Anyone have young kids?
No young kids thank you God but I could hug them to death. I was in the hospital 8 hours and home, driving in 2 days and walking the mall in 4 days. Taking care of kids is exhausting so if you have good friends and family please call on them for some playtime! I was 66, no pain or nausea, but I could rest a lot unlike you. Just get help so you can rest, have the fridge full of food, or ask family to take them to McDonalds for a treat! Best of luck!

Failed :(
The horrible withdrawal of nicotine quite a few years ago was the one thing that kept me from ever smoking again. You can stop, it is pure agony, I wish you the best. I have been there and done that. Hug and a prayer!

Stick to what you know
I guess being older and having comorbidities made it easier for us. We had a long time primary doctor, and cardiologist, who were so supportive, and are still are our biggest fans of our weight loss. They had no more solutions to my husbands problems, as he was off the chart with his blood pressure, sleep apnea, diabetes, cellulitis, and general health. He is a tall, lean, tanned and beautiful man today, with a big smile. Thank God for supportive doctors.

Getting sleeved tomorrow
I also had no pain, but spent only 8 hours as an Outpatient, and took one Tramadol as a precaution at home. It is simply mind boggling how we all have such different experiences. Fear of surgery was the worst. After surgery, it was At least ten times easier than I expected.

Struggling
I would sure get some nausea medicine!!! Have any of you tried the Torani SF syrups? Adding frozen fruit or Crystal Light Flavors? Right now I am doing vanilla protein powder, with low cal almond silk, and a T. Of unsweetened Hershey's Cocoa Powder with 1 Stevia added.

Being Sleeves October 3rd and I'm Starving
It is so hard, very hard. In fact the just before and just after surgery is the worst. After that it is a time to delight in new meals, plans, and tastes. The only advice I can offer is to keep busy, really really busy! Good luck!!!!!

Before Your Surgery Suggestion!
I agree, I am uneducated about nutrition also, and vitamin issues. Struggling!.

Before Your Surgery Suggestion!
Thanks KristenLe, I feel very sad for these people, because I referred to my notes, records, food calendar constantly. I cannot imagine how I would have coped without all the knowledge at my fingertips. Plus Bariatric Pal!

Before Your Surgery Suggestion!
I am reading more and more posts of people begging us to tell them when and what to eat and drink especially after surgery. It seems they are not getting good educational information. This is pretty scary for them. I have a huge book given by my surgeon months before surgery. If your surgeon gives you nothing to prepare you how, what and when to eat post surgery, please push his office to advise you where you can find this information. Being prepared and knowing what to eat could save your life. The posts asking can I eat steak one week out tells me that some surgeons are not properly preparing their patients. That means it is up to you! This is so serious!

Blended phase
Not sure what a fish pie is. If you are doubled over in pain, I would be calling the surgeon. You might have eaten too much, or something too solid for this stage. Keep your foods lighter and plenty of liquids. Don't risk your health!
-
Can I eat/drink?
Good luck! Please try wArm broths made from bouillon, sugar free Popsicles, jello, and anything at this stage to get some liquids in. I think a few premier protein shakes will give you much needed energy. Did you see a Nutritionist, and if so, can you call her or him for guidance, or your surgeons staff? If not, keep searching by Google, for food recommendations in stages of VSG. Good luck, day by day you will get stronger!

Blended phase
I never puréed or blended, except shakes. I made good low fat chili, no lumps whatsoever, and we sipped it at five weeks out. Soups, bisque, no crust quiche, eggs, small curd cottage cheese, yogurts, and I made a lot of low fat soups myself. We made sure we took exceptionally small bites, and enjoyed the flavors.

Hi Jamie, I am glad to be back. I was so involved that I needed a hiatus. Have traveled so much, enjoyed kayaking and boating. My husband has lost 100 lbs, and my struggle is a little harder, and I had regained 20 lbs. I wanted the motivation here from so many experts, plus we are having some vitamin issues. I think the experts here have more knowledge than the medical community sometimes! I have lost ten lbs. already, gone back on shakes, and now exercising.

Good luck to you all. I remember that excitement. One thing for sure, the hospital stay, surgery, and recovery was 10 times easier than expected. I was bored, driving and shopping four days after the sleeve.

Meal delivery services
My husband and I were both sleeved and meals are a thing of the past most of the time. In the fridge, I keep salads, smoked salmon, chicken salads tuna, low fat cheese, protein shakes, cottage cheese, boiled eggs, etc. We prefer to eat when we are hungry, me early, him later. Last night I had a delicious boiled egg. Tonight we will eat together and have fresh Florida Wahoo. I really think meal planning would be cumbersome and wasted on us. One other staple is lean baked meatballs, topped with a T. Of homemade Marinara. It works well for me and my husband.
