  2. @, I'm glad you're doing well and are able to manage the pain. That's what I'm concerned about. I've learned to deal with pain and listen to my body. You are a great inspiration to many. I'm glad the cinnamon on the applesauce taking nicely! Keep doing what you're doing and keep us informed.

    Number One Muti Vitamin

Almost any multivitamin would be fine pre-op but post-op you need specific vitamins, so I would look up bariatric multivitamins to make sure that your are getting the nutrients your post-op body will need.

    Best whey protein powder

Whichever protein powder you choose, make sure it's either whey protein isolate or soy protein isolate. Those two are the highest quality, most absorbable proteins out they.
  5. @, it's great to hear from you! Keep up the good work!!

    Really strange physical reaction!

I'm pre-op and I have PCOS. I have hot flashes at times and if I've been walking for a while, I can tend to get drained of my energy, get hot and irritable, and my knees hurt. If I sit down for a few minutes, I'm ok. It's weird. I'm hoping that after the surgery, with time, I won't feel that way.
  7. There's another great book I'm reading, in addition to The Big Book on Gastric Bypass, written by the founder of this site. It's called The Complete Idiot's Guide to Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. It goes over information on all of the weight loss surgeries, as well as all the information about diets, nutrients, recipes, etc. It is a one stop type of book.
  8. I like the EAS Complete Protein ready made shakes, chocolate fudge. I'm pre-op and that's what I'm drinking now. I will probably have some for post-op, and I will buy some different ones if I don't like them. They have soy protein isolate. But I want whey protein isolate as they are the highest level of protein. I have found some choices at Bariatric Advantage but they are kind of expensive and have to be ordered. So, instead I'll look for some at the store that have whey protein isolate and low carbs, low sugar. When I meet with my surgeon I'll know what to do. For now, I'm looking at my options.
  9. @ and manji2013, how are you doing?

    Holiday Hell

@@chasingchloee, whatever decision you make, as the others have said, you are to be congratulated for making this journey. And follow your surgeon's diet, bring a food processor, get your protein in, and have fun. We are here to support each other. Bring your walking shoes, headphones, books. Bring things that inspire you; that one magazine with the outfit you want to wear soon, that clothing magazine you know you're going to, pictures of friends and family that love and support you. Have someone you can call for support. And enjoy yourself. Find joy in your journey. You can do this!!
  11. "Voltaren topical gel. I haven't taken NSAIDS since 2011, but surgeon said Ok to use the topical gel since it doesn't go through the stomach." I usually take Meloxicam for my knees as well but I stopped today, as I'm sure my surgeon won't go for it. It's the only NSAID I take. I'll ask my surgeon about the topical you mentioned.
  12. @@India928, it does get easier after the first three days. The head hunger dies down. I hear it's a great way to prepare ourselves for after the surgery. Keep it up! You can do it!!

    Where are you From ?

Hi! How are you? I was thinking about you and I was looking on insurenutrition.com and it was talking about how important it is to get enough protein. It says that one of the things that can happen is potential hair loss. It's on the home page of the website. I also read that the type of protein is also very important and that we should take in whey protein isolate, which I didn't know before I read it in The Complete Idiot's Guide to Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. It's a really good book, written by Margaret Furtado and Joseph Ewing. I thought this info might help your hair loss. Whatever the reason, I hope it is a really simple fix. Keep us informed. ????

  23. I bought the book off of Amazon for Kindle. It's a great read! I've done my own research on gastric bypass, and this book is giving me some extra information I need. I'm committed to getting this surgery. This book and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery is making more and prepared. Thanks, Alex!!

    Where are you From ?

Congratulations on your weight loss. And I'm sorry that you're experiencing hair loss. Maybe there's a small deficiency? Maybe your doctor can have you run tests? I hope that the hair loss stops.
