Oh don't say that! I wore a size 12 in middle school so I am figuring size 8 is "safe!" I literally just practically skipped size 10 so I treated myself and bought the most expensive pair of jeans I have ever owned yesterday to Celebrate being in single digits! I don't want to think about shrinking out of them... Ok well maybe I do... But not yet, LOL!

I can't wait to wear cute fashions & look attractive in them. I can't wait to reunite with people from my past that I have cut off because I'm so embarrassed about being obese. I might even attend a family or high school reunion. I look forward to not worrying about if something I order in a restaurant will fill me up. I look forward to not worrying about if I can get in or out of a chair or if the airplane seat belt will buckle. I stopped flying because the last time I did the seat belt barely buckled. I look forward to my knees & feet not hurting and my ankles not swelling. I look forward to renewed attention from the many admirers I will have (big monkey smile). My surgery date is July 24th & I'm pretty scared, but I look forward to becoming normal again.
    Thanks for asking.

I know how you feel about the clothes. Over the years because I've been a yo-yo dieter, I literally have a bunch of clothes for every size from a size 6 to size 16. I'll be alright for a little while. From year to year, I never knew what size I'd be so I just kept all my clothes.

Haha Stevie.. The damn BRA! Same here.. I'm 10 weeks out and down almost 50lbs. One thing that frustrates me at the moment is clothes ! It's a good thing I know. I've already got rid of all my 26 tops and 24 bottoms. All my summer stuff in storage doesn't fit. I feel like I'm changing sizes every 2 weeks.. Seems I'm losing inches more than lbs. I'm in a 16 now and that's 10 weeks ! Holy crap. I can't wait until I hit goal and fill my closets with nice new SMALL clothing !!

I can't wait to go shopping in a regular size clothing store and know that anything I see and like, I can try on. I don't have to go searching for the largest size on the rack, and hoping they have it.

@@pensanefloetry, I'm sure I'm going to repeat at least some of what's already been written to you, as I won't take time to read all the messages.
Your partner is being selfish, wanting to deprive you of a start in changing your life for the better. I'd think that she'd want you to go ahead even if she's sad about her delay.
Both of you have been a little short-sighted. Having surgery about a month apart makes good sense. She'll be in good shape to give you a hand when you need one while you're healing and you'll be healed enough to do the same for her.

How is she going to feel when you lose 3 pounds one week and she "only" loses 1? Will you not be doing this "together" at that point? It sounds like the relationship has bigger issues than wls...

I think she should show here this post and all of the replies. Only a toxic person would act this way. We're not children who need to throw temper tantrums and refuse to go to the birthday party because we can't drive together (that's how I see this.)

I'm sorry but she sounds controlling and selfish. To not want your partner to improve their health when given he opportunity is just strange. I also think you need to talk to her, but it sounds like the conversation needs to be about a lot more than this one thing.
Good luck and do not let her stop you from taking this step toward a healthier life!!!

I agree with everything @@Caribear said.
On another note, this is just my opinion, but in the scope of marriage there are far, far more difficult and serious matters that will come up within the scope of your life together. Not having surgery on the same day to me sounds trivial compared to a lot of other issues. If she makes a huge deal out of this, how can she handle bigger stuff?
Just my thoughts. Good luck and best wishes to you both.

I thought about going to the seminar for about 2 years before some serious medical issues pushed me to attend the seminar. I came out of that saying there is no f^#cking way i can do that.
I resolved myself to diet and exercise. I did that for almost a year and all i did was yo-yo over the same 10-15 lbs. None of my medical issues got any better and i have diabetes, high blood pressure and so on.
So after my last physical in May, i decided that the consequences of not doing more were far worse than to continue on my path. So did the seminar again and made my first appointment for May 25th. Its been a roller coaster since then.
In the end i am currently on the 3rd day of my 14 day pre-op diet. I am 32 pounds down since my first appointment with the surgeon on 5-25 where I was 322 that day and i am sitting at 290. My surgery is scheduled for 9/28.
I am terrified about the process and the future. But I am more terrified that my 9 year old daughter will grow up without her dad. I lost my mom to a heart attack when she was 54 and I was 26. It was devastating to me. I don't want her to go thru that and that's where i draw strength when I think I can't go on!

They found my h pylori during my EGD. Has 2 weeks of treatment, but my surgeon required me to wait 12 weeks after treatment to do the breath test to see if h pylori was gone. He said if you test too early, they might not get accurate result if it is truly gone or just temporarily diminished.
It would be devastating to us to get an ulcer or stomach cancer ( which can be caused by h pylori)
My test showed it was gone after treatment and my surgery was just approved.
Hang in there- this is for your health & safety!

    Hi Ms. Thompson....
Thank you for replying. I also felt the same way...Thinking maybe it's a sign from God not to get surgery. But it can also be a test as in to see how committed we are to get our surgery. About the yeast infection..yea it's terrible. Antibiotics fix one problem and give you another one.
You should definitely look into speaking with you bariatric office to see if you need a second test, that way you don't waste anytime. Wish you good luck and hopefully we both come out ok ????

Try something else until you tolerate it better. I am 5 days out - only got home from hospital yesterday because I was having so much nausea and couldn't keep anything down. I had my SO bring me grape Powerade Zero and that helped. I'm also on anti-nausea meds and Prilosec for stomach acid. I'm not anywhere near my fluid goals but am trying. Plain Water is not my friend - I've been adding sugar free powders to it like crystal light or propel, MiO. Hang in there. Hot tea worked best for me this morning and sf popsicles tonight.

Hang in there. I'm about 5 weeks out. I ran the whole gamut of emotions for pretty much the first 2.5 weeks. From excited to pissed off to upset to questioning everything. This first part can suck. Just go day by day. Get in a routine on when to eat and drink. If you aren't up to your plans protein/ Water guidelines, keep adding to your routine slow and steady. You will get to better days.
On lifting your spirits? Do something special for your self, get a manicure or pedicure, buy a new pair of shoes sit in the sun shine take a walk, color in a book, mediation get you hair cut, massage ( professional or by your SO) soak in a tub if you are allowed. Pick some flowers or buy a bouquet of flowers, take a drive. Play some slots, take some citrus type fruit , cinnamon and slow cooker it on the stove to make the house smell good. Citrus can be up lifting.
Just find an activity that you enjoy and do it even if you feel crappie. Get out of the house it can really change your mood.

So sorry you are having a difficult first few days. You are definitely not alone, as you can see from the other folks who have chimed in. The first stage is tough--it's a huge transition; you're recovering from surgery; you're struggling to figure out how the heck you're going to get in all that Water and Protein. And, on top of it, your brain doesn't understand why you're not eating all the stuff you have in the past ("head hunger").
BUT each day is going to get better! I promise. You're going to get into a groove. A couple of weeks from now, you will look back and see how far you've come, and two weeks after that, you'll see you've gotten even further--and so on and so forth.
At about three days post-op, I had that "Oh God, what did I do" moment, and now at 10 weeks out, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Best decision I could have made!
You will feel this way, too, soon enough! You have a lot to look forward to! Just ride the wave! ❤️

I think everyone goes through the 'regret phase'. I'm three weeks post op. It definitely gets better. I was also super nauseous and vomited a ton. It finally eased up. I'm finding what I can and can't tolerate.
Fighting the "mental hunger" is very hard. It also does start to get better. Hang in there. I'm happy to chat with you. We could exchange numbers or friend each other on fb or something. You're not alone!

Haven't lifted weights yet but walking a lot. I worried so much and still do. Everything will be okay. Follow what your surgeon has told you. This website is a blessing!
