    Congratulations!
I still order out Chinese food on occasion. When I do I request no rice, and double up on my Protein and it lasts several meals. (For instance chicken and broccoli with extra chicken).

I had my 7 week post-op follow-up yesterday. I am down 4 pant sizes and 65+ lbs since July 4th. I am still doing very well - energy is high and feeling great. I have had a couple "slimming" incidents over the last 3 weeks but mostly due to eating too much too fast.
I hope everyone is doing well and mentally prepared for Thanksgiving! Take it easy on the stuffing!! :-)
Sharing a little before and after pic of me wearing the same shirt.

I'll take a balanced approach to the food. I love turkey, so, no problem with going for the Protein first. A tablespoon of stuffing, perhaps a tablespoon of green bean casserole. Definitely a tiny bit of cranberries. And I think I'll be good. My therapist and I talked about strategies when I started feeling deprived or frustrated which I intend to utilize. Going to focus on all my senses, not just taste. Enjoy the people, play some games, go for a walk, watch Harry Potter, etc. I also want to try to make some intentional decisions - I don't get things like stuffing and cranberries year round. If I want mashed potatoes, I can do that any time. So, going to go for the truly special stuff.
And I know this group will be here if I need to vent.

Edited to add: THANKS to everyone who responded. I'm feeling far more positive about the holiday now. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Considering our stomachs are much much smaller than normal, we can only eat so much before getting sick. So I'm eating my 1 or 2 oz of dark meat turkey a spoon of homemade noodles a spoon of mashed potatoes and a bite of pumpkin pie.

I have not made my gym goal this week, however I have done a million squats steps and lots of manual labor for 5 days. Does that count? My weight was 211 this morning.

I put my plan into practice last night at our church's family dinner.
I used a small plate. I got turkey, a tablespoon of stuffing, a tablespoon of green Beans, and a tablespoon of something special (it turned out to be fruit salad). When it came to desert I had a very small piece of pumpkin pie.
    I recorded everything in MyFitnessPal.
We did have communion but I didn't record that (a tiny piece of bread and a thimbleful of grape juice).
The company and fellowship was great.

Thanksgiving. Ugh. Anyone got any thoughts on how they're going to get through it? Anyone have experience or advice?
My bariatric practice is really practical about this sort of thing. They say that the holiday is a special day and that we should give ourselves a break. That being said, I know myself. A break for Thursday will last the entire holiday weekend. And if I'm lucky I'll crawl back on the wagon on Monday. That's a big IF. So, I'm starting my Thursday with participating in a Turkey Trot 5K.
I've had a few times when I've eaten too fast/too much and the feeling is so awful I really don't want to do that. So, what's everyone planning?

Hmmmm... hate to say this - but why did you marry her in the first place? Did you love her only because of weight? You had WLS and it is working for you - and that is great! WLS is a huge decision as you know - and a personal one. Perhaps in time she will see the benefits of it and look into it - or perhaps it wouldn't be the right thing for her. Perhaps you need to cut her some slack and not expect something from her just because you have had WLS.
I know you probably want her to lose the weight because you love and care for her and want her around in the years to come. Nevertheless, you might want to re-examine the things about her that you do love and not judge her because she is not falling in line with what you have done about your weight.

Sleeved 9/9/15. I have lost 53 pounds. No more Metformin for diabetes, gout, high cholesterol. Hopefully I will come off high blood pressure meds next month. My struggle has been getting 64oz of Water in but I have no problems Protein. I do one Protein Shake and one Protein Bar a day. I get the rest of my protein eating eggs, chicken, seafood, turkey and beef. Snacks are yogurt, string cheese, almonds, sugar free puddings and sunflower seeds. Exercises have been walking, ab exercises, squats and resistance band workouts. Just joined Planet Fitness so that will be a new journey. I know that everyone is different but I had to find what works for ME and I have found this is what works for ME......right now.

Good luck to you. Think positive. Everything is going to be ok. You will initially have some pain but mostly from the gas. This will pass and will be nothing like you have previously endured. You got this!

Goldy, PJackson's probably right - unless he's always like this, he might just be feeling overwhelmed and scared and maybe just doesn't know how to tell you that. I hope things calm down for you soon, and Thursday's surgery resolves your health problems. In the meantime, you've always got support here on the boards!

I reached 70 pounds lost this morning and I wanted to post a few photos for those considering WLS. I am five months post op and I had a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy in Tijuana Mexico. I used Dr Jesus Martin Lopez. He and his staff were amazing. I booked my surgery through BariatricPal and they were also wonderful. I have had no problems and I can tolerate 90% of what I eat. Every now and then I have something that doesn't agree with me. This doesn't mean I can never have it, I just wait and try later. It simply meant it wasn't time to have it yet. I attribute my lack of complications to Dr Lopez. He did an amazing job and is truly a talented surgeon.
The surgery is simply a tool. The biggest contributing factor to success is mental. I was ready mentally and prepared to NOT make food a priority in my life. I was ready and willing to give up whatever food I needed to make this work and to give it up for the rest of my life if necessary. Temptation has been there but I have not given in and I have not cheated. I still have 60 pounds to go to reach my goal. I WILL make it because I WANT to make it and I am WILLING to put in the work and sacrifice needed to get it done.
THIS HAS BEEN HARD! But it has been worth it. If you are considering WLS because you think it will be the easy option, please reconsider. The surgery did make it possible for me to make it half way to my goal. I could not have done it without VSG.
So, instead of saying onward and upward... I will say onward and downward! I am determined to post more pics on the future. I think the great thing about this forum is if I do screw up and I do cheat, I know I can come here for the swift kick in the ass that I need to get me back on track

I can honestly say I'm a lucky woman. My husband and I have been together since I was 17 (I'm now 40). I've never been a thin person, I think my lowest weight was around 195 when I met my husband. Since then I ballooned to 260 at my highest. My husband has always always told me how beautiful I am and has always been a very affectionate man. Always holding hands kissing etc. Now that I've had surgery and the smaller I get the more affectionate he becomes, if that's even possible. I think he might smother me with it eventually lol. I on the other hand am not the kissy huggy lovey type. I guess that might change I don't know. Let your husband's and wives know how you feel and eat you're thinking. Communication is key folks. Marriage is hard enough, open up with your spouse.

I've been with my husband for 28 years. I was normal size when we met, he was a little chubby.
Like me, he struggled with his weight. Like me, he went up and down and up and down. He reached his highest weight in 2006 of 300 pounds. He had a gastric bypass, and lost 130 pounds. Nothing really changed, except I continued to struggle and diet and go up and down. Although I was very happy for him, I'll have to admit, I was a little jealous. I used to tell him he took the easy way. HA!
Fast forward 9 years. I decide to get the sleeve. It was great having someone so supportive that understood what I was going through! Now almost 95 pounds later, he's incredibly happy for me....for us. We are healthy together (he's kept all but 20 pounds off for 9 years basically)
I loved him thick, I love him thin. He loved me thick, and still loves me thin.
He couldn't keep his hands off me before, and really can't keep his hands off me now
Marriage or long term relationships are all about ebb and flow. People grow and change. Life happens. Life changes. Challenges come up. But as long as the two of you are communicating and respecting each other as individuals, anything can be overcome if you both just try. But it really does have to be a mutual effort.
And because I just like this picture, here we are!

That's cool that both are going thru this journey together.
I had to re-focus on my exercise, yesterday in the afternoon I was watching tv and told myself that I needed to do some workout. It's been colder outside so it's hard for me to get into the working out mode. Anyway, I got my taebo videos out and did my 45 min workout yesterday????✌????️
