Catahoula Mom got a reaction from Babbs in VGS 11/02/16. Lost 66 lbs, regained 30, need help!
Thanks to all for the input. I actually do get all my Water in, and I eat healthy at mealtime, it's in between meals mostly at work that I fall apart. Babbs' point "You MUST change your relationship with food or it won't work. Period." is the issue. I am looking at insurance covered options for the therapy part I seem to be missing out on. Additionally, I don't have a personal support system. That's a huge part I think. I didn't think I needed one since I've always been very independent. And at first I didn't.

Catahoula Mom got a reaction from BubblesOhSoSleeved in The color of urine
People with healthy kidneys who don't have to drink like fish to stay hydrated should always have a bit of yellow. Under normal circumstances, dilute urine would indicate that your kidneys aren't working right. But for your increased Water intake you should be seeing clearer urine. Until you start taking Multivitamins with B Vitamins in it- then expect very yellow pee!

Catahoula Mom got a reaction from VivVsg in Anxiety/Health Anxiety folks Help plz
I have been on Paxil for GAD since 2000 when I was 120 lbs of solid muscle. I've tried weaning down my dosage or changing meds and never been able to come off it. But, since it's cheap now, I don't think it's a bad thing to be on. It had nothing to do with my weight gain, btw. You should see your GP about trying a SSRI/NSSRI. You may be able to take it short term, as most people do. It should not medically affect your surgery in any way. Self medicating is always a bad idea, especially since (#1. you're not a doctor and #2.) valium can cause hypotension and reduce the amount of oxygen to the heart muscle, so if you were having a heart attack, would be more harm than good.
    p.s.
    I'm not a doctor either!

Catahoula Mom got a reaction from QTR-nevermore in Did you ever...? (a bit gross)
Have you tried ice? sugar free candy? I honestly think abstinence is the best thing tho. As someone already mentioned, trading one bad habit for another isn't progress. Even QTR-nevermore's plant buying behavior is trading one obsession for another. I know, I have more African Violets than I have space for since having surgery! Hey, nevermore- like African Violets?

Catahoula Mom got a reaction from judy1234 in Did anybody get surgery only letting minimal people know?
I am struggling with this as well. Tomorrow is my first day back at work after surgery. A couple of close coworkers know I'm having "stomach surgery", and that it's not cancer. My mom and two life long friends I never see in person know. I'm not going to lie, but I figure if I stonewall everybody they'll figure it out. Unless I just fail and stay fat. Which I fear at this point given the insane cravings I'm having. Back on point, the reason I don't want to tell my coworkers (you tell one, you've told 'em all, plus the building next door), is that several of them are JERKS about obesity. I know this from both sides of the fence as I was not obese when I started working there a decade ago. Not sure how I'm going to handle it, but I suspect I'll find out tomorrow!
UPDATE: I was too tired to say anything other than the truth. Now everybody knows. And I could care less. No one has said a negative thing to me. I realize I don't care enough about the jerks to worry over what they think.

I too felt hunger from day 2, however it has lessened to tolerable after starting on solid foods. Cravings are still an issue

Catahoula Mom got a reaction from treblecutie23 in Post Op Pain
I was in a huge amount of pain the first few days after surgery, and I have always had a high tolerance for pain before. It gradually got better over the next few days and 5 days out I no longer needed the pain med.

Are you taking a PPI? I was on Carafate and Prevacid for one month post op. These may help you.
If you healing stomach does not like your meal plan, do not progress. Give your stomach some more time to heal. You can stay on the liquids longer. It seems very early to be eating eggs, tuna and chicken. My plan called for creamed Soups, thinned cream of wheat and thinned mashed potatoes along with Water, broth, Protein drinks at the beginning.
You can also try different temperatures and different kinds of water.....tap Water, spring water, purified drinking water. Sounds silly but the sleeve is picky sometimes. There are still some brands of water that are difficult for me to drink. At the beginning I couldn't tolerate plain water. I mixed Apple juice with water 50/50. Yes, it had sugar and carbs but it kept dehydration away. Also, sugar free ice pops were my friend. Some people loved the crushed ice from Sonic.
Each day it will get a little better, you will drink more. If you have any doubt or questions call your surgeons office.

I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you, I just am interested to see that you've been having hunger since week two. My surgery was 5 days ago and I'm starting to feel hunger. I cannot comprehend how acid is supposed to feel like hunger. I am taking Protonix and Pepcid.
Maybe walking around will help with gut motility. It sounds like you were eating for psychoological reasons rather than real hunger. Maybe you were faced with foods you normally don't allow yourself? Or the social situation?
