  1. I got my surgery on the 29th, and it looks like I'll be going home tomorrow. The doctors are very focused on me getting all my liquids in. I can already do puree stage, but I'm not doing that yet. Just water and protein shakes for this gal.
  2. If you want the bypass, then go for it! I mean, there's no way for her to check which surgery you got... It's all inside you. Lol.
  3. "."? Shouldn't periods be discussed in the "Female Only" forum? Hahaha!!! I had a lot more written then I decided to delete it. It was too negative and judgmental. I'm not here to bash anyone, we get that enough in the real world. Who cares how many times someone asks the same question over and over? I mean, we've all struggled at some point, right? So, I decided to edit my post to nothing because I don't want to be shaming the very same people who are in my very same boat. Must've been on my period when I wrote the original.
  4. I already can't wait for my tummy tuck! Lol. I'll have had a total of 8 appointments I had to come to the hospital for plus lab work, which I did on another appointment day. Then I have the 3-7 day stay at the hospital, then the follow ups and follow up nutrition class. I've had: Meeting with doctor in a group Meeting with Dr one on one (same day as group) 2 nutrition classes Lab work EGD (an outpatient surgery they look into your stomach beforehand) Pre-Op appointment Lab work Psychological evaluation Anesthesiologist appointment Then actual surgery this coming December 29th I had a friend who also had to do a follow up appointment with the same doctor. I'm sure you can get some of the appointments scheduled the same days as others so you can make fewer visits. The whole process has been very very simple, they don't require a 6 month diet program like some places do, and everything is totally free (except food and vitamins). My journey began in October, and the thing that took the longest is actually waiting for the surgeon to have an open day in his schedule. It's awesome. Best of luck to you.
  5. I'm going to be dropped off, the hubby will be at work and my kids will be at my mom's house for a week. I'm actually really looking forward to the mini vacation stay at the hospital. Hahaha. Haven't had that much time to myself since I had babies. I'm going to enjoy every second. My hubby will come by to visit, but I wouldn't expect him to stay 24/7.
  6. I'm having gastric bypass on December 29th! All of us December 29thers should keep in touch and put our stats and victories in this post! HW: 250 CW: 227 Goal weight: 150 Height: 5'2
  7. I would just say - that's very flattering, but no thank you. The end.
  8. I'm so glad for your surgery tomorrow. That's just too exciting!
  9. I'm having gastric bypass at the end of December - December 29th. I'm really nervous about being on my pre Op diet for Christmas, but I've enjoyed too much food every other Christmas so I hope it'll be just fine. I'm glad I won't have to recover and miss Christmas so the 29th is awesome. Best. Gift. Ever.
  10. That's so great! When did you have surgery? Congrats on 14's!
  11. Wow! Such great progress!!! Keep up the great work...
  12. Woo hoo! I'm very excited for you. ????????????
  13. I myself have "only" 70-80 pounds to lose, and have my surgery scheduled for December 29th. I don't know where I'll be when I'm done losing in terms of weight, but I DO know I'll be at less risk for heart attack ect. I know that on my own, without the surgery, it's very unlikely I'll be able to lose weight, and keep it off, for life - on shear will power alone. So, I'm having gastric bypass - and if in a few years I regret it for whatever reason, it's reversible.
  14. Sounds like we'll be bypass babes soon! Congratulations on finishing your 6 month follow up with the surgeon. That's the tough part. It should go quickly for you from now on. I have a friend who was going to get sleeved on the same day as my bypass, with the same doctor, but after her egd they recommended bypass to her also. She decided yesterday to get the bypass instead. I think yours is a common dilemma, but not an easy one. I think, in the end, bypass or sleeve - we're all just making decisions to better our health and our future. That's just SO exciting in itself. Way to go US! Keep us posted on your surgeries, can't wait to see/hear all your future success.
  15. Just writing to follow
  16. I was offered both options, and I went with bypass from the beginning. My reasons were because I have reflux and nausea on my own (the sleeve can make this worse), and there has been years and years of long term studies done on the bypass, but not the same for sleeve. Years ago, people thought lap band was the way to go, but we're now learning that it doesn't work all that well and there have been many complications, and lot of revisions. I'm not saying that the sleeve will turn out to be the same "fad" surgery, but the research just isn't there for it like the bypass is. Also, there have been studies that show the bypass is actually more effective at long term weight loss than the sleeve. I'm 5'2 230 pounds, so I qualify for both surgeries, but I'm not so big that I need more drastic measures, I just want to have only one surgery, done right the first time. I don't want to be sleeved and then have to do revision surgery later because it's not as effective as bypass. As far as the dumping goes, I actually WANT that as a tool to keep me, and my weight, in check. I feel like my weight is a big enough problem in my life to have surgery for it, so I'm going to go all-in, and get the bypass. My surgery is scheduled for December 29th. SO excited!!
  17. I'm getting surgery December 29th. Not super excited about having to go on a liquid diet for Christmas, but I'll manage it because nothing makes me more excited than thinking about getting surgery!!!
  18. Has anyone tried juicing for their pre-Op diet? I got an expensive juicer a year or so ago, and I'm thinking I'll get lots of vitamins AND do a nice cleanse before surgery, and maybe in the liquid phase too?
