What to bring to the hospital?
You will need very little. Comfortable clothes to wear there and home. Slippers for walking a little. Toothbrush/toothpaste. The more you take the more you have to unpack. I slept and walked a little the 8 hours I was there. Good luck!!!

Confused about sleeve stretching
i know a man who has regained 100 lbs. when I see him eat, his plate is full of mashed potatoes, gravy, Mac and cheese, and fried foods. He had no intention of giving up these foods. I could eat like that, and whether the sleeve stretches or the foods slide on through, it doesn't matter. You can still eat yourself right back to where you started, or more. Depends on what you want to do with your life. I just cannot imagine going back to that place.

I KNOW I can eat more than I should
If you try to be always prepared, eat before you leave home, you won't be tempted to go through fast food restaurants. You can easily eat yourself right back to where you started. I can eat anything three years out. I keep Premier shakes on hand, just to have when I need to go to the store or shopping, because I know if I get hungry I might not have such a great choice for food available.

Help! Please!
Percocet should kill ANY pain. Please call your doctor.

Feeling lonely
Take your own dish to gatherings at homes. Low fat meatballs, mini meatloaf, deviled eggs, no crust quiche, so many options. Otherwise at restaurants, seafood bisque, hamburger patty, grilled fish, shrimp, etc. nothing has slowed us down.

So WEAK
Had sleeve and hernia at 67, no pain after 8 hours outpatient, then home. I wonder sometimes why others have a rough go. Seriously I drove in 2 days and mall shopped in 4 days. The fear was the worst part, it was pure relief to be sleeved and feeling great.

Feeling lonely
My husband and I told no one in our social group. We play trivia, and socialize, so out quite a bit, and no one knows our business. We will keep it that way.

Noisy co workers
Being someone that is very private, I would be majorly PISSED.

Hair loss 1 year out
I lost hair from five months for 11/2 years. Biotin was a waste of money. Tell her to invest in a nice wig and endure it because I tried everything and nothing worked except a great wig.

Vent session
The ultimate sacrifice for her children and husband. I applaud her because they were a struggling couple in little old Callahan, Florida.

Vent session
I know it s not easy, especially for younger single women and young parents. But this reminds me of an acquaintance, who told me she and her husband borrowed $25,000 to finance his weight loss surgery. As I was wide eyed, she said it is worth the price for my children to have their daddy around a long time. He was very obese, and it made me really think how much I agreed with her. That was before I knew about the Mexico surgeries, or I would have recommended.

Liquid stage question
Do not overstock. Three years later I still have a pantry full of soups and I was able to grocery shop two days post sleeve. Guess I thought I would be laid up two months. I ended up throwing out protein powders and shakes when I overbought. Bouillon works great too. Jello, Popsicles, fat free chicken soup, etc. you can throw in a few fresh herbs but it wasn't necessary. You have the rest of your life to experiment so relax and take it easy the best you can!

Those with approved insurance, how much did your surgeon/hospital charge insurance?
That is why a lot of people go to Mexico. I say it is all worth it but you should know going in what to expect.
-
Vent session
We paid $500 each ($1,000 total), out of pocket. Would do it again.

Maintenance after one year with sleeve
I have experienced the same, and struggle. Back on shakes.

Silly question
My hubby and I sit side by side on the love seat, and our stomachs talk to us, three years post op. Smile, such a simple problem!

New here and wanting advice.
I know some people have harder times, but my husband and I have not had any nausea or vomiting in three years. No pain, no regret. Best thing ever for our health. Best wishes.

Does EVERYONE have saggy skin?
I am the oldest here, yet I am very vain about my body, my hair, my clothes. I don't have that much saggy skin, but I do know how to camouflage. I know if I lose much more it will go further South, but I don't care. I am so happy to be able to walk without gasping with asthma, to not live to eat, and to have better health with my husband. I have a keen eye for clothes and I dress to look great!

Vitamins
I have tried so many. Maybe your NUT might recommend, because this is so important. I am overloaded on The B vitamins and trying to correct, after being deficient in Thiamine and taking daily shots.

I have just bought it, a Chemist here mentioned it. I think I need a Chemist to decipher it.

My issue or is it his (the hubby)
I believe my lifesaver in these situations would be to walk around the block, since I cannot run.

Concern about Eating Junk
I believe soft drinks is a major culprit too. Haven't read the article yet.
