  1. I was just approved for surgery BC/BS PPO Connecticut. It was submitted on 1/31 and approved on 2/7 Not bad timing. I have my preop appt on Thursday. Hoping to be a March bandster!!! sharon:)
  2. Hello everyone I found out today I was approved!!! That was very fast. My paperwork was submitted on January 31st and I was approved on February 7th. Because I was in the hospital it took a while to get back to them. I have my pre op appt on Thursday. What does that mean exactly??? I am assuming it means my physical and a date formy surgery. Hopefully it is soon. Its just the begginning. I have no time at work since I've been out two weeksnow with a bronchial infection. I should return to work this Friday. So I'm hoping there are no complications from surgery. Will try to schedule iton a Thursday so I don't have to take a lot of time off. Everyone else doing well!!! This weather sucks...I'm so sick of winter.... sharon:)
  3. No I am a Patriots Fan.... sharon;)
  4. :thumbup:Hi GUys I just got out the hospital with a terrible bronchial infection!! I was sooooo sick. I got a call from Alba from Tischler's office while I was out so I'm hoping it is conected to my approval. I did call the insurance company while I was inpatient to check on the status they said it was still pending. I'll find out tomorrow. Hope its good news. Would love to be a March bandster sharon:)
  5. just put on some more weight, that should be easy enough sharon
  6. I would highly recommend Dr. Tischler He has a new person in with him ow as his business has increased. As a registered nurse I have tracked him for a while. I wored i the community as a nurse for two years and he was the only physician whose patients I did NOT follow in the community. Which means he doesn't have complications. He is very detailed in evaluating patients for appropriateness for surgery. I am waiting for a date for surgery as my paperwork has just been submitted to insurance company. I have BCBS and was told that they are behind about a mont :yuke:( so good luck to everyone!!! sharon;)
  7. congratulations ct man!!!! its so close.....hooray!!!! what a great relief to the start of a new journey.... sharon:)
  8. Queeneyes how was your surgery?? thinking of you sharon:)
  9. I talked with Dr. Tischler's office today and they have all my stuff together just waiting for them to send to insurance company. I'm also hoping for a March surgery. Just got back from a cruise and was thinking how Dr. Tischler can have his own office right on the ship. It is incredible how much you notice larger people when your large yourself. I'm so sick of being fat....don't want to wear anything just comfortable in flannels and sweats. Here's hoping I hear something soon. Good luck to everyone. St. Raph's has a great program. I've had friends who live on the other side of Ct go there for their great surgeons. Your in good hands. sharon:)
  10. I didn't think Nina was leaving for good! I know they got another APRN who was at the last support group meeting. I'm just waiting for my stuff to be presented to the insurance company. Alba said it was put together and sent "upstairs" and waiting to be sent out. So here's hoping it is soon. I just got a call today from a pulmonologist who has to see me now as I have my second sleep study on Friday night. I'll have to get c pap I'm sure. But that wont delay anything. I think support through and through is the key. This is a lifetime commitment not just a short transition. I'm getting psyched and scared at the same time. I haven't been below 200 lbs in years. That would be such a great feeling. To succeed. Really succeed. sharon RN/MSN
  11. Hello Everyone I'm waiting for the surgery date. I've finished with my testing and waiting for Dr. T's office (Alba) to send the information into the insurance company. I'm hoping for a February or March date....I feel like I'm going to weight 50lbs more if I don't get it soon. Don't know why I can't stop eating...good luck to everyone!!! sharon
  12. +Thank you so much for this information and the research you put into it. It is very helpful. sharon;)
  13. I think there is a red flag here. A surgeon who doesn't know what your baseline is prior to surgery is not the surgeon you want. The reason to be on a preop diet is because it helps shrink your liver which has to be moved during surgery. You should have a cardiology workup and upper GI series to rule ouit any anamolies....run..run fast to another surgeon. I am a registered nurse and have seen some pretty botched up surgeries. Anyone who has 100 lbs to lose is at risk for a lot of things. You should have a sugar test to rule out diabetes a disease that is often hidden. Sharon RN/MSN
  14. I had bloodwork, cardiology (with a stress test and echocardiogram) upper GI series, nutritionist, psychologist and sleep study. I had them done all after my first visit with Dr. Tischler on 12/27 and was done with the testing by 01/18/08. I'm now waiting for things to be sent to the insurance company. sharon;)
  15. How are you doing Ct. Man??? sharon
  16. Congratulations to you guys...I have had everything done and waiting. I just got back from a cruise/feeding frenzy!!! I will be emailing my surgeon's assitant tomorrow to see where I'm at. I'm hoping they will submit to insurance soon. I'm hoping for a February date!!! I so hope I don't go through what everyone here seems to have gone through with insurance! I have BC/BS in Connecticut so I think it won't be a hassle Good luck to you all!!! sharon:)
  17. I am a registered nurse and I can tell you that most plastic surgeons will not do that surgery in one sitting. No one should be under anesthesia for more than 4 hours especially for elective surgery. Your taking a big risk for what could be a 10-12 hour surgery with a guy out of the country. That is a far cry from getting lapband done. Check this out thoroughly its a huge surgery. sharon RN/MSN
  18. boy that was fast!!! congratulations!!! we're all entering our own journeys....shaorn:)
  19. Well hello everyone....i saw the dr on 12/27 and have completed all the tests (many many) as of yesterday 1/16/08. I have one more visit on 2/7 with nutritionist. I'm hoping it won't take long to get approval. I have BC/BS from Ct and heard that it only takes days to get approval...here's hoping. My next appt is at the end of March. I can't stop eating though...have any of you had that problem? I feel like every meal is my last meal.. sharon
  20. Alison, I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. I am a nurse and as I read this I had a few questions. Have you had previous surgeries? Are you a diabetic? and what is your medical history. I have seen some botched up jobs on patients and it maybe that this is one of those. I don't believe it just happened. sharon RN/MSN
  21. Well good luck to you....sharon
  22. I also have said to people if I was a diabetic and opted to get an implanted insulin pump no one would question it. So I am obese which is a disease and I've opted for a lapband....same difference in my mind... sharon;)
  23. Hello Everyone I've started telling people but have decided to stop. I'm getting comments like "have you tried weight watchers?" and are you sure you want to do this....We all know that's a stupid question to ask a fat person. I've decided to just keep quiet to others about it now. I don't have a date yet but have had almost everything done. Waiting for my echocardiogram and stress test next week and one more nutrition consult then done. Hope to get banded in April or May.. sharon RN/MSN
  24. Wow, my husband is a retired state employee so its great to hear that it took so little time. I have my sleep study tonight and my cardiology tests next week. One more nutrition visit on Feb7 then I'm done...or should I say I'm just beginning... Hey your fat like the rest of us...or like my daughter used to say when she was little your "fluffy" mom thanks for the support Sharon:)
