Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have found very mixed reactions when it comes to Wellbutrin both here and googling it. I definitely plan on low dosing it for awhile. So many mentioned the short term negative side effects, so I'd like to minimize those. @@CowgirlJane you mentioned the impulse control thing and I remember experiencing that with Prozac like 8-9 years ago. I was taking it because of anger issues. Everyone and everything pissed me off and I was on the verge of going postal every day. Well the Prozac fixed that....it made me not care about ANYTHING, Including the urge to drive off the road into a tree. I pretty much thought...."Hey, that would be cool!" Not really wanting to kill myself, just not caring if I did.
This time around is totally different. I am feeling anger, but mostly because of my obligations and responsibilities to my pets and friends and family and job. I resent having to function normally when I just want to curl up and shut out the whole world. My depression is getting overwhelming and I'm spending more and more time in "the bad place". Last weekend I actually took my guns over to a friend's house because I didn't trust what my impulses might lead to. which then, of course led to an "emergency" session with the counselor and subsequent Wellbutrin recommendation.
@@Valentina hang in there. These anniversaries are so much harder than I anticipated. And thanks everyone for the cyber hugs. It is appreciated.
Anyways, one day at a time......

What was the final thing that you encountered that made you say this is enough? I have had numerous.
    1. Leaving a wife and 2 sons, Husbandless and fatherless.
    2. Not being able to get on amusement park rides with my sons.
    3. Not being able to take my wife to a concert, because i could not fit in a seat.
    4. Avoiding restuarant, movie theaters and sports complexes with tiny seats.
For me, walking through a a department store and some little child looking at me like im a alien had to be one the hardest things.
    Respectfully,
    Joe

I finally got my approval today. I have been going through this process for almost a year now and have been fighting with my insurance company for about 7 months. I was denied by Aetna 3 times and my case went through the external review which I found out today that I won. I hired Lindstrom Obesity Advocacy and they were great. I can't wait to get a date and finally be apart of the losers bench. I feel like I'm getting a second chance at life. For all those having a hard time getting approved DO NOT GIVE UP.

Hello wonderful community! Just a few successes from today I wanted to share.
This afternoon I took my daughter and her friends out for pizza. I ordered a plain salad (Ok'd by doc to do veggies only with lemon on such occasions...) and that's all I ate, even with the amazing looking pie right in front of me.
Tonight, after back to school night, I went out for drinks with some friends . They all had 2 beers each and I had 2 unsweetened ice teas.
This is my 6th day on the pre-op diet and I think I can do this! (8 more days to go....)
How are others doing with temptations??

I have always loved the powder Protein mixed with Water and after surgery I had three a day, Soup with added Protein, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt etc etc. Once I was on pureed foods, I still had the Protein drinks every day. Now I am on 2 a day, one for Breakfast and one before bed. That’s 50g in itself. Otherwise I eat, for lunch and for dinner plus 2 Snacks, a mix of the following (weights can vary depending on what I have had or plan to have the rest of the day):
Roasted chicken breast 3oz: 24g protein
    2 poached eggs: 15g protein
    0% cottage cheese 100g: 10.2g protein
tuna Steak 2.5 oz.: 21g protein
Fat free Greek yogurt 100g: 10.3g protein
    Coconut protein drink: 19g protein
    Salmon 3 oz.: 16g protein
Homemade Beef meatballs 100 g.: (no bread) 33g protein
    Medium skinny latte: 11g protein
Mini light baby bel: 5g protein
Grilled pork chop 2oz.: 12g protein
    Syntrax nectar drinks: 23g protein
    King Prawns 100g: 15g protein
I still use unflavoured protein mix as well and as soon as I can a more varied diet ill ditch it.
At your stage post op I would drink Syntrax Nectar, the Protein Drinks and add unflavoured protein to Soups. Plus cottage cheese and farg greek yogurt. I added unflavoured protein to yogurt once and it was disgusting lol. Hope this helps and congratlations on the surgery

vsgLola129 reacted to NikkiDoc in Did anyone feel pressure by surgeon to so bypass instead of sleeve
My surgeon did not try to sell me on the RNY. I told him I was interested in the sleeve or band and we never even talked about the bypass. I actually saw his original presentation on WLS about 5 years ago but I didn't qualify. He was just starting to perform the sleeve then. He discussed RNY, band and sleeve. I would say he discouraged the band.
My stats are not too different than yours. I was 257 and 5'3" as my starting weight. I had a 6 months insurance mandated diet and was at 242 at the start of my 10 day liquid pre op diet. I am 6.5 months out and am at 174. I am still losing, more slowly that when I first sleeved, but still losing.
There are plenty of people on this board who have had sleeves and are well below the 180-190 that she quoted to you.
If you are not comfortable with what this surgeon is telling you go talk to another one or two. Just because every one else loves her does not mean she is the right one for you. You need to be comfortable with your surgeon and the surgery.
If you do decide on the sleeve I would recommend a different surgeon. You want a surgeon that believes in the sleeve and has a program designed for the sleeve not one modified from RNY. You don't want to have a minor stall or complication and feel like she is thinking "Well this wouldn't have happened it you followed my advise and had RNY". You want a surgeon that has done a large number of sleeves not one that does them occasionally, under duress.

The first seminar I went to was similar. The doctor was biased and pushing towards the gastric band. The entire seminar was structured around it, or so it seemed. After my initial consultation he also said the band was the perfect option for me, I am 5'10 307lbs. I was motivated but also felt uncomfortable that I didn't feel that I had enough information to make an informed decision. After researching I went to a second surgeons seminar and was positively surprised. He was very objective and was very helpful and letting patients decide what they feel is best for them. In the seminar I asked him what would be the motivation for other surgeons to be biased towards certain procedures and he said "Maybe it's their preference on which they like to perform, and have had less difficulties with". The surgeon I chose does over 400 WLS a year for over 25 yrs and just simply is used to do them all. I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe your surgeon is an expert at RNY and just not comfortable with performing the sleeve. But I do have to say I don't think it was professional of her to give you false or misleading information. If you look into the research even in Europe the more widely adapted practice is the sleeve not making it better or worse but it is a form of medical advance that they came across to avoid rerouting your digestive system. Just something to think about I guess.
