Am I Too Old For Banding Opp
I'm not sure where you got that idea from!!.. Yes people over 60 should be able to get the band if they don't have lots of other co morbidities. Remember this is to improve your health. sharon

First Fill....Took 2 Hours!!!
I'm sorry you had that experience. I had my fill today also 2.5 cc in my 10 cc band. It went smoothly. I don't think what you went through is the "norm". I too am looking for better restriction. Although I did lose 4 lbs since last visit 3 weeks ago so I'm happy. My next fill is May 22nd.

Where Is The Connecticut Band Fam
Look there are some doctors who don't even require a preop diet. You'll be fine. Liquids tend to do that with everyone, well because their liquids. Talk to the doctor, your almost there. Everyone's weight loss is individual. I only lost 8 lbs preop. It all depends on how much weight you have to lose and your body type. Don't beat yourself up over this. Your journey has just begun. There are difficulties at all stages. Banding isn't a miracle its a process that we all need to embrace and move forward. Hang in there..... sharon:)

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
Yes I find wearing a bra aggravates it during the day as the band is just above the incision sites. If I twist to my left I feel a lot of pulling on the right side. I see the doctor tomorrow for my first fill. Hooray!!! sharon:)

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
remember hunger is our enemy.....I too am having difficulty getting enough Protein each day. I'm starting to get growling and am hungry at times. Bought Protein Bars which are helping. Made a "paste" out of chicken, fatfree miracle whip, cranberry sauce (one tablespoon) salt pepper and onions. Very good to dip saltines into and fills you up quickly. I started a journal but haven't kept it up...been so tired lately. sharon

Can't give up COFFEE!
I never thought about the acidity of the coffee and a smaller pouch. Good point. I limit it to one a day and sometimes none. SODA!!! there is no point to soda at all...I used to drink it all the time and have complete4ly given it up and feel better. Less joint pain. Isn't that funny? Good luck veryone....we're still plugging along sharon

Can't give up COFFEE!
I wasn't told to give up coffe either. I have one cup a day in the morning. It is a appetite stimulator though that may be his reasoning. You should ask him...I don't think it has anything to do with streching out your stomach sharon:)

No you are human like the rest of us. We all have slumps whether its pre op or post op. Just pick yourself up and move on....I lost 8 lbs post op and was told by the surgeon that my live looked great and thanked me for shrinking it down as it made surgery much easier on them. That's really what its all about working together. Hang in there its only just begun. sharon;)

Would It Kill Me....
the fact that I am a nurse only validates the fact that I have a clearer understanding of the pathophysiology of the body as well the fact that physicians heed to their own opinions and experiences as to what is right or wrong. I feel patients should understand that what their physician says is what they should go by. It is "ok" that they also realize that other physicians do things different. That doesn't make their doctor right or wrong. The question here was what our physicians' were having us do. We answered. So we shouldn't be penalized for providing that information. This really should be the end of this as we have beat it to death. sharon:)

Would It Kill Me....
I guess I'm not understanding the reason for this blog. When asked a question it appears to me that we are all obligated to say what we are doing. As I stated before, my surgeon had a different approach than others so I did go with what my surgeon had advised. We were asked what others were doing.....obviously no one is validating people to go against medical advice...but it obvious that all physicians do have a different approach. So don't make us out to be the bad guys when we are asked our opinions and then give them. I wouldn't "advise" anyone to do anything. I certainly don't have a problem telling people what my surgeon advised me to do who has been doing this for a long time also. Its great to get information from those who have been there done that and can alert us to reasons behind that information. As stated before we all have different health issues, different weights to lose and different approaches. Stating what our "program plan" has been is not a validation that someone else should change their "program plan". Lots of input here.....all good sharon:)

Would It Kill Me....
I believe people are asking us our opinions of what we may have done. This isn't advice to anyone to do it. The reason for the board is to get that honesty. Should people follow their physicians' advice? Of course but obviously it is clear that all physicians' have different approaches to the same surgery. That is the point... sharon:)
