Anyone in Chicago? I'm 6 weeks post surgery.

Chicago proper ! I was just sleeved last week so I am still in awe at how quickly I'm dropping weight already. It's unbelievable and brings tears to my eyes almost daily

    Before and after

You look great congratulations! And girl, be glad the unsupportive partner is gone! Time for a whole new life and getting out to meet new people! Just means that person was not the one for you....????

    Whats your full signal?

I am also noticed I sipped too quickly last night trying to finish that last bit of tea in my cup. Big mistake! I paid for that via the uncomfortable tightness...won't do that again! ????????
  4. So obviously I am less than a week out from surgery. I am on Clear liquids still and doing well thus far, Im hitting over 30oz of liquid a day. My question is I was sitting sipping and watching tv and think I was a little overzealous with sipping my tea and felt a bit tight and like I was going to belch. I think I found my full signal. Maybe.... So whats your signal that your little vanilla bean of a stomach is full? (when I watched my post op Upper GI my stomach reminded me of a vanilla bean, thus its new name )

    Whats your full signal?

do you get any type of signal at all? Like feeling "tight" right after you swallow? No belching or hiccups? every time I swallow I feel tight almost like someone with a band who feels tight and then relief as the liquid passes to rest of stomach. I should say I have a sleeve not a band.

    Whats your full signal?

Thanks all! Very helpful!!! I think I found my stopping point without trying to. Im still on liquids and will see my surgeon next week for my post op follow up. I am sure we will discuss amounts etc at that appointment. Personally, I want to be on liquids for a few weeks to months before I progress to soft foods. We shall see what my surgeon and nutritionist think through!

Congratulations! Less than a month to the new you!!
  8. So, a few of us have expressed a fear or apprehension when flying. Could you give us some tips and some "this is normal don't worry/freak out" ??? Fear of flying has come up on these hoards due to people flying to Mexico or other destinations for surgery. I have actually taken to reading some flight attendant blogs and watching FA videos on YouTube after a recent holiday flight with some yucky unexpected turbulence. The FA on that flight was great and reassuring when I was a tad tense so I figured if they can do this every day, multiple times a day I can too! Maybe it's just my personality and being a Nurse I don't like not being in control. ????✈️

Thank you! That was very helpful! After posting this thread I actually started watching " Air Disasters" I am sure you have probably heard of the show and funny enough it has helped me to feel better about flying. I guess its the feeling of well that problem we are aware of and it will not happen again type thing. So, when I fly in a few weeks I will keep this post in mind! Thank you for the reassurance. How is your weight loss journey coming along??

Any other gay sleevers out there?

Welcome! I do know there are a lot of men on this site that are very helpful. We are all a community though and will try to help you in any way we can! Kudos to you for doing a long pre op diet! I did mine from January 1st 2016 until my surgery Feburary 10th and it was one of the best things I have ever done. Having less abdominal weight means when I roll on my side to sleep or even lay on the couch there is not as much pulling and tugging on my incisions. Sounds like you are doing an amazing job on your pre op diet and trust me when I say it will make adjusting post op so much easier! Congratulations on making the decision to have surgery!

    Reporting from my hospital bed

I will say that being a female who carried a significant amount of weight in her abdomen I am glad I lost almost 30lbs pre op. When you lay on your side in bed that stomach pulls and can be very uncomfortable even with splinting with a pillow. I am glad I had a smaller abdomen thus less pulling ????

The only incision that pinches and burns a bit is the large incision where they pulled my stomach out. But I am splinting with pillows like a mad woman to help any discomfort to a minimum. I agree! Time to get the show on the road!!

    Holy Naseua!

I was sleeved on February 10th also. Although I am still having some gas pains mine are had bubbling up and pushing on my diaphragm. First time it happened it was very unsettling! ???? I am now home and resting. No pain to speak of, just sore and yes my abdomen is distended. I look at least 5 mos pregnant! Only one of my incisions is pinching me at times and that's because that was the large incision that had to be made for removal of my stomach.

  16. As I finish prepping and getting the house in order I thought I would say.. Thank you all for the wealth of knowledge these boards provide. I could not have made it through the last 6 months without you! By this time tomorrow I will officially be the proud owner of a new gastric sleeve ???? Good luck to those running the surgery gauntlet with me tomorrow and can't wait to report back on how it all went !

    Hobbies?

So other than micromanaging your diet ( like we all must do post op! Lol) what are your hobbies? How do you spend your free time? For me I adore photography and have my iPhone and my DSLR with me at all times. I also enjoy..... Reading Opera Museums Gilded age mansions Antiques Symphony ( classical music) Musical theatre (wicked and the like) I'm a history nut and specifically like researching Chicago history. So, what are your hobbies?
  19. Is anyone in to podcasts? I am somewhat addicted to podcasts. Especially Serial season 1, Undisclosed and the Truth and Justice Pod. So is anyone else watching the Adnan Sayed case or addicted to any other podcasts I should check out??

    Flying 4 weeks after surgery

How do you deal with protein shakes when you fly? I try to never ch do luggage so I take everything carry on. How do you get it through security? Do you just check luggage with a bunch of shakes or powder in it?
