    Hey all,
Surgery went well, and I'm in a room where Ill be overnight.
Those gas pains... man, I thought I was going to die. Fortunately they've subsided quite a bit. I'm sure I'll feel even better once I get up and walking.
Thank you all for your kind words and advice!!

I have to be at the hospital in 3 1/2 hours too! We can do this. I'm anxious too, but am ready to take back my life and not be buried under this weight.
Prayers for peace and a smooth surgery for you and the others having surgery today.

You'll do great.......I know this because I spy a Schnauzer in your avi pic.
Schnauzers bring good luck with surgeries. My oldest has now been at a my side as I recovered from 4 different post-op healings. Great breed.
Surgery is going to go great. Just like Inner Surfer Girl said.....get up and walk every 3-4 hours at least. You'll profit from doing so in a big way.

Surgery is in 12 hours. Have to be at the hospital in 9 hours.
I'm excited, but also unsettled? Nervous, scared, anxious? I don't even know what I am anymore.
Any words of wisdom?? Wish me luck!

I am feeling the same way. My surgery is on the 29th and I have thought about backing out more than once. Some days I don't worry and others I fear that I will have a leak or stricture and be in the hospital for months. I am a religious person so I have been praying and I hope everything goes smoothly for the both of us.

I'm post-op day 5. I've done well since surgery. I stopped taking the hydrocodone yesterday; I only took a few doses, anyway. Any remaining pain is gas pain.
I'm focusing on Protein, Water, and walking. Honestly, I'm not measuring yet because I don't want to discourage myself. I know I'm not dehydrated, and I'm able to take larger sips each day.
I have a few tips that seem to be helping me:
    1. Walk around the house when you drink your Protein. This helps everything go down, especially my small thyroid pill, which I resumed on day 2.
    2. Use decaffeinated, herbal teas to help get your Water in. There are so many flavors that taste wonderful without any sugar or milk. I personally do not like to drink regular iced tea, but I love herbal teas. Especially ones with mint, which are soothing to my teeny, tiny stomach.
    3. Try not to stress over hunger. I had pretty bad head hunger (craving specific foods) the first few days, but that's already starting to decrease. I still want to eat things I used to eat, of course, but the intensity is lessening a little each day.
    4. Remember to rest often. You are still recovering from surgery. The more you rest now, the shorter your overall recovery will be.
Congratulations, fellow new sleevers! We're really doing this!

MNSkolGal reacted to Dub in Got nekkid at work yesterday !
Worked a long shift yesterday and stayed over to nail down a few things. It was my last workday prior to the surgery.
Made a quick pitstop in the restroom on the walk out. Glanced in the mirror while washing hands and it hit me.......this is the last time you'll be here at this weight. Everything is about to change.
It also registered that I was wearing a cotton polo work shirt with the company's logo. It was a 5XLT. I plan on returning to work wearing newer, smaller shirts as I'm guessing I'll be out 3-4 weeks due to related hernia repairs.
The old shirt went into the trash.
    Awesome feeling.
I walked out of there feeling like I was heading towards a great place. Even had less limp, maybe even a bit of swagger in my step.
Old Sasquatch exited the job. Slim Shady will be returning.
Looking for the lean living ahead.

I'm on the 29th. I'm sort of nervous today and haven't been sleeping well at night. I'm doing some final cleaning around the house today to help my husband while I'm recovering. On liquids starting today. Also, I'm about to have my menstrual cycle, so I'm NOT looking forward to that. Dr said if all goes well, I can go home same day.
Excited and anxious! Good luck fellow sleevers!

I honestly don't know how long my surgery was, but the recovery was very easy. Like you, I expected it to be hard, but it wasn't. I had arranged to stay with family the first week as I had stairs. I ended up only staying the first night after discharge, and the next day I drove myself home. I was also able to sleep in a bed from the get go, when I'd read that so many others had to sleep in a recliner. It was my first surgery ever so I planned for the worst, but ended up getting the best.

There, there, there now...........it will be alright in a minute.
When they insert the IV needle in the back of your hand, you will feel a little prick. My first ex- husband was a little prick!
For a fact, once they get you placed on the operating table, the anesthesiologist may ask you to do something like counting backward from 100. So here you go......100, 99, 98...........Wake up Rena. Wake up. You're all done and you did really well. We will be taking you to you room soon.
Pain from the surgery was never an issue for me. My sleeve was my 12th operation under anesthetic, with the least pain and easiest recovery. I had four miniscule incisions, and only the biggest one was uncomfortable for a couple of days.
You have multitudes of bariatric brothers and sisters here to encourage you. I am rooting for you and expecting to hear soon that you are on your way to re-inventing yourself. The post-op diet is a mighty inconvenient aspect of this process, but once you get past the first month and back on regular cooked food that tastes like something, you will be surprised at how fast time flies. Hang in there, kiddo.
