Ok who is currently on a preop diet?!
Katrinakit replied to Katrinakit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I screwed up yesterday and hope it doesn't affect me reaching my weight loss goals. They want me to lose 14 pounds and I have lost 9 so far with 2 more weeks left so I am hopeful but TOM is coming so not totally confident. I am drinking a lot of Water to flush all that bloat from the sodium out. I have had 2 slip ups since I started. The first time it was the day after my EGD and I think it was because I was out of it on EGD day and got behind on my Protein supplements. Yesterday, it was because I went on a really tiring hike and didn't drink enough water or protein ( I sweat incredible amounts so the 16 oz I brought must have not been enough) By the time I got home I was ravenous. Live and learn, I guess! -
Ohhhhhh I'm so excited for pureeeeds

The difficulty of "goal Weights"
Katrinakit replied to Pedro Valle-Inclan's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I agree. It is really difficult to pick a goal weight when I have been overweight my entire life. At the moment, I have picked a reassess weight instead: 190. When I get to 190 I will reassess whether I am happy there or want to go lower! -

@@asmallerme2016 how exciting! Actually that seems like a lot to lose in 10 days! @@~Pam~64~ I don't know how you all are sticking to such a long preop diet! -
I had a decaf Americano today. It wasn't the same but it made me a little happy anyways

Well my doctor's office has a very specific (and helpful) education series and when you are approximately four weeks from surgery, they start you on optifast on a Saturday (so that everyone is getting the information at the right times. I am grouped with about 5 other women) So whenever your surgery falls from then is how long the diet is but it is supposed to be about 4 weeks. I think they do it that way to make sure that everyone gets all the info they need. I'm fine with it. I will do whatever it takes to get this surgery at this point!

That good ol pre qualification roller coaster
Katrinakit posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well I have had a crazy 8 months trying to qualify for this surgery, I left the office crying on April 5th thinking it wasn't going to happen until August due to a series of unfortunate circumstances and then I got a call this morning saying my surgery is approved and although my surgeon is not available in May the head surgeon at my office has agreed to do it on May 16!!! I cannot handle all of these ups and downs! Can't believe it! Just had to share -

I know I am really struggling today as well. The first week I was all excited which made me more able to keep it up but now optifast is getting old and it is hard to imagine staying on this for 3 more weeks :/ I guess we just have to keep our eyes on the prize! -

I just had it done. I told my dad " that was fun!" And he thought I was weird. I'm a little sleepy but no sore throat. I don't remember a thing other than chatting with the nurses about liquid diets before I went under. They used a small needle for my iv so I barely even felt that!

Tell me a story about your long preop process?
Katrinakit posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My surgery just got delayed by 3 months and I'm really having a hard time dealing with it. I need to hear stories about people that had a really long preop process (like almost a year of continually weighing in and going to support groups) and made it through and got the surgery and are now getting healthy and losing that weight!! Thanks -

I'm super excited as well. I figure that with all I have been through in my life, I can certainly make it through this! So I'm actually not scared at all. The only thing that scares me is the stories of people gaining all their weight back even after this!! -

Trying to decide bypass vs sleeve
Katrinakit replied to Nicki24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really wanted the duodenal switch because my friends who have had it had AMAZING results! But I couldn't find a surgeon in the area who does it. I will take diarrhea over being morbidly obese any day! -

Trying to decide bypass vs sleeve
Katrinakit replied to Nicki24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So it just seems like, since pcos is a metabolic disease, it would make sense to do bypass.
