  1. I had surgery Wednesday too! (RNY) I had a fever between 100 - 100.8 in the hospital, so they kept me an extra night - said it's normal because your body may be fighting off some bacteria that got in during surgery. My discharge paperwork says not to worry unless you get to 101, at which point you should give them a call to see what they want you to do. I've been home since Saturday and I'm still running a low-grade fever off and on through the day - it hasn't gone higher than 99.9 Tylenol is good -- but also, drink your Water and use your deep breathing device (Spirometer) - that's what they had me do in the hospital and that's the ongoing advice still!
  2. Feb 17 for me too, RNYDawn!
  3. Hi all -- this is my first post though I've been lurking and learning from you all for many months! Surgery is Feb. 17! I am a meeting planner and travel for my job and have local events 3 weeks after surgery (road trip within Ohio). I have backup if I can't do it, but I really want to do it! What are the chances I'll feel well enough 3 weeks out? (Not counting the tiredness)
  4. Thank you Monomo! I heard that OSU will sometimes require 3-6 months of the nutrition class (in addition to the Life After Surgery class) before they'll schedule the surgery - I have a friend who said this happened to him. My insurance requires 6 weight-related visits with a PCP, but they don't have to be consecutive. Patience is not one of my virtues but I'm glad to hear you report that it went by quickly. Are you post-op now?
  5. Hi Spoonie - hoping you're still around? I am just starting the process - finished my psych eval yesterday with Dr. Kramer and really feeling anxious about the 1st appointment because I will be crushed if I'm assigned the 6 month nutrition program...I really don't want to delay this another 6 mos. It looks like you didn't have to do that -- do you have tips or tricks to make sure that my nutritionist doesn't assign that length? I'd love to stay in touch with you too if you're willing to mentor!
