I did my vgs August 2015; started wt 185. I achieved the set up goal wt of 147 at 5 month. Current wt 142. Working towards my ideal wt of 125lb .
    I don't exercise. I have a 2 yrs old so I run behind him.
I eat wherever I want (2-3 bites ) It takes me one day to finish a chicken sandwich. Don't count calories.. Don't eat too much sweets only one a month. Drinking a ref coffee.
    Never vomited or became sick.
Loosing my hair ( this is going on for almost 3mos) I have thick hair and short ( bob) so it is not noticeable .
My boobies and ass are gone so my belly. I m wearing size 6-8 i used to be size 16.. Plus size.. Super happy with my results.

I love Houston! Congratulations on your weight loss, you should try one of the piano bars downtown. They are a fun time and the crowd is older than college aged.

Yeah I was restricted from doing any serious workout for the first 6 to 8 weeks post surgery. So lifting anything over 5lb was strictly prohibited. You may want to discuss this with the surgeon and your union reps to find you another job to do while you recover from surgery. I would honestly take no less than two weeks off post surgery, just to make sure you have adjusted to the surgery and you don't experience any post surgery issues. A lot of the issue most people have experienced have happened within those first few weeks post surgery.

My goal for this year was to never get on the scale EVER again. I played the scale game for 45 years. If i was down i didn't watch my food, if i was ip i would practically starve myself. When i go to the doc/nut they weigh me. If they are happy, i'm happy. Just went shopping. I was sleeved on 01/14/16. I am down from size 22pants to 18 (i am bottom heavy) and a 2/3X top to an XL. This tells me i am doing well. ????

For the first time since my surgery (three months) I tried going to a buffet style restaurant. I was sensible and only got broccoli, green Beans and baked fish, thinking this would work. I was so enamored by the look and smell of the steamed broccoli, that I ate it immediately, (disregardeding my training of EAT Protein FIRST). Granted, I consumed it too fast. Then I had a bite or two of green Beans. Thinking for a second and realizing I was getting that "feeling" I decided to have a few bites of fish. It stuck at the top of my tum tum. I was done. In other words, it was a disaster. I was sick for the next two hours, with fish oozing back up into my throat and making me sick. I learned a hard lesson last night. Protein first, and I'm not ready for buffet's yet, maybe ever.

it seems like it takes me forever and I only eat a few bites....I need to time it and see really what it takes. I also notice that when I get full I get the hiccups, anyone else have that going on????
I would also like to know if at some point you get to finish a meal while it is still hot. It seems like my first bite or two is hot and the rest is cold.

*I want to preface this post with the following: I DO NOT judge anyone for the decisions they made about entering into this process. This is all my experience and my personal choices. What works for me and the reasons I made my choices clearly is different for everyone else. No offense is intended or implied.*
I'm a very open person by nature. It was never an option for me to keep the surgery a secret. I come from a belief that if you have to hide something or lie about something, it means you shouldn't be doing it. I didn't want to enter this process that way. I wanted to be proud of what I was doing for my health and well being. I wanted to be able to educate those who were misinformed (or uninformed) about the process.
My friends know. My entire family knows. My coworkers know. My bosses know. I've been met with overwhelming support and positivity. I have yet to encounter a negative response. I also feel by sharing my journey on social media, I'm forced to be held accountable.
Ultimately, you have to do what's right for you. Sharing my journey is what was right for me.

My surgery was on 12/9. SW 285 CW 251. I am pleased with how things are going. I have been in a stall for 3 weeks, but I know this will change. I average between 700-800 calories. I feel very fortunate that I was able to find a Protein powder that I really like so I have a shake every morning. I also use Musclegen- GENEPRO unflavored powder that is 30 gr of Protein for 1 tbl! This type actually mixes fine in hot liquids, so I have it in my afternoon coffee. Makes getting my protein in a lot easier!

I am with you Joymarie333. I was sleeved on 12/4 and I am also down 25-28 lbs. I thought I was moving too slowly as well, people at work that don't know I had surgery haven't even commented on what I have lost. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing! I am not doing well on getting in my Protein and Water. I just can't bring myself to drink the darn shakes anymore (and of course I have a ton of them) I absolutely have to get on the program, I did not go through all of this to not follow the program!

I am in line with the other "slow pokes" sleeved Dec 8. 5'11" and just a smidgen under 250 on surgery day, and 221.8 on last scale, so 28-ish pounds gone.
Work folks are seeing a change. It is more than 10% of my body weight gone. That's not nothing. I saw no change on the scale for the last 10 days, but I did feel it in my pants. The muffin tops are melting.
I'm getting enough Protein and I'm improving on Water intake, but its constantly reminding myself to drink.
What I'm eating now is not what I thought I would be. eggs and beef are not good. Fish is great. And undercooked goes down better than well done. 900 calories a day is what I'm getting.
And I'm drunk on half a glass of wine. That's new. And I mean DrUnK.

Thank you so much for this post!
When I look at other people having surgery in the same week that I did, and have already lost 60+ pounds, I was getting depressed. My doctor said he was very happy with my progress, but I still felt like I was losing it too slowly. This was the encouragement I needed today: Just to know I'm not alone in what I feel is slow weight loss.
But we can look at the positives, at least we're losing and not gaining weight.

4 people know I had surgery, all of them live out of state and none of them even live in the same state together.
It is easy to keep your surgery a secret.
I have lost almost 100lbs since surgery and over 100lbs from my high weight. My current weight and BMI is the same as what some people start at is and it may seem high but "I carry my weight well", for whatever that is worth. The difference in how I look is massive. I have lost 6 dress sizes, like 15 inches off my lower abdomen, and a lot of other changes.
People that see me often, people in my complex, employees of places I frequent have complimented my weight loss. The people in my complex know that I walk 2-3 times a day. Walking the whole complex is around a mile. They see me all the time. They are probably attributing my weight loss to that. People that know me, and don't know I have had surgery, know that I Keto. They know I am strict about it and in my home there are no bad carbs. I live a lifestyle that matches weight loss.
Unlike what a lot of people that feel like everyone should shout their WLS surgery from the roof tops think. You can easily keep your surgery a secret. People will not be curious or suspect anything out of the ordinary if you live a lifestyle that matches weight loss. Also, to most people WLS is an abstract thought. They haven't experienced it, or seen it up close and if they have it is usually the bad example. If you are going it the right way, you don't draw attention to yourself.
I do think the only way to keep it a secret is to not tell anyone. If you tell a relative or a co-worker there is nothing to stop them from telling another person they don't think will tell.

I guess I never really thought about that....and let me also add that when I didn't tell my husband, we are in the middle of a divorce and he would just judge saying I was getting surgery so I could get skinny and find a new man - NOT what I am doing at all....so while we are technically still married, we are not really in a relationship.
