  1. So I went to a medical conference this past weekend and WOW! When I flew at Christmas I was able to buckle ,y belt and have maybe 1-2inches of slack. This weekend...... Tons of slack! Ignore my scarf all over my lap ....????

    Online psych evaluation

I did! I had same process as gracehughes and my insurance cover it but if your insurance doesn't, it's a flat 100$ fee.

    Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!

3 weeks I'm a wine drinker 99% of the time Very rarely, like once a year I might have a cocktail Since surgery I have had 1 glass of wine 4oz No issues, didn't feel tipsy or anything after No weight gain No addiction issues
  4. Oh and another great option I had while away was tuna tartare and sashimi! I can usually always find a sushi place in airports. I flew to Arizona and there were no good options at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport, at least not in my terminal ....
  5. I love that - tuna sandwich minus the bread I'm lucky in that Heathrow has a lot of choices for food, but I don't think I'll eat before I fly, just get a coffee and have my meal on the plane - it's white fish and veg. BA allow you to order your meal in advance, thankfully! I think you can have cheese and crackers as a snack later as well. But you're right - I need to get myself a good water bottle. Protein powders are a no go for me - they taste strange and I can't force myself to drink them. BA is fabulous! It also sounds like you made a great meal choice. What cities are you visiting in the states?
  6. Thanks for replying I've already chosen a window seat as I hate aisle seats - I'm tall so something always gets knocked - my elbow, my foot, my knee - depending on how I'm sitting. I was savvy and booked premium economy so I have extra leg room and a bigger seat, though I sit fine in normal seats really. I wasn't sure if it was okay to be taking things like immodium, but if others are and it's fine then i'll get some from the airport - thanks for the heads up! It would be a good idea to talk with your surgeon about your travel plans. He or she might have some suggestions about what meds to take as well as thoughts on preventing blood clots. Definitely plan to get up and walk frequently. I also know that some people who travel long distances wear compression hose or similar. Stay hydrated, too. Planes can really dry you out. Water and tomato juice/V8 are good choices from drink service. I agree with the tomato juice! I had that on each of my flights and it's not sugary like other juices and it has some substance so it sticks in my little vanilla bean of a sleeve for a bit and makes me feel satisfied.
  7. I just took a quick trip for a medical conference over the weekend. I took a shaker bottle and powdered Protein with. I bought the individual packets because I didn't want security having an issue if I had the powder just in a ziploc bag. I also noticed the airport food = carbs! I went to a bakery/ deli place in airport and had a tuna sandwich minus the bread. That one scoop of tuna was more than enough to fill me up! Good luck and don't forget a Water bottle to refill !

    That's awesome!

    My NSV for last week.....

Thank you! Good luck on your flight I am sure you will be ok!
  10. I have been stalled for four days. THIS SUCKS! After being on my preop diet since January 1st , surgery February 10th I have been losing consistently. Now, I'm stalled. This stinks especially since I'm still in purée stage and I'm basically liquid except for one cup of Soup I purée and drink over about 2 hours every night. I am right at 300-400 calories a day. I know the scale will move but right now I want to throw my scale!!! I think I need to eliminate the Soups and sub in a Protein shake instead. Or just broth. It's hard to live every day on all sweet stuff all day long but if that's what I need to do.... I should say I'm getting in about 40-50oz Water in so I'm also going to try to up that intake also... Excuse me while I go cry in the corner!

    Soft foods diet and travel...

So I ended up taking powder but actually didn't need it! Eggs, and lots of tuna tartare, some regular tuna and it was all good! I met my protein goals every day and I was amazed!!!
  12. So this weekend I am going to a medical conference. I have checked out the menus in the hotel and finding soft foods I can handle should be no problem. Fish tacos I can just pull fish out of, sashimi etc so I should be ok. I'm just worried a bit about Protein intake. Anyone tried to take unopened Protein shakes or powder in a carry on? Every single time I check luggage it gets lost so Unless I'm going to Europe I refuse to check and only carry on. I guess I could try to find a Walgreens or CVS option to buy protein shakes when I arrive if I need to but I would rather not spend my time seeking out a pharmacy.

    Why no caffeine?

Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor so the thought is by constricting the blood vessels you will not heal as quickly.

Tired of "embracing the stall !"

I wish it was that fast! I actually did my liquid diet for about 6 weeks prior to surgery so that 50lbs has been since January 1, 2016, surgery was February 10, 2016. But I did start with purrees and the weight loss has started once again so I am no longer discouraged.

  16. Jett- welcome! I can totally relate to the feeling of not fitting in. I have always felt the same way! I have lost 40lbs and I am beginning to feel normal, like I don't stick out when I'm in public and it's a wonderful feeling!
  17. Wow! Congrats on all of the life changes! And congrats on making the choice once again to be healthier [emoji4]

    Girl Scout Cookies

I buy a box of Cookies, I buy a candy bar from the kid selling outside the grocery store....but with one caveat ... I tell them I will buy one of what they are selling but they must keep the item! They are usually thrilled and I feel good that I supported and even better that I didn't put it in my mouth!
  19. I'm in Chicago....sent you a pm

Hot sauce during clear liquid diet

Stock was my savior during liquid diet pre and post op. The sweet flavor a of most protein shakes gets boring quickly! I lived for my savory stocks.

Hot sauce during clear liquid diet

I used it preop and immediately Postop. Didn't want Frank to think I was abandoning him after surgery! Frank's red hot is my favorite!!! FYI- Frank's in chicken stock reminds me of wings Frank's in beef stock reminds me of Phó Soup I make my own bone broth at home and add Frank's right before consuming!
  22. Surgery Wednesday 7am. Home Thursday 7pm I had to do an upper GI Thursday to check for leaks etc so I know I would not be going home early in the day and was totally ok with that.
  23. Harney and Sons has wonderful teas! I drink their citrus tea daily with lemon. Their Paris tea is wonderful with a touch of Splenda. Two of my favorites!
