  1. I have Aetna PPO and have jumped through all the hoops. My surgeon's office submitted paperwork on 4/15 and I called today to Aetna and I'm approved! Whew! Surgeon had already scheduled me for May 5th with pre-op on May 1st. I have to say this forum has been the best thing for me. I am on several times every day reading the questions, successes, failures, etc. of so many people. It has given me more information than I could have wished for. Thanks and good luck to everyone on this journey!!!
  2. Congrats! I'm also scheduled for May 5th. I wish it was next week. After researching for close to a year and reading on here for so long, I am really psyched and ready to go! Good luck!
  3. I would definitely check some other area programs. There are other very qualified docs in Atlanta area other than Emory.
  4. I am scheduled for surgery May 5th, 2008 with Dr. Ryland Scott at the Harbin Clinic in Rome. I have less than a month left on my 3 month pre-op diet sessions as required by my insurance (Aetna). I originally had gone to a seminar at Emory which was very informative. However, I live in Cartersville and the trip to Rome was much more convenient with traffic and all. I feel very comfortable with choosing Dr. Scott. If you want more, info PM me. Elizabeth
  5. I also have Aetna and started my 3-month "multi-disciplinary" diet 2 days ago. Basically I meet with my PC once a month, a nutritionist once a month, and keep an exercise log. Curves would definitely count. I have a herniated disc in my back, so walking is about all I'm able to do now and they said that was fine. Basically what the nutritionist said she is doing to getting me to start eating and acting like I will after having the surgery. Eating Protein first, veggies/fruits, and then carbs. It's basically low carb. She said don't worry about losing weight as much as developing new habits. Also start eating with smaller spoons, not drinking with meals, chew chew chew. I don't think it will be too bad. But I was ready to have surger in March. I've already been to the seminars, nutrition classes, psych evaluation, etc. But now I've got to wait till May. Oh, well.
