MojoCAMI got a reaction from lalala87 in What are you looking forward to?
Soo many great responses on this post and if you notice most if not all of them relate to quality of life which is great.
some of my favs so far are:
    Walking down the plane isle
    fitting through turnstiles
shopping at non-big and tall stores..
    And winning the lottery
Me personally I am looking forward to:
shopping at non-big and tall stores not having to move the drivers seat so far back to accommodate my beer belly. being able to move my chair up closer to a table, without bumping or shifting the entire table for everyone else..

Ohhh I hit the big stall about 4-6weeks ago.. I posted a few weeks back that i thought I was over it, but noooooo.....I was stuck between 327-329 for weeks.. it was not until this last friday i hit 324 then this morning 323...so fingers crossed I hope this stall is over...but I have enjoyed dropping another half pants size so stall are not that bad, other things are happening within our bodies during this stall period..
I had to go by new undies for me during this stall and I did not have to go to big and tall (WHOOT)
I was able to walk into the jockey store and get stuff off the rack in XL.. before I had to go to casual male big and tall...
no more spending $$$ for 2 pair of undies, now i get them for cheap at the outlet..
We need to put together a pamphlet for folks starting this journey so they will know, not only will your health improve (re-gained my KING status with the wife in the bedroom tap-out! WHOOOT), but also I am saving money on groceries and in clothing cost.

I've been in a stall for a while now too. It's my own undoing though. I have been eating like crap, drinking wine like it's going out of style...so it's my fault. I have been okay at my current weight because I'm getting compliments, I'm comfortable in clothes now, and even enjoy shopping, BUT I don't want to be done losing weight. This morning I woke up, ate a healthy Breakfast, went to the gym, and started a squat challenge with a friend of mine. I wish you the best getting through your stall and think what Dub said is great advice. Lift weights if you are able.

    Hi!!
For the first 2-3 days I think so..after the 3rd day I was able to move around pretty easy, but the first 24hrs post discharge I was sleeping and my wife reminded me to sip Protein shakes.. for me i was not hungry so it was not having someone push me to get Fluid in the first 2 days post discharge. 3rd day I was flying well on my own, taking meds well drinking so-so ..
So my suggestion would be, if someone wants to come help post discharge please accept it, providing your can tolerate there presence.

I have "put alcohol back into my diet after surgery."
And I have not (yet) gained weight back.
Most days I have a single drink. (Am sipping my evening's single-malt scotch 1.5 ounces right now.) I've been doing this most days since 6 months post-op. I've lost 100 pounds and been at or below goal for 13 months now.

P.S., you don't have to make every meal decision for a lifetime today. You get to eat three or more times a day for the rest of your life.

High Protein, low carb. I choose high fat, but that's a personal decision. I still eat a taste of PB now and then, but it's not as important in my life as it used to be.
Tastes and cravings change and you will figure it out if you keep an open mind and concentrate on eating healthier foods and smaller portions. Find new foods you love that meet your dietary requirements instead of focusing on what you can't have that you used to love. Those foods did you no favors. They got you here.
I have found great joy in tasting new seafood salads at my Fresh Market. Yesterday I got a raw salmon and seaweed salad, the day before, a shrimp bruschetta salad (no bread involved). Today I got a delicious Thai curry shrimp and peanut salad.
I look for high flavor, awesome variety, expensive foods with great quality ingredients. I can't eat but 1/4 - 1/2 cup, so it still costs less than a McD's meal.
I am far more a foodie now than I was because my restriction is tight and I don't want to waste a bite. Now, though, I am a skinny person asking for samples instead of a fatty too embarrassed to.

Hi Lindsey. I don't eat "all" healthy food, but healthy food is my regular diet. I save the non-healthy food for special occasions. I quickly found that if I try to eat non-healthy food "in moderation" -- well, apparently I suck at moderation. Everything goes downhill for me -- except my weight, which goes up! So for me, it is best to stick to healthy food except on special holidays and for rare treats. Other people have different ways of managing post-op eating. I think it's important to work hard on figuring out what works best for you once you get to maintenance. I don't think there is a one-size-fits-all plan. I just advise keeping an open mind and being willing to change up your plan if you find that what you are doing is not working for you. Good luck!

Fire in the hole!!!! whoooo I should have waited until month 4th or 5th butt nooooo my "blankity-blank-blank" just had to have thai food after I was cleared for all food types.. I tell you, there are sometimes in your life when you wish you had listened, I thought I was going to to have to go to the ER because my tummy would not stop burning.. for you Anime fans...nine-tails was in my stomach having a party with Orichimaru...
all I could do was lay in the bed and turn from left to right, eventually I fell asleep and 3hrs later it was much better or so I thought... remember I started off this post with "Fire in the hole"... well after the party in my tummy (dj lance) I had to go drop the kids off at the pool... Ohh sweet goat gods...that was the worst bathroom exit experience I have had with spicy food ever... I don't know what my sleeve added to the digestive process but my rear was not happy with me...
I can say now, I can handle thai and spicy salsa without issue, but I think I tried my luck a little early at 10weeks post-op..
    The end..

okay people my 2 and half cents here..... its like this.. (forgive the generalizations that may occur)..
Many us wanted to loose weight, have tried over the years many different diets and things, but at the core we wanted to first improve our outward appearance and 2nd (for those who have these) improve our health aliments whatever they be. For me I have congestive heart failure, High blood pressure, borderline diabetic ...blah blah blah..
Post procedure I am 5months post now, and while I can notice some things in the mirror and yes I still detest that I have a stomach that flaps over my belt, by more inches than I care to admit, I know that my pants size has shrunk, my shirts fits looser and it will be time for new underwear soon..
What I have come to enjoy more than the physical weight lost is the following and forgive me if i am sharing too much ... but I enjoy being able to walk without feeling like i am going to die.. I no longer dred stairs ... and I am wearing out the wife in bed.. she honestly said to me one day, did they mention anything to you about increased endurance / stamina.. I said nope..
There are so many other positives outside of the slow to take shape outward appearance that I know each of us who has taken this journey can point to. limiting your scope of benefits or lack there of to solely visual interpretations of body image is something we should not do.. not only can it break your soul/mental state, but to me it plays right into the body image stereotypes that i am sure many of us notice and detest..
In saying that, yes we all have a desire as humans to fit in, and like anything else, we did not reach our max weights in 2-3months or 5-8months time. So we should be understanding of our bodies that we subjected it to state of excess longer than reasonable and be patient during the re-calibration process.

Not even going to lie, I confess and my sister calls me crazy.. but ever since I have gotten home from surgery I have weighed myself in the morning..
There are only a handful of days I can recall I missed weighing myself.
While I knew it was more than likely not the greats thing for me to do, I could not help it.. i was so fixated on seeing that number drop I had to check daily.. now, i do not check multiple times a day.. I am a once a day checker.. in the morning only.. now that i have lost a few pounds, the scale is not moving as fast..and I take it in stride.. but I realize I am not going to stop until I hit the magic number that feels right to me..

The pre-procedure diet, helped at bit since it was liquid, but I understand when i went back to work post procedure I had to avoid the lunch room and declined most of the happy our invites until I was comfortable drinking Water and not being ashamed to say it.. .. I assure you this will pass by your soft food stage you will be so happy that you have new world of options at your figure tips.. for me when i was cleared for all foods types, I was craving salad.. of all things friken salad..go figure.
keep up the good work and welcome to the otherside.

well I would focus on liquids before even Protein. the more dehydrated you get the harder it is to get started again. you just have to make yourself sip sip sip - little bits. otherwise you will be more nauseated.
