  1. I was a vegetarian for years. After surgery I added fish back in occasionally. The thought of eating chicken, beef or pork makes me feel ill. After 15 months, I am getting very tired of my staple foods, but not sure how to expand without adding meat. Also would like to cut down the amount of dairy (yogurt and cheese) that I eat.

    On track?

I really didn't lose anything until about 3 weeks post op. I think my body was fighting it.
  4. I stalled and didn't lose a pound from weeks 2-5. Very frustrating...I'd just had this major surgery and I was sure I was going to be the ONE person who didn't have any benefit from it!
  5. I'm down 52...Slow but steady. Should hit Onederland in the next month. Once I do I will also weigh less than my husband for the first time in our relationshipm, which I am way more excited about than he is. Feeling pretty good...feeling like I have lots of energy for the first time in years!
  6. I was a huge beer and wine drinker before surgery and didn't have a drop for 90 days after. Since then I have had a few glasses of wine and don't really notice a difference. I was warned to not try beer by several VSG veterans (was told it would be painful and I would feel like my chest was going to explode), but today ended up at a brewery that didn't serve anything except beer and was with my sister who doesn't know about my surgery and I didn't feel like explaining it all today so I just ordered a beer. It did make me feel a little full and I sat there and nursed one beer for 90 minutes (I think I would have drank 3 in that time, before). Nothing bad happened and I didn't feel very drunk. So far, in my case... I think all the dire warnings I was given about never drinking again were a bunch of crap. No, I can't drink like before but I can't eat like before either and that's the whole point. I plan to have an occasional beer or wine when I want to and not stress about it anymore.
  7. I was sleeved 10/5, I'm down just 40 lbs....definately on the slow side. Its better than nothing but hard to watch people on here that had surgery after me losing alot more. I eat less than 1000 calories a day and feel hungry alot. My nutritionist suggested I eat less to lose more weight but that doesn't seem realistic.
  8. I just noticed you are having the band....I had the sleeve. Its possible you will recover faster. I had a co-worker that had the band and I think she only missed 2 or 3 days of work.
  9. I only took a week off. I was tired when i came back but other than that, it was fine. I have a desk job but if i did something with alot of moving around i might have needed a few more days.

Do you need some Isopure? I have half a case of the grape and now that I don't have to drink it anymore, I don't want to! I had no use for it except the 3 days prior to surgery and the first few days after.

@@chavezmommy, I am doing good....I had my 13 week checkup today. I have lost 36 lbs which is on the low side of normal from what I am told....but its been a steady 1.5-2 lbs per week. I was so frustrated at first (one woman who had surgery the same day as me has lost almost 70!) but as long as it keeps coming off slow and steady I have decided I am fine with that! I feel like I have finally got the hang of the eating thing....when to eat and how much and what ffull but not stuffed feels like!
  12. @@amboyd I had follow up appts at 1, 3 and 6 weeks. I still have to go at 12 weeks, 6 months and at 1 year.
  13. I have the standard as well, and agree...the whole process could not have been simpler. Highly recommend BCBS Federal! I know several others that had this surgery with different insurance and I had the shortest pre-op diet requirements and quickest approval. I have paid less than $500 out of pocket for everything from copays to labs and surgery.
  14. http://www.specialcheese.com/bakedch.htm I love this stuff and I haven't been able to replicate the recipe and get them this crisp and non-oily. perfect snack for on the go. Its a little pricey though.
  15. Thank you for letting us know about this. I can't replicate your issue. Please assist by providing the following info: What page did you visit when you received this error? Are you using a mobile or desktop device? Which browser? We received many many orders today and this is the first we've heard about this specific issue. it happens off and on, when I try to switch pages/products. I'm using a chromebook....have ordered from the store before from this machine no problem.
  16. I keep getting this error 400 Bad Request Request Header Or Cookie Too Large
  17. @@reach.my.dream it really depends on your insurance and surgeon. I had my first appointment in May and then started the 90 day supervised diet that my insurance required. Once that was over and I had all my other things checked off (tests, psych visit, classes, primary care recommendation) and was submitted to insurance in Sept, and then had surgery Oct 5. Good luck! (I am in Colorado)
  18. I'm right there with you....i'm 7 weeks out and have lost only 20 lbs....haven't noticed any looseness in my clothes or anything. My doc says i'm just going to be a "slow loser" lucky me. I have to keep reminding myself that without surgery i would have lost nothing by now.
  19. I noticed this at about 20 lbs lost....doc said its common to have small changes in vision and hearing due to losing fat behind your eyes and around ear canal. Who knew?

    Any Colorado sleevers?

Hey how are you doing after surgery? Doing pretty well, it will be 6 weeks on Monday. I went back to work after a week and have not had any real issues. My biggest issue is I am not losing as fast as others who had surgery the same day as me....I've lost 12 lbs in 6 weeks and am following instructions exactly. I am told not to compare myself to others but I have met others on here who have lost 30-40 lbs in that time so its frustrating. I was really happy with Dr. Snyder and the Rose Bariatric Center really has a great follow-up program. I've been going to the support group and they have relationships with personal trainers who specialize in working with bariatric patients.
  21. I bought some oatmeal, instant chili packets for lunch (not bad) and some vitamins. Everything got here super quick, and they included a couple samples of calcium chews and shakes.
  22. 5 weeks out today, I am not losing much weight but I am losing my hair already...wasn't expecting that for a couple more months.
  23. I'm 5 weeks out and have only lost 10 lbs total and that was the first 3 weeks....nothing the past 2. I am following instructions to the letter and everyone keeps telling me not to worry. But I'm worried.
  24. My thoughts.....you've come this far and completed all the required pre-op stuff and have insurance approval. If you don't do it now, and then in a year or 2 decide you want to go through with it, will you have to start all over with the monitored diet, testing, insurance approval all over again?
  25. So I am 17 days post-op and I am lagging way behind most of you in the actual weight lost department. Not sure its a stall since I never really started. I've lost 6 lbs since surgery (I lost the same amount the week before surgery on a cleat liquid diet for 3 of those days). Starting to think they did something wrong or did not remove enough of my stomach or something. I have had NO problems getting enough liquids/proteins or eating anything I have tried.
