    Hello from Europe!

Hi Michael, I just returned from having my surgery done in Tijuana by Dr. Carlos Altamirano Cano. I have to say that it was absolutely the very best medical experience I've ever had. BP staff was great, the recovery house was fine, but my Surgeon, he is a GOD. I would trust Dr. Altamirano with my life any time, any day. Choose him and you'll be in great hands. 2. I told my PCP that I wanted to do my gastric sleeve surgery and he was very supportive of me going to Mexico for my surgery. He was just concerned that I did my research and got into a great Doctor. In the end, after extensive research, I chose Dr. Carlos Altamirano Cano. At the time I booked through Bariactric Pal and my trip and surgery went off without a hitch. The staff at Florence Hospital was amazing and took wonderful care of me. After I was discharged from the hospital I spent 2 days at the recovery house where I had Juan who took me all over Tijuana and Ensanada. I felt that 2 days was a little much, it would have been nice to return home after the first day. I was pretty wiped out by the time I got back to Utah. The think that impressed me the most about Dr. Altamirano was how much he genuinely cares about his patients. He calls you as your date is nearing, he explains EVERYTHING in great detail, and most of all... he stopped in and saw me at the recovery house and spent an hour of his own time with me. What doctor does that these days, house calls? As far as I'm concerned, I selected the very best surgeon $4400 could buy. I know I will have life long support from him as long as I want/need it. 3. I have decided to do my surgery in Mexico as a self pay. My insurance company is dragging its feet and frankly there are way too many hoops for me to jump through with my ridiculous schedule. I work in the oil and gas industry and by the time I comply with all of their requests I am going to be laid off anyway. So, one of my concerns is post operation care. I asked the consultant about this concern and was told that follow up care isn't really necessary??? Does that seem wrong to anyone but me?
  4. Uhggh, this definitely makes my decision to go to Mexico for my surgery more difficult
  5. Don't know if you posted in the wrong section or not... But I going to do the same thing because I am getting tired of all the runaround through my insurance company. It looks like one year before I am qualified to have the surgery. I have been thinking of doing bariatric surgery most of my adult life. I don't think I need to see a psychiatrist you tell me I'm mad, I don't need to see a dietitian tell me I don't eat right. So I am skipping the bureaucracy and doing this on my own. I just need some (a lot) guidance. I hope this is the place.
