Assuming you are in the US, no one needs to know why you are out. Your immediate supervisors only need to know how long you will be out. Therefore, you need to come up with a stock answer. " I'm having some health issues and need to take some time off. Thank you for your concern, but I do not wish to discuss it outside my family. " If they push, ask if they had sex the night before. When they freak, you can explain that you view your personal health information the same way they view their sex life - as a private matter which no one is entitled to ask about.
Trust me. It works. Particularly with the do-gooder types who say they just want to offer help. Generally shuts them down. Best of luck.

I don't think you were ness playing the devil's advocate! I think you're just being very realistic!
I agree with them still talking anyway however, I still feel like - its on them at that point. Thats their brains and thats something they are gonna have to work through. I have enough problems of my own trying to get through life. Don't want/need to take theirs on either! lol.

Thanks everyone. I had a meeting this afternoon and it seems my job is safe for now, so that's a relief. I appreciate your support, which is why I like having these forums. They have already been a huge help with my pre-op stresses!

I too have bounced this ball of doubt around. I decided in May that enough was enough. I'm a basket case a lot of the time but I finally decided that I'm doing this for my health and why shouldn't I? When I ask that question the fact that I want to be around a long time to come, see my kids grow and experience life without this weight keeping me down I see hands down it's a good decision. To hell with anyone who judges me otherwise.

I brought my own long bathrobe which was great for walking the halls post-op (to throw over the peek-a-boo butt gown!). Make sure the sleeves are loose enough because you'll have an IV. Didn't have any problems with mine. I also brought my slip-on crocs so I didn't have to walk in socks everywhere. Both were a lifesaver. I agree with others on the lip balm! Very glad I had that, too.

I brought my own robe for walking and also dry Shampoo because my hair gets really gross really fast. I spent two nights and on the third morning I did actually shower and was glad I had a small thing of soap and shampoo.

I had gone through all the prep work 18 months ago, lost the weight for pre-op, jumped through all the hurdles of classes, and dieting and psychological exams....got all the way to getting a surgery date. Then I let my doubts get the best of me and I called it off. I regret that decision. I regret that decision daily, but now I'm back in the program working my way through everything again. This time I have no regrets. Hang in there, doubts are normal, being scared is normal, this is a big life changing decision. But you've got this! You won't regret it later.

Yeah I got one at Walmart for like 12.00. Makes my tummy feel better after a walk or any pain I have. Also I have used my pill splitter more than I thought. I got Constipation and I bought Gummy Fiber and worked great.

Heating pad is a must, it alleviates the soreness of your incisions and warms up your core. I am 12 days out and still use it.

I am not defending the use of drugs, I am defending a person who is being attacked. I am not religious, but I think there are good aspects (teachings), for example:
Just an fyi, medicinal marijuana does not have to be "smoked". It can be inhaled as a vapor, ingested as a pill or food. These ways do not include the harmful effects of the traditional "smoking" way.
I'm still not sure how the traditional way of smoking marijuana is "far worse on the lungs than cigarettes." I would be happy to read any literature you have to support this.
There are plenty of articles on pubmed.gov with double blind placebo controlled studies (from overseas) citing the medical benefits of medicinal marijuana.

Love my Blender bottles for my Protein Shakes. Love my heating pad. And most of all, a good sense of humor! Oh...and if you have bathroom issues, dear goodness, it's a journey. It took me FOREVER to go -- Smooth Moves Tea is the only thing that helped when DuraEase/and Miralax did nothing. I have baby spoons as well, to make sure I take tiny bits of food at a time, and forces me to eat slower. So glad I did that.

I was really happy I brought some pre-moistened facial wipes. They were cooling and made me feel just a little fresher. Only other things I used were phone and headphones to listen to music.

I used nothing that I brought apart from my hairbrush and extension cord for my phone charger. Everything else I just never cared about using or they provided for me, so I just used theirs. I also didn't shower there. Back home in 2 days!

Comfortable pillows and a place where you can sleep upright for a few days. What I've needed most is patience!!!
Also--my mom brought me a teacup that has a lid. I can put tea or broth in it and drink as slowly as I need to and put the lid back on when I need a break.

Went to the park with my kids yesterday & was able to play with them on all the equipment, even go down the slide! They loved it that I played & could keep up with them. They kept talking about it all night.
It was a GREAT Mother's Day!!!
