  1. i did Water aerobics and aqua zumba 3 times a week, 60 mins. walk, walk, walk. i just started a "land" zumba class, 60 mins, and got on an elliptical. i can do 10 mins level 3/incline1 before my thighs plead for mercy. maybe next time i'll try 12 whole mins. my surgeon said, now that i've lost 160 lbs, i should get OUT of the water. your body needs some low impact activities to prevent osteoperosis.

  2. i sang a solo 10 days after my sleeve(not scheduled that way, surgery date was moved). i had to take little catch breaths in longer phrases, but my high notes soared! my range has shifted up about 3 notes. was a bass with some strong low notes, now a baritone, heading into lyric baritone range! i'm 6 months post op and STILL use the spirometer (breathing thing with the piston)4,5,6 times a day to increase lung capacity. i have been singing bass since 7th grade, these new high notes are fun!

  3. for the front page of my food journal i made a sign, in great, big letters(36 i think)"BECAUSE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT..." Are you tracking those"bites"?... just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD... any food that goes into my mouth, i must be sitting at a table, eating from a plate, with silverware. no standing in the kitchen munching from a pan...no sitting in front of the t.v. munching from a bag. you're starting some bad habits that could kick you in your it's-not-as-small-as-i-wish-it-was butt. just be careful and good luck.

  4. i'm 6 months post op. have lost 157 lbs with 48 bmi. i have been doing Water aerobics 3x per week. i went to(and finished!)my first "land" zumba class of 60 mins. i have also just started on an elliptical(very hard!) i can do 10 mins on level 1/incline 1. i don't have a phone i can download apps on. i'm looking toward spring and the possibility that i will be ABLE to enter a race is mind bending. PLEASE, tips for training.

  5. at 5 weeks out i was drinking 80 oz of Fluid a day INCLUDING my smoothies. i kept fluid next to me at all times; from when i got up until about 8 pm, or i would be up all night. experiment with bigger sips, small mouthfuls and see how it feels. you almost need to have the mentality of a nurse pushing fluids on a feverish child. i am almost 6 months post op and routinely drink 96 oz a day. for me, this is enough and i will stay at this level. this helps with keeping things moving, too. congrats on your successes.

  6. a concern for me as well. a half sleeve®, shoulder and upper arm(l), and across my upper chest. so far things seem to be fine even with 150 lost. REALLY glad i never inked my stomach or thighs! not really many options any way. better health is by far the best ink i have ever had.

  7. i'm still in the bronze age, so the only apps i get are at a restaurant. i would like to dangle the carrot of a 5 K in front of me. i've lost 150 and am 365 today. don't think the knees could handle it yet. any suggestions on training. i do 60 mins Water aerobics 3 x a week, and have JUST started on an elliptical (15 mins level 1). IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN BE IT.

  8. Work days.....up at 4:30. Premier Protein shake & my Vitamins go down......coffee is making while I grab a shower and get dressed.

Fill up a travel mug of coffee, Splenda and a shot of Fairlife 2% milk.

30 oz bottle of Water in hand all day at work.......refilling it throughout the day. I drink a ton of Water.< /p>

Work meals are pouches of tuna, grilled chicken breast and other similar eats from the cafeteria.....or I take my own grilled stuff from home.

Days off.......wake up and mix a shake and do the coffee thing. Last few days I've had fun grilling and chilling.....while wrapping up the Christmas gifts that UPS guy keeps dropping off. Fun times.

  9. i used to drink kombucha pre op for Probiotics not in a pill. i'm 5 months post sleeve today, and am eating a little fermented foods daily(sauerkraut, pickles). i am about to start making kefir. does anyone drink kombucha? it is VERY mildly alcoholic and effervescent. would that little bit of carbonation cause problems? i'm just trying to make some really smart/healthy choices.

  10. my starting weight was 515. too high a bmi for lap band. other than my size, no other health issues. so no medical reason for bypass. my doctor steered me towards the sleeve(a decision i had already made after much research). one month of liquid pre-op, 480 the day of surgery, 365 today. a 150 lb loss on 5 month post op date. i am very happy with my choice. it is saving my life. do your research, but follow your heart. good luck!
