-op on the 9th and it's going well. My doc is Kirshenbaum in Colorado. I'm self pay so I had to find a good doc I could afford. You know starting something for the Atl crew is a great idea. Count me in!

Congrats on the date! Time will fly and it will be here before you know it. I started my pre-op no carb diet the other day. It hasn't been so bad, but only time will tell.

Hey Daqui26, Sorry it has taken me so long to get back! I start my pre-op on the 9th to. My doc only talked about protein drinks after surgery. I'm going to do a shake by Visalus until it runs out. It's so good but a little expensive! Taste like cake batter! Then i'll try unjury. I hope thats good. You have to let me know how it taste. I have to be careful with those shakes. I'm lactose intolerant and they all seem to have just the right amount of milk to make me sick, so i'm on the look out for a good one to.

Hi Daqui, I'm having surgery the same day in Colorado. Starting my no carb pre-op diet on the 8th. What kind of pre-op will your dr. have you on?

Had phone consult with my Dr. today and he put me on a 2 week high protein no carb diet. Sort of like southbeach and atkins but I can still eat fruit. Bread and pasta are my bestfriends so they will be hard to give up. Going to start trying that now so I can get a real great jump off to success.

Hey! I'm glad to see more Atl people on here. I had a friend that used Titus for bypass. She said he was great. I'm self pay and had to find someone in my price range. Traveling to Colorado to be banded by Dr. Kirshenbaum. Let me know when you get your date! Good luck!

How to deal with unsupportive friends/family

Hi Deekel, Two years ago I did the very same thing you did. I tested my friends and family by asking their opinions about bariatric surgery. I got some crazy responses and was hurt by some of them "why would you do that" "that doesnt make sense" "you aren't meant to be skinny" "you should workout and watch your portions" blah blah blah. In the end I didn't have surgery, and here I am now bigger than ever. This time around my attitude is different. I'm having surgery 7/23 and I don't care to know what "they" think. I have only told a few important people. The others don't matter right now. The truth is "they" don't know enough about it to give a valid opinion anyway. My health and happiness is up to me not them and yours is too. Sometimes we need to take a moment for ourselves and forget about all the "theys" in our life and think about YOURSELF. As you will read in this forum, the Lapband works with who works with it. If you are as tired as everyone else is, you will have to forget about "they" and think about you. I hope you are able to find peace in our decision. -
Not banded yet. I'm set for 7/23! Do you have a date yet or do you have to wait until you finish the 6 month process. I'm a little clueless when it comes to what insured people have to do. May insurance doesnt cover any type of bariatric. I'm from Atlanta but i'll be traveling to Colorado to get my band.

Hey mgmagnolia and 1hotchocolate my date is pretty close to yours. Surgery date set for 7/23 with Dr. Kirshenbaum. I'm self pay too! I'm just anxious and ready to get going. I will be on a low carb diet 10 to 7 days prior to surgery so i'm guessing that shouldn't be so bad. Right now I feel like July can't get here soon enough! -
Hi everybody, I have a 7/23 date! I'll be traveling to Colorado to be banded by Dr. Kirshenbaum since i'm self pay. I can't wait to start this journey! I wish everyone the best in their process.
