  1. Hello all! So I recently hit my six month mark and have been able to lose 100 pounds! As exciting as that is, since hitting that mark I have been sitting at a stall. Anyone else experience this around 6 months? Suggestions?

    Ibuprofen

My doctor said its okay to start using some if I need it (3 months post op). I was told to take chewable and to eat something after taking it to help it not sit in the stomach.

    Anxiety

The meds have really helped. I'm against a lot of medications just because of how I feel they make me feel. Personally, he prescribed me Xanax to help with the anxiety at night. I don't take if every night, but when things are bad I do. It helps. If you're prescribed something, this means your doctor feels the benefits outweigh the negatives. I would give it a try and see what happens. And yes, it does take time. Most days I feel like I'm losing my mind but it's getting better.

    Anxiety

Sadly, I'm at almost two months out and still having issues. My doctor has prescribed me some anti anxiety meds to try and help when things get really bad. I would talk to your pcp and see if they can put you on something to help. I've also made an appointment with a psychologist to get some extra help.
  5. When you walk the halls, they usually drape a hospital robe around your shoulders to cover up your back side better. I wanted to feel mode comfortable and at home, that's why j purchased one myself. After I was home from surgery, that robe was amazing because some days you just don't feel like doing much besides laying around and being comfy.

    Planet Fitness?

I HATE planet fitness. Sorry to be so blunt. They have days where they order in loads of pizza and have it set up by the front door. They also have ice cream socials. Don't risk going there and possibly falling into temptation. So many other great gyms out there that are not such a high cost. Also, look into your local YMCA. Some base their memberships by your income.

    Wisconsin

I'm from Wisconsin too! Had surgery 9/10/15 at Elmbrook in Brookfield.
  8. Things to take to the hospital: - Comfortable slippers or slip-on shoes - Loose-fitting clothes - A puzzle book (crossword or sudoku) - A deck of playing cards - A laptop or iPad - An MP3 player with relaxing music - A good book and/or magazines - Your favorite pillow - Pen, paper, or a journal for recording thoughts and feelings -toothbrush and toothpaste -your own pads. Sometimes the shock of your body can cause a period -CHAPSTICK I also invested in a robe that was my favorite thing ever. I loved that they let me wear it while walking the floors after surgery. Good luck ladies! (And gentleman if any of you commented as well)
  9. I had the same things you did the first few weeks after surgery. I would wake up feeling like I sucked on a sponge all night. After I started getting more fluids in and drinking a g2 every day, things seemed to even themselves out.

Hair is based on a three month cycle. When you have surgery, the nonessential parts of your body shut down. This includes hair. Around 3 months after surgery, you will see a hair loss for about a three month span. After that, you will start to develop new hair and as those come in, more may fall out. The best thing to do is to keep iron and protein up. Biotin helps some, but it's really only 10% of what makes up the hair growth. If you're losing hair at a year out, it could be possible that three months ago you may not have been at the right levels and that's what's causing the loss now.

    2nd day after surgery

Pudding at the second day?! That's crazy. Full liquids is anything that can run off a spoon. Try some yogurt mixed with a little milk.

    ANGRY WITH MY NUTRITIONIST

At two weeks out I got the all clear for puréed foods. Which sounds a lot like what she's telling you to eat. There are so many things you can purée up. I liked cooked carrots, peas and also ricotta bake. The reason they don't want you to eat something so "solid" is just due to the internal incisions healing. They do t what to risk you getting a leak. It sucks, I know, protein starts to taste awful after all this time but try some puréed food.

Can we take delayed release medicine?

I heard that there is no issue with extended release tablets. The only thing I was told was to not take capsules. Also, I had to crush all pills for the first two weeks after surgery. And split anything bigger than a tic tac.

    Anxiety

Don't worry, you're not the only one.

    Anxiety

The thing is, is I don't have chronic anxiety. This is sudden and only since surgery. And I attempted to get in to see a psychiatrist but the wok eat opening is mid December. My doctor has started me on a low dose anxiety med so hopefully the starts to help with things. This chest pain is just what frustrating because it causes a never ending circle of anxiety.
