I love this thread. We teens of the 1960's are still behaving radically and shaking up the status quo by having WLS "at our age." And as one kind member reminded me, we still have 30 years to go!

Tonight at my house...souvlaki. Basically pork tenderloin marinated in lemon, olive oil and fresh oregano. I will slice it, skewer it, and put it on the grill. Serve it up with a green salad and tzatziki sauce( yogurt, garlic and cucumber....Yum!
Usually I would serve it with rice (pre-op) but tonight maybe sweet potato.

I found apps like "loseit" and vigilantly tracking what I eat helpds and keeps me focussed. Right now your full time job is to get to goal. Each morning, determine what you are going to eat for the day and stick with it. Look through the recipes here and other sites and prepare them.
    Good Luck. It's a battle.

Hi! My surgery date was also 9/21/15! SW 288 when I began the process, 251 day of surgery. CW is 229. Doing great so far, feel really old tho, I'm 59, yal are so young!! I'm married, almost 36 years, 1 daughter, 2 grandkids, great son-in-law. I also work full-time. I had the surgery cause I could not breathe without wheezing, no stamina whatsoever, could hardly walk, and hubby swears I snored like a freight train!! lol. And all my joints hurt terribly. No high blood pressure or diabetes, just fluffy. Now tho, I do not snore, I do not hurt near as much, and I'm beginning to see changes. So glad I was able to do this!

I'm a year out and can't finish a hot dog with a bun. I can eat a whole hot dog but no bread. If I eat the bun I can eat about half. No point in eating the bun so I skip it.

mmincinci reacted to irishaggie in bbq guys that love to cook and drink good red wine
Good to know! I am 1 month out and had gastric bypass. I am a lover of good red wines (and the occasional great chardonnay!) and missing out on these passions has been one of my biggest worries and one of the things I've mourned the most... For me, drinking wine is not about getting drunk on it... it is the ritual of it all. Uncorking a good bottle, pouring into a good glass, and sipping my way through the evening was thoroughly relaxing for me. I miss that ritual (miss the buzz a little too, to be honest, lol). I hope I can have healthy relationship with wine again in my future, one that does not sabotage my success and health. Nice to know that there are others out there that have achieved this themselves!

    Low Carb Breakfast Casserole
    2 lbs ground sausage
    8 ounces softened cream cheese
    1/2 small onion, diced
2 jalapeno peppers, diced (or 1/2 green pepper)
12 well-beaten eggs (season with salt and pepper)
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mexican blend)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with non-stick cooking spray. Brown sausage and drain excess grease. Press sausage into the bottom of pan. Break cream cheese into pieces and evenly distribute on top of sausage. Sprinkle with onions and peppers. Pour eggs over the sausage mixture. Add shredded cheese to the top.
Bake for 25 minutes, until eggs are just set. Allow to cool for about 5 minutes before cutting.

    So.... Let's share!
What is your favorite meal post op? If you can, post a recipe, or a general idea of what's in it. I've never differentiated breakfast/lunch/dinner so you don't need to either.
Low carb is definitely preferred, real food, not pre-made or frozen.
Simple recipes rule, crock pot recipes that the family loves are even better!
    GO!

I made my oat brand and it was fabulous!! I added cinnamon, fresh blueberries, vanilla and a touch of Splenda brown sugar! So good! Just as I suspected I could only handle 1/2 of a serving but that's ok! I took a picture of my healthy breakfast next to my husbands and what I USE to eat. It's amazing and I don't miss it one bit!!! I cooked it for him.

@@Alex Brecher I've used the egg beaters southwestern style. I like to sautéed veggies, turkey crumbles, and cheese in a muffin pan and cover it with the egg beater. When it's done baking it makes perfect portions for on the go. I just grab one and heat it for 45 seconds. That's one of my favorites when I'm working and have to be out of the house by 4:30 am. I can't be in the kitchen banging things around trying to cook so it's perfect.

Yep, it could mean all of those things...
Or it could mean none of them...
You've gotta stop comparing your rate of loss to others...
You've lost 25 pounds in two months...
    10% of your body weight...
    There's nothing wrong with that...
At that rate, you'll lose 150 pounds in a year...
If you keep up your Protein, keep up your Water and stop stressing about not losing weight, you'll lose weight...
I do note, however, that you use such words as "mistakes", "fairly decent" and "cheated"...
The more of these words that we can eliminate from our sleeved lives, the more weight we SHOULD lose...
My opinion (and it's only my opinion) is that you're doing fine...
Relax, keep on top of the right things and your time will come...

Had mimosa's for brunch on Halloween. I did fine. I was surprised the champagne carbonation had no effect on me. i indulge here in there. I feel I'm now one of the normal thin people in the world. if I have a gain I know I have to work it off at the gym to maintain. ( I'm in the maintenance phase)

It's probably just bloating. I gain a little every time I drink, and it goes away in a day or so. Alcohol affects our bodies weird because of the sugars.

LOL...I love wine, but it's doesn't really like me anymore. I'm not so kind to it as I used to be. If I were wine, I would be offended by me and hate me as well...since I neglect it so much. I spent the last 3 weekends at softball tournaments, freezing my rear end off...so I treated myself to a nice Lois Jadot white wine this Saturday, poured myself a nice 6 oz glass. Drank about 3 oz over period of an hour of it and went "Eck", I'm done...toss it out. Wine really hates my ass now.
