  1. The same thing happened to me about a year after my lap band surgery. My fiancée and I were on our way to NYC and I got so nauseated on the train I had to lay my head on his lap. By the time we got to Penn station I was laying on the floor crying from the pain and nausea! I was able to catch the next train home with my fiancée feeding me sips of cool Water the whole way. Long story short, I had my gallbladder removed the next day as emergency surgery. My surgeon told me if he had not taken it out, I would not have been able to eat or drink without extreme pain. Take my advice and get it done ASAP! Please don't end up like I did in the middle of Penn station scaring the tourists lol

  2. I'm August 31st too, and glad to hear all of you are doing well for the most part!

I write in my phone everyday my intake so I can see how I'm doing. I've been getting 45gms a day of Protein which is below the 60-80 I should but its getting better. I debate if I should drink Water or the Protein at any given time since I don't have any hunger pangs yet. The random gas pains are my biggest issue. I finally went out shopping today and was able to walk around for about an hour, with breaks in between. I go for my follow up on Tuesday and can't wait to see how much weight I've lost so far!

  3. My surgery was August 25th. I weighed 241.2 at my surgeons office in March at my first visit. Yesterday was my first post op visit...got my drain out????, diet advanced to puréed. I weighed 202.2. This morning I hit onederland!!! 199.8!!! This has been an amazing journey so far and worth every moment!

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! I need to get a scale, its one of the things I forgot to pick up before my surgery! My 1 week follow up is on Tuesday and I'm curious to see if I lost anything yet. ????

  4. I am having my surgery in 17 hours, and while this is my third surgery ever, I feel like my emotions have not caught up to me yet. I go back and forth between slight nervousness and nothing at all. Like all the months of work to get to this point which once seemed like an eternity are now just a blink of an eye. I believe what you're feeling is normal and I wish you the best of luck on this rewarding journey!

  5. @@ryebread I've been dieting according to the nutritionist guidelines but my doc only has a requirement for a liquid diet 24 hours prior. I find that strange seeing all the posts about a pure liquid diet for a week plus but I specifically asked if I was misunderstanding something. The more I read the more I get anxious ! Lol

Every surgeon is different, I have to do my diet for 3 weeks prior... I started on the 10th it is NOT easy lol

  6. Scheduled for 8/31 and I'm scared too! I know it's the right thing but just anxious. Glad to find this forum today. ????

You're in good company! We have the same surgery date too. Did you start your pre-op diet yet? I had to start mine last week.

  7. Hi everyone, this is my first post so please be kind! ???? On March 5th, 2012 I had lap band surgery. My HW then was 371lbs., SW was 350 lbs. And within a year I lost about another 72lbs. After that, I seemed to hit a brick wall, and had issues with keeping things down. Long story short, I went to see my surgeon after another vomiting episode and had emergency gallbladder removal the next day. Ever since then, I had more and more issues with my band to the point where I had to go to the ER and have all my Fluid removed due to constant slipping. Since that point my weight gain has sky rocketed from 384, to 391, and now 398! My heaviest weight ever! I have taken full responsibility for going off the handles since my band was deflated, but I am excited for this revision and to get my life back on track. Has anyone else had similar issues? Any and all stories are appreciated, its nice to feel like you're not alone. Best of luck to everyone on their WLJ!!! ????

  8. I' m with ShareeB, I am sooo tired of the Protein Shakes. I have never been one to drink my food nor liked smoothies or reg. shakes, so these Protein shakes from the get go have been hard. Right now I can down protein in (on my 10th day-surgery scheduled for Aug. 10) a few gulps. My fear is after the surgery, getting all my protein in when I have to sip the protein shakes over time.

does anyone have suggestions or helpful tips for post surgery?

I remember after having my lap band (I am currently preparing for a revision), Isopure ready made Protein Drinks were my lifesaver in the sipping stage. I couldn't stomach a regular Protein Shake due to the thicker consistency and I was sick of the taste. Isopure is just that, pure protein with 0 carbs and has almost a juice/sports drink taste I'd different flavors. I hope this helps you!
