  1. Try drinking the protein shakes at room temperature rather than cold. I learned that warm drinks hurt less than cold ones

    Any August Sleevers?

Also! Before your surgery drink lots of water and make sure you are hydrated. I Made the Mistake of not drinking enough water and since you cant eat or drink after midnight the night before you sre SUPER thirsty by the time your surgery is done. My doctor didn't let me drink til the day after once my xrays were taken. So that was about 36 hours without a drink and it sucked.

    Any August Sleevers?

I live in new jersey so there's Japanese and Chinese restaurants in every corner that sell it. Pretty much any spot with sushi sells it. It's like an appetizer soup and it's clear. I read that you can go to an Asian market and purchase the soy bean paste to make it. I haven't had any luck finding it made at the store.

    Any August Sleevers?

Hmmm I wouldn't say it feels like a big meal because only once did I feel that way and it was because I chugged my liquid vitamins and felt really sick afterwards. However hunger is very supressed. And you just don't feel like eating much. A lot of it for me is that it hurts to eat cold things or sometimes my stomach cramps when I eat so you just don't feel like eating often. It has gotten a lot better though. You do feel satisfied surprisingly quick. For example, my mom made me some split pea soup and put in several containers. Each of those would normally be one serving of soup for me. But it has taken me about 3 days to eat one container. Also those Campbell cream based soups that come in a can and you add one can of water, well one of those will be what I eat throughout the entire day. I've been losing a pound a day til day 6 and half a pound a day afterwards. You can privately message me if you'd like!

    Incision issues?

On my 3rd or 4th day post op I rolled belly down on my bed out of curiosity. Instead of crying out in pain I felt relieved. Ever since I slept belly down to sooth the pain or held a pillow to my stomach. I found it helps a lot. As for my incisions, I'm on day 8, are all closed and crusted now. Doc told me I could remove the glue so I've been picking at it. They no longer hurt but I will have the occasional itch.

    Any August Sleevers?

@@Floey84 it's ok. Just don't do it again. I cheated on my first and second pre op diet days too. The first 3 or 4 days are the worst. You feel like you will go crazy. But I figured as long as I'm drinking flavored water or sugar free something it's easier. I love miso soup so I had that a couple of times. My surgery went well without complications. I'm at day 8 post op and the pounds just fall off. You barely get hungry. It's more like psychological hunger. And once you eat 3 spoonfuls of soup or a couple of protein shake sips you will feel full. Don't listen to people who are saying "why are you doing this if you aren't committed" cause of course you are committed if you are in ur pre op diet and I know it's hard. You will do great!
  7. Yeah screw that! This is NOT the easy way out. It's hard. It's painful and it requires lots of work

    Incision issues?

How's the scarring for you guys?
  9. Wooooo! It will get better every day !
  10. Ok what I've been doing is pouring a whole scoop in a separate container each day and eating the protein throughout the day. I add half to a shake and later to oatmeal or yogurt cause I figured 60g a meal was too much. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for letting me know!
  11. Aw I'm sorry to hear that @Mrswrath. I can't imagine being in the hospital any longer than I was already there for or being stuck with just liquids for so long. . I'm young and active too and without complications it still sucked so I can't imagine what you must be going thru. But hey maybe you lose weight even quicker once the retained fluids are gone seeing that you are merely drinking juice
  12. I made mine sunny side up. Have you tried them scrambled?
  13. Ok so yesterday was a great day! I went biking and it felt grest. I felt like I didn't have surgery at all. My good mood was back and then bam I got my period. I was craving some protein and I was sick of the smoothies. So I figured hey....eggs are almost as soft as jello and if I can have oatmeal why not an egg? So I cooked an egg. And ate it ever so slowly and enjoyed every bit of it. That Is until it really hit my stomach and it started hurting so bad. It gave me cramps and ouch is was just bad all around. That was around 7pm last night. I even went for a walk, however my belly still hurts. So umm...yep. I'll stick to protein shakes for the rest of the time. I learned my lesson. Just thought I'd share my experience. However on the bright side I dropped another half a pound!
  14. Hello everyone, Background info: I started at 200lbs and 34 bmi. Fat mass of 43%. I'm a female. My sleeve was done on August 7th. I have lost 10lbs since. I'm at 190 and measure 5"4. I was dropping about 2 pounds a day until Wednesday but as expected that stopped. And I've been stalled for 3 days. My question is how much should I expect to lose at each stage. And at what rate? I've read a lot of posts but most of them is people who's starting weight was higher so they lose more quicker. Is there anyone who started off with similar stats as mine who could guide me?
  15. Wow! Just wow! That is amazing! How long ago did you get the surgery?
  16. Congrats! It's always a great feeling! I'm stuck at 10lbs since Wednesday I have chicken and cheese cravings. And I'm tired of sweet stuff. My doctor told me I could have split pea Soup with meat in it as long as it is very well blended and on the watery side. I'm happy about this. Especially cause cold things still bother me a bit. Gas is almost completely gone. My energy is good. I wish I could go back to boxing already but I know my sutures would split open so I gotta be patient. I asked the doc about gummy Vitamins and he said not for a couple more weeks. Ugh
  17. August 7th Sleever here! Cheers
  18. Thank you! Today I didn't drop any more pounds but I tried the "skinny dress" I bought right before surgery. I made it so that it would fit me. Today the zipper closed all the way! It's still a little tight on my back but it's getting there.
  19. Today Is my 6th day post op. And I guess the first day that the scale hasn't shown a pound less. Which kinda sucks but I knew it couldn't be THAT quick forever. Anyway the pain is mostly gone. And today Is my check up with the doctor. Imma bombard him with questions. Yesterday was actually a pretty good day cause one of my roommates got home and we walked to this event on campus. So that was almost 2 miles more of walking I did on top of my 20 min walks. Then when my other roommates got home we all sat in the living room and talked and joked around. That really helped my mood. Finally my brother, whom initially I didn't want to tell about the surgery but ended up finding out thru my parents and their inability to lie, called me and he started telling me that I should have told him that he would never had judged me about me getting the surgery. I told him it wasn't personal, nobody other than my parents (who are paying for it) knew. He said he understood why and that I deserve it (I am the only one in my family who is always working out yet has the hardest time losing supposed to be because of policystic ovary) and he started asking me about it and how I felt and the process and what I could eat. And honestly, it felt great. Letting everything out of my chest and finally talking to someone about it. I guess the lesson is that you can find support in the most unexpected of places (my brother flipped when I got a small tattoo and flipped yet again when I got a small nose piercing) yet it's always welcome.
  20. Today is my 5th day post op and I feel significantly better. I still have gas and I feel like I am swallowing air. However other than that I am doing great. I've already lost 10 lbs! And I've been walking every day. Today I went to the park and walked 20 minutes at a good pace. I'm still having trouble drinking the protein and really getting enough food in cause I get full with just a couple of sips. I have my follow up appointment tomorrow

    Swallowing air

I'm 5 days post op. If I get distracted I swallow like a normal person but if I'm thinking about it I keep taking small bits of air
  22. How are you doing @@Quany?
  23. I made it through today and I drank a strained miso soup and a whole can of coconut water! With not too many pains. We even ran some errands and cleaned My room. My mom helped me with laundry and I folded it and put it away. Walking and moving around definitely helps. Tomorrow I can have cream soups! Yay
  24. Dr. Sadek was my surgeon. He's pretty popular around here. I can't wait for tomorrow so that I can eat cream soups. Cause today I could barely drink my vitamins and nothing else. I'm like a picky child who doesn't want to eat haha.
