  1. Totally off your topic but CONGRATULATIONS on your loss!!!
  2. I am post up RNY and I had dilaudid for post op day 1 &2, then he filled a prescription for oxycodone for 5 days. Used all pills. Then had to go to the walk-in medical clinic and had to get a prescription for Tramadol which is still a pain killer with Tylenol in it but not as strong. Those were for a few more days. Then after that I was pain free and only needed a Tylenol once in a while and now never. Everyone has different pain thresholds. So if you need some more go get it! Don't go with pain when you really don't have to! Take care and know it gets better in a matter of days
  3. Best response!!! You got me all pumped up and excited too!! ????????????
  4. Thank you all! I'm a little better now. I've had 2 of 4 high doses of IV steroids. (Which sucks because side effects are weight gain and slow healing! - but because it's only 4 doses it might not effect me) I'm not swollen anymore so that's a good sign. I hope to weigh myself soon and see if I've lost more weight! Or I'd even be happy to not have gained any. We shall see! And then onwards to good health and goal!!!!
  5. Agree 100% on both posts This has been an interesting thread.
  6. Totally agree And also laughed at Mama Bear comment
  7. So confused. ....Where does it say anything about nurses? No idea what's happening. ... What the heck?!?! I can only assume comments were deleted and I got the butt end of a period.
  8. So confused. .... Where does it say anything about nurses?
  9. Is the bariatrition also known as a bariatric nutritionist? Or is this your bariatric surgeon? Sorry, just never heard those terms used
  10. I say WOW too! you've been thru so many unnecessary hurdles and complications! When I had my band, I NEVER had more than 1 cc - that was even too much... so I cannot imagine having as many cc's as you did! I can't believe that d*ck doctor you had that told you to come back when you're serious... I would go back to him and tell him a piece of my mind and tell him what is happening to you now! I would also file a complaint against him. I hope all goes well and perfect and keep us in the loop! take care Heather
  11. I'd love to help but you haven't given much information... how long ago did you have surgery? And what surgery did you have? Have you ever had this pain before? Have you had a BM lately? are you passing flatus? Are you keeping food and water down? Are you feeling like you are bloating up? Does it feel like a UTI? Have you done any new exercise? Have you contacted your doctor?
  12. Weight today! ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1445449291.011587.jpg I can't even imagine how amazing that must feel!! I'll never be 120 but can't wait to be around 145-150!!
  13. I use colace (stool softeners) they help and are non-addictive like senokot or lactulose.
  14. ShantelleElaine: I think you've made your point that the complications were solely from your lap band surgery... But be honest with yourself, if someone came to you and said your story to you - would you have still gone in to have surgery? You have to admit that you probably would. You even said that you were pro band and didn't ever think that any of this would happen to you. Nobody does. That's the risk. any complication from any surgery can happen and we all know that going in. Again I say so sorry for all that's happened to you
  15. I have a rare disorder called DRESS syndrome. sadly I am going thru a severe bout of it right now. A medication given to me during surgery might've set it off. :'( What is DRESS? It stands for Drug Reaction Eosinophilia and Systemic symptoms syndrome. it came become severe... to fatal. It's like an allergy to a medication that just keeps setting it self off in my body with out the medication even being there anymore. Although this reaction may be to a new one given to me during surgery. I don't know how to find that out though because I am obviously not going to test that theory out. This disorder is rare and the mortality rate is 10% (180 cases ever reported - 10% of that is 18 people!!!) - Google it if interested... so I find out today if I have to be either admitted to hospital for high doses of IV Methylprednisolone or have it as an outpatient. I am so sad because every time I go on these steroids I gain weight. I guess I am going to gain some of the weight I have lost in the last 4 weeks. wahhhhh I knew that having surgery was a risk of bringing on my DRESS but I was really really really hoping it wasn't going to happen. Plus steroids slows down the healing which I am still doing! I didn't want any set backs but I knew that was going to be too good to be true. I haven't weighed myself since Thursday Oct 15th and there is no way I'll weight myself during this because I am ballooned up and so swollen that I cannot close my fingers into my hands and my face is so swollen that you wouldn't be able to tell if my eyes are open or closed. My skin is on fire and so hot to touch yet I am shivering cold. I will start shedding my skin soon, gross I know. One of the reasons I had gastric bypass is because with this syndrome I was trying to get rid of possible comorbidities that go with obesity because I cannot take the medications... and here I am going thru it again and possibly from medications given to me for surgery. Ironic, I think. I don't regret getting the surgery tho, not one bit! Just have to get over this hurdle now. Wish me good health and pray for me please! Heather Oh! also, any other DRESS peeps out there??
  16. So sorry to hear of all what happened to you! You've been through a lot! But I'm a bit confused... are you looking at a different surgery to do or are you on here to tell your story of your experience in hopes to scare others out of weight loss surgery? Your bad experience is rare and unique but I don't think it's common at all. (Of course I don't have exact stats in front of me) I hope you are on the mend and recovered from your terrible ordeal. Take care
  17. To ShantelleElaine: I'm pretty sure in the rules you are not supposed to bash someone else's surgery choice. What happened to you is very sad and unfortunate but that doesn't mean the band is for nobody.. it just wasn't for you. If I were either wced or bandedDiva10, I don't think I'd like such a negative and horrific response. .. especially when they still have their band in place! What happened to you doesn't mean it'll happen to everyone. I had the band for 5 years, it worked, I lost weight, the restriction helped but unfortunately in the end my body was rejecting it. I was sad to see my tool go away. I'm not saying that I hated the band or it sucked or whatever; I'm just saying that for some people it's not the correct tool. Some of us found out the hard way is all.
  18. I'm new but would like to try this please Cw 248.8 Goal weight for Nov 2 is for 239.8 (not a huge goal because Nov 2 is kinda around the corner) Let's do this!
  19. My surgery was that day but I had the gastric bypass... if you want a weight loss buddy that has the same surgery day - I'm your gal but if not, then ignore this message hahaha
  20. That's one of the best NSV I've ever heard! Great news!!
  21. That has got to be the best success story I've heard yet! That is incredibly inspiring and I hope to have at least 75% of that success at my 16 week mark. (I didn't go 100% because I just don't think you can be beat!) Just amazing!
  22. I tried to go back to my desk job after two weeks but the moment I did I experienced nausea and loose BM'S for that entire week and then some. Everyone thought I went back to work too early... which now I believe them. Today is 4 week post op and am going back to work gradually ( like work my way up to 8 hours again) I also nurse on the side - if I was full time nursing I wouldn't be thinking of going back to work for at least a couple more weeks. Good luck and hopefully all goes smoothly
  23. Oh my gosh! Someone who shares my love of cereal!! I ADORED cereal pre op. Ate it for breakfast, ate it for lunch, ate it for dinner, ate it for a snack (not always of course, but always an easy "go to" when I didn't feel like cooking). Probably why I got up to 235 pounds, lol. I really miss it. And the more sugary, the better. I was eyeing the Count Chocula in the store the other day with fondness.... Hahahaha yep it was eaten many times in a day sometimes. When my husband worked the eve/night shift I'd have cereal for dinner. Another cereal that I couldn't stay away from was Raisin Bran. But I'd have it with cream not milk. Can't believe I just admitted that. Lol My husband doesn't like cereal so there's none in the house so I'm safe. Hahaha not that I'd eat it now anyways but still, don't need it taunting me!
