I range from 800 to 1200 most days, one day a week I will go around 1500 - it works.
I guess most mornings are oatmeal with natural Peanut Butter and soy milk instead of Water mixed in.
lunch is usually fish of some sort 3 oz or so with a little veggie
snack - sometimes thin and trim turkey and light swiss rolled in boston lettuce with a bit of miracle whip
dinner - fish again ( I love fish) and a bit of avocado and lemon squeezed on fish
oh and if I am feeling especially decadent I have the Mint Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich! Freaking awesome thank you very much.
sometimes some almonds during the day or yogurt - depending on my mood and hunger

A lot of grocery stores have build your own salad bars, that is what I did went I went to Atlanta, GA. it helped greatly when I was looking for a good healthy salad with protien.
I guess I would pack a crap load of Protein bars, nuts (I love almonds) I would bring trail mix - make your own or buy it, I would grab beef Jerky if it was available and if I chewed it really well (usually at short stops and such) at fast food I would get a salad and a burger? take off the bun if you can't tolerate bread (I can't) skip the fries. And some filling Soup of if available?
Boy I am trying to think of anything else and feeling like a dork, I am sure there will be plenty of others with great advice for you!
Good luck to you!

I understand how you feel and normally if I am ticked off because I am waiting more than I think I should I will say something. And yes, I have also commented on nasty or unpleasant staff.
However, there have been times where I just shut up LOL and that is not like me! I just want my friggen fills sometimes and I have found that I kill people with kindness - it makes me feel better.
But....if given the crappiest treatment and I was feeling especially unhappy I suppose I would be more assertive and really explain to my surgeon how I feel.
-
I just found that I need to stay by the sink, bent over and let my body "slime" oh god yes it is gross and it doesn't feel good by any stretch of the imagination.
Sometimes it would take a while to stop, but you are not going to keel over and it is something you won't ever forget - however you may do it again!
I do feel for you!

Congratulations on your incredible weight loss, you and I are very similar as far as our surgery dates, I was banded in June. However, I am much further behind in the weight loss department and I am not sharing that these days - I get tired of having people say "that is all you have lost?" - so that being said, you have done wonderful...
but you are entitled to feel frustrated, maybe you need a fill? maybe you need to refocus? I do not know but I can tell you that you will find wonderful support on this site as well as a ton of people who do understand.

Ok, some times things do happen with this surgery - like any other, personally I do not have an issue with hanging skin but some people do, I do not vomit - have not vomited since my surgery to be honest and as far as mucous? Well, yes, I ate something more than once either too fast, not chewed well and or something that just wasn't going to work - however, I have that figured out and it doesn't happen now.
I can honestly tell you I would never, ever go back to before my surgery, I am so happy that I personally have the band, I am not shy about it and I share my experiences with anyone who asks, I cannot imagine being the person I was before, it isn't just the weight loss either, it is the knowledge that I have a chance using this tool that I never have had before.
Good luck to you regardless of what decision you end up making :bored:

How long was the recovery? Do you still have a "tummy tumor" from the old port?I had it done on a Wednesday went back to work 8 days later, I don't know what a tummy tumor is -?
-
Ok at the risk of people thinking I am wimp (and if you do don't tell me you think I am)- I had my first fill done without it being numb - never again, it hurt and he was using fluro to see my port. The second two times I have been numb and very happy about it.
I suppose each person has their own pain tolerance - mind you I have had two tattoos and my belly button pierced - go figure.

7 months out, 3rd fill total of 5.5cc in a 10cc band, I believe and so doesn't my surgeon that I have hit a sweet spot! We shall see
-
I think this is exactly what I need done! I cant deal with the pain anymore! Did you have the procedure, did it fix it!??!Yes, I had it done November 19,2008 and it did take care of the pain and I feel great!

I went in early in the morning - really can't remember what time. Yes, I spent the night - to be honest I am so glad they require that as I did have some issues in the middle of the night around midnight and I needed help. I personally feel very comfortable with hospitals and never mind having to stay when I have had to.
I didn't drive for a couple of weeks.
I was sore for a couple of weeks.
Restrictions for me were lifting - that was about it.
Good luck to you !

Hi there  My nutritionist and surgeon say it is a shock from the surgery, some people blame not enough Protein, others suggest taking Biotin as a supplement.
I personally am 7 months out and am still having hair loss issues. I do keep my Protein up where it should be and I started to take Biotin about 2 weeks ago, my nutritionist said that it would help and that eventually my Hair loss would stop when I saw her this past thursday.
So, I probably didn't answer your question real great but I wanted to share what is going on with my hair loss as well, good luck to you!

Good for you for turning something that was a negative in a positive!
I personally would have probably reacted differently LOL

I have a 10cc band and after 3 fills I have 5.5ccs and good restriction. My surgeon is of the "slow and steady" fills.
I have personally had my first fill done without numbing, the other two were done with numbing - I asked to have numbing and there isn't any shame in that let me tell you
Good luck and if you get as much of a fill as you anticipate follow the instructions they give you afterward to the "t"! That is a big first fill :sneaky:

Congratulations on your weightloss and your fantastic attitude  I too am a slow loser and I am ok with that - it is what it is!

My husband is the only one who went with me to my surgery but my entire family knew and I didn't care one bit to be honest - if anyone made a comment I never heard about it but then again I don't think anyone would dare take my inventory regarding my surgery before looking at themselves and their lives first.
That being said, my mother honestly didn't say much period - she is a good person and I love her very much, I do not honestly know what she thought about this surgery...she has not said and I haven't asked. She is and has been overweight for as long as I can remember, but that is her battle to fight not mine - I wonder if it bothered her that I had this surgery, but I am 36 years old and I live my life finally!
Good luck to you!

I am starting my pre op diet (full liquids) on Tuesday. Can anyone who has done this tell me if they exercised?I have my surgical consult on Monday, and will ask then, but I'm curious as to whether or not anyone has done that, or do you not have energy?
Debbie
I was terrified I wouldn't lose the weight in time for my surgery date and I was told he cancels if you do not meet the expected loss, so you bet I was exercising my butt off! I walked everyday during my lunch and then came home and used my treadmill, it worked, I lost more than needed before my surgery and it got me on my way :
Good luck to you!

I like feeling my restriction, it keeps me in check and it gives me confidence... sounds silly maybe to some people, but for me it means that I have a chance.

I think I pretty much ate Gas X strips for days after my surgery - they were my best friend, when I got tired of the taste of the cinnamon and the minty fresh strips I switched chewable
Gas X.
I hope you feel better soon!

When can the steri strips come off? They are curling up at the ends and driving me nuts! :thumbdown:Also, can I use lotion on my belly - it's very itchy!?!
I used lotion on my belly and it was fine, I can't see why not?
Also as far as the steri strips, my Surgeon said that I would leave them on until they were pretty much falling off, I did this for my first surgery, but then I had a port revision and decided to take them off a little sooner - bad idea LOL, they were not ready to come off and I was tugging at my scab at my incision area - ouch:eek:
So lesson learned, don't yank - duh right? I felt like a real genius after that experience. Oh, you could trim the steri strips, I did end up doing that to stop them from curling.

Well, I was banded July 28, 2008. No complications. Lost 8 pounds on pre-op and 12 on post-op. I waited patiently for something to kick in after the first, second, third and fourth fills. All the while restriction is getting more significant. But now at 5 cc, I can't even eat a cracker without getting stuck. I am back on half servings of shakes. No weight loss. What is this? Doc says to eat 6 times a day, small of course. Not drinking calories, not eating bad stuff. Has anyone experienced this kind of weight loss resistance. I've been very patient. Now I'm feeling cursed. Thanks for the listening ear.If you are cursed then I am too  I am 7 months post op, I lost 22 lbs pre op and then only 8 pounds for 6 months post op! Now this past month (Jan) I have finally started to lose. I know the feeling of waiting for something to happen, I have 5.5 cc in a 10 cc band right now and it is so hard when I see other people losing fast than me.
However, I do not get stuck (unless I try to eat bread of any sort) I am wondering if you need a slight un-fill? I am not a Doctor obviously so it is just my thought.
Good luck to you, please know you are not alone and I wish you well,

Hello  I got a fill when I was not feeling so hot and was on meds from my PCP, I hope there isn't any problem getting your fill - good luck to you!
-
I take Viactiv Calcium chewable's, and now they make Viactiv Multivitamins and I take those as well, I do take Biotin as well, not chewable but I am 7 months out and it doesn't bother me to swallow them.

i can eat bread, just not as much at one time. if i have a burger, i take the top bun off. and YES, i eat burgers from time to time! sue me, lol. or if i have a small roll or muffin, i take small bites. i had pizza for the first time last week. and it was harder to get down, so don't think i'll try it again!I do not think, nor have I been told - that a burger is off limits! They are yummy and I haven't had one for a long time, perhaps I will have one this weekend (sans bun though for me) Thank you for the reminder!

LOL, no I don't have one of those - I actually did have a fatty tumor though years ago that I had to have removed right near where my port is now - funny enough
