  1. I live in the Raleigh NC area. I use Fill Center USA in Mooresville. The fee is $165. Would anyone like to car pool this week?
  2. Hi ~ thx for the reply. The fill was over a week ago; I can get a free unfill. I'm wondering if I should. I just now have restx since my band, 04/05/10. My biggest concern is not being able to drink cold liquids or eat that much...no where close to a cup. What are the long adverse affect of being too tight?
  3. this is a very timely question. i got a fill on Tue, 09/07. i was fine that day. the next day, i could only get teaspoons of warm liquid down. i broke on Sat, 09/11, was able to eat some foods but still nothing cold. meat does not bother me. but nothing cold and still only sips of room temp liquids. i was sliming for a few days but i just slowed down my eating. i have an appt for a free UNfill; however, I'm wondering if I really should at this point. it's about a 10 hr round trip and $80 in gas to the Fill Center USA. I have not been able to eat a cup of solid food...3/4 c of cream of wheat. of course, i'm soon hungry. and get this.....rice krispy treats are the only thing i can eat w/o a problem. but they are empty calories. can anyone possibly offer any guidance. TIA
  4. i wonder if the MDs are *trained* to withdraw the saline to check the level? My MD does this. I've had three fills and wonder if its really necessary. How do I find out the documented protocol?
  5. fyi-per my dentist, sugar fee mints have sorbitol...an alcohol....which is drying and causes bad breath.
  6. The 3rd and 4th days were the worst for me. I think I'm pretty tough but as Hummingbird said...I was whipped, weak, and tired. Again, it could be my age. Don't plan on sleeping in a bed either. I had my Sx in MX. The pain meds he gave me was no better than tylenol. On my 3rd fill, my US fill MD made a comment like, Oh yeah, your port is up here. I thought, "where is it ''post to be"? I had more pain from the port than anything. If you have the PTO, take 2 weeks...don't try to be a hero...make investment in yourself.

I was advised not to get the annual plan. Its based on a point system and only good for a yr and everyone's needs are diff. My MD seems to think I will only need 2 more fills to get where I need to be for a total of three. We'll see.
  8. BTW, a local MD ageed to see me....$350 a pop and not w/ an xray either. Also, the FillCenter MD said using a fluro wasn't necessary. Has anyone ever been told that.
  9. I had my first fill at FillCenterUSA, Denver NC. I only had a three questions and he answered them before I could ask and almost all in the same sentance. It was $349 for the first visit and $165 for the next. I spoke at length w/ Charlotte, FillCenter, after speaking w/ a few more before her. She was great. The others didn't seem to have the experience as Charolotte. I asked if there was a customer service record for the MD...sure enough. He had a 4.7 out of 5. I would rate him a 5. Now this was my first visit...the fill was a breeze. I hear they can get tougher.
  10. My MD said 6 wks too. Monday, 5/17 is my first fill. Wish is was #4...wishing the process was going faster!
  11. I do. I headed out and won't be back until late. PM me your email address. BTW, they approved my Sx the very date my insurance lapsed. Dirty rats! I went to MX for my Sx.
  12. I'll get my first fill on 05/17/10, at Fill Centers USA. This location does not have a flouro. I'm really nervous about going that route about him puncturing something. I'm assured he MD is skilled.
  13. I was under the impression that PB is a no-no b/c it gets stuck in the band?
  14. I was banded April 5 and experiencing the same pain. It gets better and better each day. I'm still unable to sleep laying down. Sleeping on the reclining end of the sofa is getting old. My MD said as long as there is no fever, swelling and something else, it's normal.
  15. I have a pinching feeling at my port area. I was banded 04/05/10, and I'm still sleeping sitting up on the reclining end of the sofa. It's much much better over the weekend, but i still can't lay down b/c of the extreme pain. Is the pinching pain normal? And for how long?
