crusso got a reaction from dekathe in *HELP* Dr. Altamirano or Dr. Zavalza?
I'm getting a band to sleeve revision with Dr. Altamirano on Sept 11th. I did a ton of research and it all lead back to him. After my FaceTime consult with him it sealed the deal. I've never had a Dr. that I can Facebook message and will reply back to me almost instantly even at midnight. He's amazing.

I explicitly said it wasn't healthy and a few days of this won't kill her either (assuming she is otherwise healthy). And it can be a big deal to push back surgery if her leave is all set up and everything else. And this may be what people with eating disorders do, or athletes making weight, but she's doing it for one weigh in.
Peace & love and I hope the OP makes her date! I totally understand where you're coming from, girl. Good luck! You will need to follow the diet very strictly when you get home, so if you aren't ready for THAT then yes, you should delay a bit.

I used shapers to hide my fat.
I used shapers after WLS to hide the rolls of hanging skin.
I went from shapers to compression garnments after plastics.
Trust me, for me it has been never ending in these tight garnments.
I've been in them so long, now I feel naked without them.
For me, I had to have surgery to correct the hanging skin all over my body. The thigh lift did wonders for my body. Each person is different. You never know. . .

He is probably behind because he was rear ended yesterday so he had to reschedule his surgery. Have you joined his Facebook support group? He is extremely accessible on Facebook messenger. I messaged him the other night around midnight and he got back to me within a minute.

I definately have them most pronounced are my upper arms. For some reason I ended up with my grandmothers arms.
When I gained weight it collected there along with my stomach and legs.
Now that I have lost 119lbs I seen to have lost a lot all over but my legs seem to have gotten the thinnest the fastest. Yes, it has left me with lots of sagging skin everywhere. I call it the sharpei look. Or the mudslide. LOL!
I went into this knowing that would happen and sometime after reaching my goal and stabilizing I will likely have some plastics to help me feel better about the real problem areas.
My arms seem to be the most stubborn place of all regardless of what I do. I can wear a large or a 12 on my bottom half. That would be much smaller but the stomach skin holds me back. If I lost my tummy skin I would likely fit into a size 8 on the bottom. On top I am still wearing an xl mostly because my arms are still too big for a smaller size.
I can fit in a large in some cases but it is tight on my arms.
At the end of the day, I am thrilled with how I look right now and mostly how much better I feel. I can do things I have not been able to do for many years.
The weirdest feeling for me is how much I actually care about my appearance. When I weighed 315, I really truly could have cared less about how I looked in clothes and hated shopping. I would buy things that hid my body. Now I just want to show off how great I look, loose skin and all!

I'm pre-op for sleeve (Dr. Altimarno in MX) and my bmi is close to 60. Ever since I went over about 260lbs I've had fat rolls collect at the inner tops of my thighs. I wear a shaper every day to help conceal them but they're terrible! I'm hoping weight loss will help reduce them but I'm afraid they'll just become saggy skin and I'll never get away from damn thigh shapers. Does anyone else have this issue? Is the only way to correct it with surgery?

There is no problem bringing medications back across the border as long as you can show they are for your personal use. A prescription always helps. I believe Vitamins should be no problem at all.

Has anyone had a hard time bringing meds back across the border? I'd be very interested in getting b-12 shots to bring home.

I think my taste buds missed flavor more than my new tummy missed food. Maybe I should invent a new line of bariatric Protein drinks starting with spaghetti and meatball flavored!
Some of us were not on Clear liquids as long as you, but your surgeon has his reasons. You will be on full liquids soon. You will think that cream of chicken Soup is the best food ever!

Zero act of decorum to show for yourself seeing as how your spewing out credentials and high life living a little bit of respect goes along way but at the end of the day some just can't be helped.

I'm sorry you're frustrated Running2thesleeve. I think the reason you're getting these responses is because what you're trying to get across isn't coming through very clear. It's hard for people to be supportive if they can't understand your message.

There's is a pre-op health questionnaire that Bariatric Pal surgeons do and will address concerns based off the questionnaire. I looked into OCC as well. I would strongly recommend skyping or sending a private message to Dr. Altamirano if for nothing else but information. He is very accessible and responds quickly. There's no cost or commitment needed to talk to him.

Insurance approved, pre op completed, 12 days to surgery date. Hello, joined yesterday. My name is Sharee. I'm on my 7th day of liver shrink. Protein Shake for Breakfast, lunch and 3oz meat, veggie for dinner with small fruit Snacks as in between meals. What the doctor ordered. I'm so hungry and it's weird because I went missing meals a good portion of my life. Has anyone else struggled during this time? It's like 12 days can't get her fast enough. I'm irritable and moody and at times weak but I refuse to not follow the diet. I want my liver to be as small as it needs to have no problems during surgery...
    Impatiently waiting...

I'm looking to revision from band to sleeve. I was banded in 2011 and never had much in terms of weight loss results. I'm hoping the sleeve will be a better solution for me. I'm self-pay so I've been researching Mexico surgeons.

crusso reacted to OKCPirate in Question
This is my opinion based on my observations of testimonials and stories of WLS patients that I read prior to getting my surgery - most of the hoops that third party payers (people with insurance) are forced to jump through are ways of weeding out those who are not motivated to properly use the tool. Part of the testing is CYA stuff that we do in the US to prevent lawsuits.
While this is an observation, it is obviously not universally true...there are some highly motivated people on this site who jumped through the insurance companies hoops to have their surgery, and they did so quickly to get the show on the road. But if you were motivated enough to put your own money into WLS and go down to Mexico, odds are you are highly compliant and ready to make the change.
So which ever route you take, self-pay or insurance, those who make it through the initial process, eh, already have skin in the game. The people who are not disciplined enough to get through all the steps, are probably not good candidates, and those who have someone else do all their work for them, or were pressured into surgery are often the biggest whiners that "it doesn't work."
It's just a tool, you still have to do the work.
