I believe I am finally back on track! It was a pretty rough go for a few days but today has been a much better day. I have managed to get about 45 grams of Protein in so far but having more trouble with Water. The bloat is awful. I swear I can feel Fluid backing up my throat. I know I need to be moving around more but have created a "nest" in my living room and tend to stay there a lot. Do you both have Facebook? I tend to be on there a lot and would love to keep up with you both there as well!! My facebook is Edie Smith Steer edie091371@yahoo.com
    How are you both doing?
@ the rest of our October family. Sorry I fell off the radar. I suppose it was a little harder process then I thought it would be. I hope you are all wonderful and I hope you each are finding your way successfully thru your journeys.

I have post op on Thursday. Just barely getting my energy back, but my last night I started getting a burning feeling in my stomach near the left side just when it was starting to not feel so sore. All I can say us I'm so tired of liquids. Lol... hoping to get to advance to soft/pureed foods after Thursday. And I agree on the gas, but I have yet to have a bm which kind of concerns me.

They say sip sip sip bevause you will get full from just a sip of Water so it will feel like it takes forever to get all your fluids in. At least that's what I've noticed with myself. Good luck! You'll do great!

Hi This is Ron wife Sherry. . I wanted to post on here to you guys it was very important to him that I post to you guys so I wanted to make sure I didn't forget.
He has gone thru the surgery and the day after he was doing great but started throwing up that night so they did a cat scan to see why and he had a kink in the intestine so they took him back to surgery and fixed that however while in surgery not sure if it was the 1st or 2nd surgery but he got sick while in surgery and tried to throw up but couldn't with the tu e down his throat and it went back down into his lungs this is called aspiration. It is very serious condition where the acids from the stomach contents can burn and damage the lungs which is what happened. He was taken to another hospital for a few hours then flown to the university of Maryland shock tram unit (LUNG UNIT) he has been on a machine that pumps blood thru his lungs to help heal his lungs . And is on oxygen to help him breathe. He is in very serious condition however we are hopeful that he will recover. But it will take time we are not sure how long .so if you don't hear from him that is why..if you have any questions please email me at slyliston2000@yahoo.Com as I won't see any posts here to tell you how he is doing and I'm not sure who all he was friends with and please pray for him that he gets thru this ty all so much for the support you all gave him during his research of his surgery and helping him prepare for it

Life is full of trade-offs. I am 29 months post-op from RNY gastric bypass surgery. I have lost a lot of weight. I fit into fabulous clothes. My stamina (ability to perform physical labor) has improved dramatically. Almost all of my numerous medical conditions are in remission. I still miss food, the taste, the pleasure of eating a great meal, the joys of eating. But I would repeat this surgery in a heartbeat.

After surgery, my taste buds changed. I love to drink Water. But after surgery, the Water tasted extremely chlorinated and I could hardly drink it. Fortunately they give you ice chunks and then sugar free popsicles. As time went on I found that Crystal light helped with my Fluid requirements.
I don't think sipping was a problem for me. But the key is walk, walk, walk. It will accelerate the recovery process and help with relieving the pain from surgery.

For those in the "soft" food stage and beyond ... this is my all time FAVORITE recipe! I'm almost 6 months post-op and this remains a staple in my diet. I've shared it before but since there are so many new people at any given time, I thought I'd share it again. I take copies of this recipe to my monthly WLS meetings to hand out and haven't found anyone yet that didn't love it. It may take a little time to prep, but it makes 12 servings that take less than 1 1/2 minutes to reheat in the microwave. Trust me, you will be thrilled then. When I came home from a 3 hour shopping trip yesterday I was so happy I'd made one the day before because I had lunch in a snap! I've never been able to stomach scrambled eggs but because this is so moist and delicious it's never given me any problem. It's also very portable. I take it when I go to someone's house in my lil cooler. If they have a Protein I can eat, I'll add a lil with it. Enjoy
    Magic Crust Quiche - Ham
    Ingredients

    2 cups 1% Lowfat Milk
    1/2 cup All-purpose flour
    5 large Eggs
1/2 cup 2% Reduced Fat Pepper Jack cheese shredded
1/2 cup 2% Reduced Fat Swiss Cheese shredded
1/2 cup 2% Reduced Fat Sharp Cheddar Cheese shredded
    7 oz Ham diced small
1/4 cup Cooked red bell pepper diced small
1/4 cup Cooked Vidalia or sweet onion diced small
Preheat oven to 350˚. In a blender or NutriBullet, mix eggs, milk and flour until blended, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder or whatever you’d like. In a bowl combine all cheeses, cooked meat and cooked veggies. Now add blended mixture and stir to combine. Pour into an 8”x8” or 9”x9” square glass dish. Bake for 50-55 minutes. Let stand 5-10 before serving. You can add whatever cheeses, veggies or meats suit your taste. I steer clear of chicken as it seems to dry to me. The small amount of flour firms up the sides and bottom making the “magic crust” while saving tons of calories. The Nutrition Facts are based on recipe above. FYI - the heavier meats, like ground beef, tend to fall to the bottom. Serving size is approximately 2”x2 1/2”

Just wanted to to share a product I found. It's Protein Water called Protein2O!!! 16.9oz, 15g protein per bottle, 70 calories. It's amazeballs!!! My favorite it berry Splash, then Grape Splash, then the Lemon Splash. You can kinda taste the protein in the lemon, but it's not undrinkable. I found them at my local grocery store Kroger's, but you can also find them at Walmart and Vitamin World.
