  1. I'm 61. I'm 1 year post-op. I lost 10 lbs the few weeks pre-op as my Dr. put me on liquids. I lost another 30 post-op and that was it. I continue to struggle...up 2 lbs...down 2-3 lbs. I can't drop below 175 and my goal weight is 110 (I'm only 5 feet tall). I have 60-80 grams of Protein daily and almost always at 64 oz Water daily. Terribly disheartened and disappointed. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but getting more and more depressed as the months go by and the weight doesn't go down. I feel I'm still dealing with the same struggle as before surgery but now I can't even eat enough to enjoy the food. Terribly disheartened.

    4 more days!

Mine is the 14th, too! And I'm all of what you are...nervous, excited, anxious, scared. I've had to be on full liquids since Friday and it's not been as difficult as I thought. Though right now I'm wanting food...a lot! But I want to be successful and I want to start my "new" life so I'm going to stick to my liquids and try to refocus my thoughts on something else other than the food I can't eat. Good luck, Natasha! I'm beaming positive thoughts your way!
  3. Like others are saying, you need to speak with your doctor since they are all different. My doctor requires a liquid diet one week pre-op because it helps to shrink the liver. I work with a woman who had sleeve and her doctor didn't require any pre-op diet at all. So, I don't think there is a right and wrong, just a preference per doctor. Deep breaths and remember, diet is not an exact science. Everybody is different and every doctor has his/her own preferences. But it helps to take slow, deep breaths and try to remain relaxed. Stress doesn't help anything. You'll do fine without Protein for a short time. Vegetarians do it. You can too. Slow...deep...breaths.

    Nervous

I understand, MzAlice. I'm feeling the same way. I keep asking myself, What am I doing? I must be crazy. If I would just have followed through on any one of my diets, I wouldn't be here. And, if I can be on full liquids for a week, then I really CAN do it myself. Then I realize, that's the old me talking. The me that doesn't want to change. But we have to do this to be healthy. Yes, it's hard. Now. My surgery is Aug. 14th. Every time I find myself talking myself out of it, I remember, nothing I've done in the past worked. This is proven. It will work. You can do it. Just take it one day at a time, one hour at a time if you need to. Take a few deep breaths and remind yourself how you got here and where you are going.

    Liquid diet starts today

I understand how you're feeling, John. I just started full liquids on Friday and I'm not sure if I have it right. Does your pre-op diet come with any other info, like how many calories you're supposed to be ingesting or low carb Protein drinks or low-sodium? I'm sure you can do this! Just remember that you're doing it for you. To live a better, healthier life. You CAN do it!

    Any August Sleevers?

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. I just signed up on this site. My pre-op is 7 days full liquids. But I'm not real sure if I know what that's supposed to mean. There were no discussions about calories or carbs. My post op is much less restrictive: 3 days clear liquids, 9 days of full liquids, 7 days of puree/soft and then "as tolerated" after 21 days.
