I've only had a single person comment on my weight loss...one of the male cohort members in my doctorate program who I consider a friend. He just commented on how hard I must be working and wondered if it would be ok for him to check in as a way to offer support. He prefaced it with a "i know this might sound weird to ask.." None of my female friends or colleagues have said anything and my loss is pretty noticeable.

Granted, I am a newbie, but I don't understand the judgement and anger towards others' food choices. Changing your eating and exercise habits are hard... if they weren't, many of us wouldn't have signed up to have WLS as a tool to help us. We don't know what it is like to be that other person who is "failing" or "wasting" their surgery.
I'm grateful that my hospital had us (basically) start the post op diet from the day of orientation ... 3 oz Protein (eaten first), 2 servings veg and 1 starch (very specific options).. a fruit instead of veg at Breakfast. So I had several months of following that and got used to what I was going to eat post op.... though smaller portions. I feel like that helped me to know how to eat now, but not every one had that experience. A lot of people are flying blind and i feel like they need support, rather than judgement. It reminds me of when thin people shame larger people for what they eat.. or concern troll them with faux concern over their health. That doesn't make them want to change their habits... it just makes them feel like crap.

im a therapist and doctorate student. Was at work a week after surgery. I walk a lot, work in a clinic and have to get clients from lobby downstairs and take to rooms, in addition to going to get files/paperwork, etc. I was fine. Just walked a little slower than usual.

i have PCOS, too. Have nexplanon implant and it's the best!!! PCOS patients do best with hormone based birth control, and this is my favorite type... have tried variations of the pill, provera 10 day pills, and IUD. This is best by far for me.

I wear a Fitbit and do lots of walking throughout the day. Also, at least 4 days at the gym/week an hour a time. Alternate days of swimming/water jogging with weights and weights/treadmill. I started back again at week 6. Am 2 months and 2 days out. Before surgery, I was doing 6 days/week... Hoping to get back to that:)

SweetPotato got a reaction from yerawizardamy in I lost 93 pounds in 4 months but I dont feel much different.
I started at 401.5 and now am at 314... Almost no one has said anything about my weight loss. I don't see it much other than in the way my clothes fit... I've always been a skinny jeans and fitted tops kinda girl and I've noticed my clothes aren't hugging me as tightly as I like. Finally went shopping and realized I went down 3 sizes for the same fit. I try to not focus on the way I look and, instead, on the way I feel. I don't get as winded when I climb stairs and exercise, my back isn't hurting like it used to, I have more energy, etc. the rest will come.

I totally get that. Sometimes we are doing something incorrectly, but don't notice it AND sometimes there is something physically wrong. It would be nice if it didn't automatically jump to us not following directions, but I also feel like there are soooooo many people out there that don't, either because they didn't understand the rules, misunderstood them, forgot, or didn't care for them, that it's hard for medical providers not to go there first.
I am not experiencing that feeling unless I don't chew my 30 times, but my experience isn't the only one. It sounds like you aren't alone in this and, even if you were, it causes you discomfort and should be addressed. I hope you get to talk about it at your follow up and together your surgeon and you can figure out what is causing this.

I appreciate that everyone shares their experiences but there is alot of assuming that their surgeon's approach is the"only" way. I say find a surgeon with documented great results and below average complications AND THEN TRUST HE OR SHE MIGHT ACTUALLY KNOW SOMETHING.
My lapband was placed in 2001, and I was held captive in a German hospital for DAYS. Around day 4 I told the surgeon I thought I might be having a stroke because I had a perma headache, and feared I might die alone. He wisely relented that I needed fresh air, sunshine and my family and set me free.
In Sept 2011 I had that band removed as an outpatient procedure in the USA. I once again felt terrible. I went in to be checked because I thought something was really wrong. Hindsight, I was probably depressed at the band failure and the spot were the port had been was terribly painful.
In Dec 2011, i was sleeved, technically outpatient but due to my sleep apnea was required to stay the night. That was fairly awesome. I am prone to naseau from anesthesia so they hit me hard with the anti naseau drugs. The 2 other ladies there were very social and the nurse was sweet (and bored). Our biggest challenge was the restroom door was HEAVY and she had to let us in and out in our weakened state...Ha.
My surgeon didn't do leak tests...I know...horrible! But, they have good reason for this and why their techniques evolved.
I am not claiming my way was theonly right way but look at the evidence, surgical centers have excellent results.

SweetPotato got a reaction from princesswarrior in What are you guys eating?
i had an egg scrambled with tuna for breakfast, lunch was some diced baked chicken and 2 small boiled brussels sprouts (i ate one), dinner will be salmon and, if i have room, a little bit of zucchini. i usually don't have room for the veg, but i always give it a try:) i have a little container with an oz of low fat cheese with me in case i get too hungry before dinner, but i doubt ill need it. i usually do some variation of this menu... eggs for breakfast, some kind of meat and a tiny big of veg for dinner and lunch, pack some low fat cheese or nuts/seeds (loooooooove sprouted raw pumpkin seeds) for a snack since my days are super long.
