    3 day post RNY

Thank you all! So far I am 16 days post op. I'm finally getting around a little better by myself. I think the turning point was once the surgeon removed the drain and started me on Vitamins. I'm finally starting to feel like myself again! To all of those with surgery coming up, it will be scary at first, but hang in there. I am currently down 46 lbs from my highest weight.
  3. Hi Irishaggie! My husband was very worrisome as well. He even asked me the day before if I was sure I wanted to still have surgery. -.- I work with 5 girls who all have had the WLS. Some of them had complications, some did not. To be honest, the ones with complications were only having a hard time because they did not follow the rules as their doctor had said. Not saying that if you abide by the rules you won't have any trouble, just saying that you are more likely to have complications if you stray from what the surgeon has told you like no sugar, no fats, Clear liquids first week out, etc. My risks for other health problems and complications were far greater if i did not have the surgery. What pushed me was not because I was overweight and unhappy with how I looked, but because i wanted to be there for my family. I knew my husband would love me no matter what, so the least I can do is try to gain a few more years with him. I think you are making the right decision. I personally had surgery almost one week ago. I won't lie, I am sore... But my future is what i am aiming for. Good luck to you!
  4. Hello all! Has anyone had any issues post op with sleeping in bed? I feel like the bed is too flat for me to get out of throughout the night. I have tried propping myself up with pillows but by the time I wake up, I am all slouched down.

    Mourning food!

Hi Beegirl! food is an addiction for some people, including myself. When you've had a bad day at work or are craving something because you are bored... Food seemed to be the only thing to make me feel better. In the bariatric program I attended, we had to see a psychologist to be cleared for surgery. One of the best things she told me was that I needed to be able to decipher whether it was my stomach telling me I was hungry or if it was my mind. I learned more about my body that way... If my belly rumbled... I was definitely hungry. Another thing I learned is that just like smoking, addictive eating is hard to break. So whenever i crave that cheesecake, I try to do something else that will focus my mind, my hands, and my tastebuds. I'm starting to take up cross stitching... Why? Because it keeps my brain focused, my hands moving, and I'll have sugar free Jello or crystal light near by just in case. I hope what I say helps, but either way, I know what you are going through... And you have to continue to fight girlie! You got this!
  6. Wow what an inspiration! I am so excited to see posts like these because this is one of my goals. Congratulations! You look great!
  7. Hi everyone! I've never done this before, but i think i may start making it a habit. My name is Lindsey and today marks the 3rd day out after having my RNY. So far the pain is minimal. The most pain is from the liver biopsy my surgeon did at the same time as the bypass. Im not hungry at all... Which may be related to the pain meds or the surgery itself. Only time will tell. .
