  1. Hey BariatricPal! It's been a while! But, on February 11th, I was sleeved. I wrote about my experience on my blog: pureed foods phases (recipes, ideas) etc. I'd love to hear them!
  2. hello i àm interested in the care package my surg is in 2wks!! Hi there! Do you have an Instagram account? We are taking most of our requests through there at this time to streamline the process. If not, that's okay, and you can send me a PM. We do have a backlog at the moment but are getting them out as soon as we can.
  3. JustMe29--I sent you a PM. We're from the same Bariatric Center and I'd love to do it.
  4. Wow. Thank you. I got such HORRIBLE backlash on "another" forum that won't be named that this is a breath of fresh air. We've changed up some of the lingo on the page to make it clear what we're doing and why we're doing this--this is open to everyone. We are still pressing forward with sending out the care packages just funded by me personally initially. So, if anyone on this forum would like a few items to tide them by week one post-op: Think Chapstick, Breath Strips, Vitamins, Flavored Packs for Water, Hand Sanitzier, a Pill Box, Powder Soup Packets, Tissues, Lotion, a Sudoku/Puzzle book, Gas X Strips, etc. Send me a PM. We are working with a few sponsors to try and get some samples also. Simple requirement on your end is to post a picture on here when you're well and able to do so. Just incase there is any confusion, this is a free service, not a subscription box.
  5. Ah, there's not an age limit. This was simply started among twentysomethings. We're merely just trying to get a gauge on where there is a need and going from there.
  6. Hey BariatricPal, Yes--BariatricBro here, back again. I'm pretty active on Instagram--I'm not sure how many of you are, but there is a BOOMING community of people on there who are sharing their journeys in REAL TIME. Posting their food diaries, their day to day activities, progress pictures, etc. It's literally clicking an icon every morning and getting a BURST of inspiration. We've changed up some of the lingo on the page to make it clear what we're doing and why we're doing this--this is open to everyone. 7. I never thought I'd be so engaged in the community. You guys inspired me to create my website and really put myself out there. And I can't thank you for that enough. I wrote this post a bit about that: http://www.bariatricbro.com/bariatric-bro-blog/2015/9/21/week-2-facing-reality-and-embracing-the-community But, I've really felt I can say anything here without judgement, even with people relating to those feelings--even the ones I've held deep deep down. The other thing I talk about in my post is about data and repetition. For those who are pre and post surgery, are there any habits that you've established that have kept you in check?
  8. One thing that has always frustrated me, especially as a male, for a majority of my adult life, has been finding clothes at stores. I wrote a little blog post about it here: http://www.bariatricbro.com/bariatric-bro-blog/2015/9/25/finding-the-right-fit-the-prince-charming-dilemma Would love to hear your guys' thoughts and opinions on the topic or if you have another name for it?
  9. (Spot reserved to announce winner)
  10. Hey guys! Bariatric Bro here! As a thank you to everyone who has gone to my blog, read my blog, liked my Facebook page, followed me on Instagram, whatever it may be, I wanted to hold a giveaway as a small token of my appreciation exclusively for BariatricPal members. I'm still a bit early in this journey, but people seem to like Premier Protein a lot. All you have to do is like my Facebook page and then send me a message on there with your BariatricPal forum username. I'll put it into a random generator, have it select a winner, and then send you your favorite case of Premier Protein flavor straight from Amazon. Simple as that! There is another contest running for Facebook users in general, so you can enter twice! Those have different rules though. **As I mentioned before, my site, nor my Facebook page/Twitter/Instagram have any ad-dollars tied to them. It just makes me warm & fuzzy to see people reading my blog posts and wanted to say thank you to you guys. The contest is open to US Residents only 18+. This contest is not sponsored by Premier Protein or any other corporate entity** If this is not in the community guidelines, I can delete the post immediately--just let me know!

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Batwings

I wouldn't worry too much. I've had stretch marks on my arms and shoulders and they are primarily from weightlifting. They'll be opaque.
  12. I wrote a post about loose skin, specifically how it has related to me in the past years with my yo-yo dieting. For me, as a guy, it's always been about the man boobs ( knowingly lovingly as the moobs). I've heard people refer to their arms as "Hello Bettys, Batwings, or Bingowaves" and their lower abdominal area as "kitchen aprons." For me, it was good to get those things out in the open, talk about the insecurities I have with the possibilities of loose skin after WLS at a sorta young age, my daily struggles with trying to hide behind my body, and structuring myself for the those around me, rather than the person who should've been top of mind. http://www.bariatricbro.com/bariatric-bro-blog/2015/9/17/na-na-na-na-na-na-batwings Would love to hear some of your thoughts

    The Pitfalls of Snacking

Ah, thanks! Trying to hopefully give a different perspective on body image/eating disorders from a guys' perspective. It's just not a narrative that's discussed very often.

    The Pitfalls of Snacking

Thanks . That was something my pre-VSG dietician recommended to me. If 4-6 hours pass and I haven't had the next meal, to have a planned snack--similar to what you've mentioned above. String cheese, fruit, etc. However, for me personally, this was more of facing my reality. I think even after surgery, I'm not going to be a snack person, knowing my previous weaknesses of grazing (as you saw, it evolved into the "good stuff" as I got older--but too much of it.) But, that's the beauty of these forums--we each have our own journey, perspective, different way of thinking. As my surgery is a bit far off, I'm hoping to learn more and more as time passes! Thanks for taking the time to read it!

    The Pitfalls of Snacking

Thanks everyone! It's really just a way for me to get all of my stuff out there on paper (well, virtual paper) and hopefully spark some kind of "ah, yeah, I've gone through those situations before" mindset. And, share in some joys as well. If you want to keep up with the blog you can either subscribe or: Like my Facebook page Follow me on Instagram Follow me on Twitter
