Lack of appetite due to meds

Thank you SandieLaw, I ate a bit more today but of course that is because I was trying to lay off the medication. I will set my alarm tomorrow on my computer at work and try to get small amounts in. Take care :tongue2:
  4. Quite frankly I would be a bit ticked off, if she is being insensitive because of her own issues she should keep them to herself - she is not in business of complaining but of the helping profession. :tongue2: now that being said I would be pro- active and frank with her, ask her if there is something going on that she needs to discuss as you are feeling like she is not being supportive and you need her to be - particularly because she is a patient advocate! <--------key word here! If you don't have luck that route then I would consider speaking to someone else who has some clout in the office. I guess this riled me up as I know what a struggle it was get my insurance to pay and what a long hard road it was to get my band - I hate to see anyone in a position that makes them sad or frustrated. Barbie
  5. Thank you :) Have a good week yourself!

  6. You are welcome, I am feeling ok. I am getting geared up for work tomorrow and hope everything is un-eventful this week ;)

    Just want to talk...

Hi Mr. Blog - I am tired but unable to sleep, drugged up from the meds, my lower pelvic area is still painful from the ovarian cyst - the doctor says "lets wait and see" The last time we waited to see I ended up having emergency surgery. I mean honestly - I got to see the internal ultra sound (twice, once at E.R. and once at surgeons office) and there is a bit of blood leaking, but that stupid cyst just isn't big enough yet to worry about... now I know these guys can seal back up and your body will eventually reabsorb them, but then again what if I have what happened before happen again? Ok, done whining - I guess, it just isn't like me to be whine like this lol, I think the combination of pain killers and the extra hormones from the cyst (it is pushing lots of those out right now) is really affecting my well being
  8. Hi Lucy! I am glad to see I wasn't alone in the concern of whether the band was in or not after surgery  You and I are quite close for surgery dates, I was banded June 16th. You are doing fabulous on your weight loss! Hope to see you around the boards

    New To this site

Good morning and welcome  For me lap band surgery was the best option, I started at 226 lbs and my surgeon didn't feel that gastric bypass would be the ideal surgery for me. Now, I do have an Aunt and her daughter who have both had Gastric Bypass and it was the best surgery for them. I think it really comes down to what you qualify for and what you feel most comfortable with. Good luck on your journey, ask lots of questions as I am always learning new things from the wonderful people on this forum
  12. Hi there,

I wanted to drop a quick message to you - I always enjoy your posts and look forward to reading them as soon as I see your avatar pic!

Take care and awesome job on your weight progress! Barbie

  13. The only thing that truly scared me and made me worry, was that I wouldn't actually get to have the band, that they would go inside and my liver hadn't shrunk - nothing about actually having the band scared me, not being able to eat the same way didn't bother me in the least. The absolute first thing I asked when I came out surgery was "Did they put my band in" Mind you I was drugged up so it might have been slurred when I asked lol, the nurse couldn't believe that was my first concern ! Yes! My email notification has stopped as well - so glad I am not alone! Any answers out there?
  15. Hello who ever is reading this :grouphug: About a year and half ago I had an ovarian cyst that went from the size of a grape to the size of an orange in about 4 days, causing the most excruciating pain, I ended up finding out at 11 am this had happened (via an emergency visit to the ob-gyn Dr.) and he was scheduling my emergency surgery for 3 pm that day. Now, I got to keep that ovary thankfully and all has been well, however, the night before last night I started having lower pelvic pain, I thought it was perhaps a urinary infection as it was quite sudden and painful.... Well lo' and behold I went to my Dr. yesterday to get it taken care of and he told me that I did not have an infection but I was going to the emergency room as he suspected I had another cyst. I was finally given a room at the busy hospital in their triage unit, after being poked, prodded, stuck and plucked it was determined that I have a little cyst that is causing this severe pain I am having. Seven hours later, with lots of morphine into my body I was sent home on my merry way. I followed up with the surgeon who originally removed my first cyst today, he said we are going to do the "wait and see" right now, it is seeping a little blood but it isn't at the point to be removed. So here I am, home, curled up in bed with Percocet and or Dilaudid if needed, I at least have the lap top and when I am not in drug world I can at least pop on here and see what is going on, thank god for this site

  17. Hi there  I tell everyone and anyone who has asked! It keeps me accountable to be honest - mind you this is just me and it is my nature to share... not everyone feels this way and it is ok! I am honest when asked because I know what it is like to be on the other end and if I can help just one person understand this surgery (particularly if they want to have it and are afraid to ask about it) then I am a better person for it. An example of this is the other night when I was brought to the Emergency Room for my ovarian cyst I had an internal ultra sound done, the woman who did it was pleasant and very quiet (I was doped up on morphine but never quiet lol) she looked at my stomach where my scars are curiously and I blurted out "I had lap band surgery!" Guess what? Her face changed, she smiled and told me she is thinking of having surgery for Lap Band! It was great to see her smile and to hear her questions - I felt like I helped in some small way.

Lack of appetite due to meds

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I had not been told about the hormones messing up my appetite, he did say I would affect my mood of course and I had a very large cyst as well about a year and a half or so ago - when they removed it my emotions were likened to those of someone who was post postpartum! Thank you again, I had only been thinking it was the pain killers and you are right - not having an appetite is clearly not the worst thing lol!

    They asked me to speak

Over and over again I enjoy reading your posts and I think you are very honest and clear when expressing yourself! Also I think you rock and are an inspiration to myself and so many others - so what if you weren't the typical weight loss success story? (you really have defied the average) You have done what many of us can't wait to do and it is great to have you on this board sharing your successes and doling out your tough love! I only hope some day I get asked to speak lol - now that would be a feat!
  23. Congratulations on the loss! I am so happy for you and you must feel wonderful :) Rock it out Trina!

  24. Hi there, I really wanted you to know I enjoyed your comments above and I agree that a therapist is priceless! And that is not just because I am currently in college to become one - I really liked your question - about disliking yourself and why - it hit home and I understand it.
