  1. Finallyfree, have you tried making your own Seitan? I lived on it for the first three months. Stacks of Protein. This is my favourite recipe http://40aprons.com/seitan-ground-beef/
  2. I am not quite there yet, but my plan is to use calorie restriction whenever there is a '5' in front of my weight and mindfulness if my weight starts with a '4'. So over 50kg restrict, below 50kg be mindful. No idea if this will actually work, but I have lost this weight so many times before and put it all back on that I plan to watch the scales like a hawk.
  3. Does the feeling go away after you eat or is it still there? I had an uncomfortable 'empty' feeling for the first month which I thought could be hunger, but I realised eating wasn't helping it much either. Later I realised it was reflux and started medication. I don't have that feeling anymore.
  4. How has your recovery been?
  5. Not abnormal, but super lucky
  6. Every little bit adds up. I have had some huge weeks of up to 4kg losses and then some weeks where I stay the same or only lose 100g. But seven months out it has added up to more than 50kg :) . The first month or two felt long and like I wasn't progressing much, but then it has been like a freight train. 2kg more to lose and I will be in the healthy weight range.
  7. Just be very, very clear that you have already researched and your mind is 100% made up, so you are asking for her support, not her opinion on the surgery. You might be pleasantly surprised
  8. Eastern suburbs Sydney Best of luck OP. My sleeve is the bomb and was the best decision I ever made.
  9. I chose to keep my surgery private. I did have a friend, who is preparing for WLS, ask me outright if I lost my weight through surgery. I lied and said I hadn't. I felt terrible as I know I may have caused her doubt in herself regarding if she could lose her weight without surgery. I feel really bad about it, but I know she is a bit gossipy, so if I had told her I know she would have told others. I gave her heaps of encouragement about her surgery and told her if I were to regain all of my weight I would have surgery too. But I feel like an asshole. I don't know if I made the right decision not telling her. It definitely was not in her best interest and very selfish.

I was laying in the bath and felt this bone sticking out of my chest. I was totally freaked out as it was protruding so much and was definitely not there before. It was the bottom of my sternum. [emoji23]
  14. So I am nearing the healthy weight range . I took my waist measurement recently and it is way, way higher than the recommended width I am an apple shape, so I assume this will be harder to achieve than if I carried my fat on my legs and hips. I am estimating I would need to be at the very bottom of the HWR to achieve a healthy waist circumference. Has anyone else achieved a less than 80cm waist circumference and if so, what was your BMI when you achieved this and what is your body shape? https://heartfoundation.org.au/your-heart/know-your-risks/healthy-weight/waist-measurement Your health is at risk if your waist size is Men Over 94 cm (about 37 inches) Women Over 80 cm (about 31.5 inches) These guidelines are based on World Health Organization and National Health and Medical Research Council recommendations.

    Waist measurement

True, I hadn't factored that in. Probably 70 of the 110lbs came off my tummy so there is lots of spare skin.

Changed a heap of light globes and screwed four smoke alarms onto our very high ceilings. I was up and down the ladder all morning. And then it hit me...I have been up and down a ladder all day like it was absolutely nothing. I could never have managed that 100lbs ago.
  17. I can only speak from my own experience, but now, more than 100lbs down, there are a whole host of new interests that would never have been appealing to me when I was obese. I have so much energy now, I never even knew I was lacking in energy. My house is spotlessly clean, I do active things with my kids now that I was subconsciously avoiding when I was obese. Almost everything is easier now. Once you start to feel positive changes due to your weight loss you will start feeling better. Your body is still healing from major surgery, give it time. I am sorry you are having such a hard time, you sound miserable. Keep chanting, this too shall pass.

    146lbs this week. Thanks Sarah.
  20. I lost large amounts of weight numerous times over the past 20 years, usually I would get down to a BMI of around 30-35. I would lose for six months, maintain that weight for less than a day, gain it all back (plus a few extra pounds) over three months, maintain that high weight for a year or two, get fed up, start losing again. When I started this roundabout I was 160lbs, in the end I was 256. Last time, I didn't get fed up, I gave up. I felt beaten. I knew there was no point losing again as I would end up heavier, but I also knew I couldn't live with a BMI of 50.
  21. Make your own Seitan. Very high in Protein http://40aprons.com/seitan-ground-beef/ http://www.buzzfeed.com/mathewg5/29-ass-kicking-recipes-for-homemade-seitan-dst2#.dePpG6XNZ http://weelicious.com/2012/07/06/vegans-and-carnivores-unite-seitan-tacos/ https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=1628975

    Salad question

I am 7 months out and still haven't had a salad, just a few baby spinach leaves. I have tried many times (as I crave it also), but once I finish the Protein portion, I never have any room for salad. I could forgo the protein for the salad, but it would mean I wouldn't hit my protein goal.
  23. Yes, this thread is terrifying. I have only told mum and my husband, mum was very encouraging and my husband never questions any decisions I make about myself. Different strokes and all that, but if you are yet to have your surgery, think very hard about who you will tell.

Lol, mine has also stopped falling out but it looks like straw too. I might just keep it short until something nice grows through.
