    Serious question. Please help.

Tell me how you knew you had slippage. I can't eat or drink anything without it needing to come up. I have been drinking slim fast for the past few days hoping it will ease things. What do you think???

    Need some advice/help

I had my fill and was fine for awhile and now I can't eat anything without vomiting. Does anyone know why this happens?
  3. This is kindof motivation for a newbie. I have hit a wall and want to know when I can expect to get going on this thing. I haven't had a fill yet. Thanks in advance. Right away? After your first fill? Second fill? Third fill? Fifth? Sixth?

    Eating for weight training/Cardio

I'm having the same problem with fueling. I am training for a walking half marathon. I walk about 25 miles a week. I have trouble getting enough Proteins and carbs down due to the tightness of my band. I asked an acquaintance who is a nutritionist and she suggested yogurt smoothies to help me with the carbs. Some have higher carbs than others. She said to go for them. I also have not been losing ANY weight and she suggested eating 1500-1800 calories instead of the 1200 I have been doing. I am looking for any guidance. Thanks

6 months post op in NC~ Needs a buddy

Hey there! I am up for being your buddy. I hope to get as good as you give. Female, married with 2 teens. From Ohio, but originally an Okie.. I had my surgery on Dec 20, 2007. I was 287 and am now at 234. Would like to lose 100 more. I have joined a walking club in preparation for walking a marathon and my weight has stabilized a bit, even though I know I am eating well. Would like to discuss food, exercise, and general change and perception issues. Hope to hear from you.

clothes don't fit like they used to?

I found it took a lot of time for my tummy swelling to go down from the surgery. That could be part of the problem also. Good luck.

Anybody else peeved at Lane Bryant?

I don't care for Lane Bryant. Never have. Too expensive. But I LOVE CJ Banks. Their clothes are stylish, inexpensive, and well built.... and everything fits. Their petites are petite. LB's I always had to hem, and I am only 5'2. Not really that short. Love CJ Banks. That is my plus size store of choice.
  8. I got a fill on Tuesday, and apparently ate more than I should. Now I am in so much pain with gas and shoulder pain. Laying down relieves it, but nothing else. I spoke with the Doctor and he told me to stay on liquids, which I am fine with, but has anyone had that and what did you do to alleviate it? Thanks in advance.

    How soon?

As long as you are not taking any pain medications, you can drive. I think it is best that your kids have the following week off. You will probably be just fine by then and able to enjoy them home with you. Take care and good luck.

    Banded 2-21, having problems

Did your surgeon or Nurse Practioner speak to you about gas pains? This sounds like them. I know many people suffered through them that have had this surgery. But... if I am concerned, I call the doctor. Remember, he works for you. Good luck.

    Frustrated

I remember the bandster frustration you are feeling. I think watching your food portion is VERY important, but I think it is a three pronged effort. Food, Water, and exercise. I get 120+ ounces of water a day, and yes I am floating, but I am also losing a consistent 3 pounds a week. Also, I exercise regulary 5 times a week. I was sitting in the waiting room before my support group and in the group I was sitting in, I was the last banded and had lost the most weight. When I asked if everyone was exercising, I was the only one. There were all sorts of excuses: like the trainer hadn't come to her house yet, I work full time (so do I), etc. It was a light bulb for me that this exercise was a really important part of the key. So, since starting the water and exercising I have dropped a total of 12 pounds. My surgery was 12/20/07 and I have lost 37 pounds. Good luck.

    Cincinnati Bandsters

I wish I could answer your questions, but I only know how my specific insurance worked. I do, however, want to wish you good luck on your journey. The band works if you work with it. Take care.

    2 month post-op progress

From my highest at home, I have lost 34 pounds. From the doctors scale, I have lost 30. And I have 4 more days until 2 months out. So I think that is a good thing. I was in the office the other day and there was several women discussing that they weren't losing fast, and asked what I was doing. None of them exercised. I am exercising 5 days at least for 45 minutes. I think that is the big difference.

Why are there so many women bandsters?

This post strikes me differently. In my initial support I was one of 2 women in a group of about 10 men. Stereotypically, I was so stunned, specifically due to the don't drink beer thing. But the men do so well, I suspect we will see a rise. Good luck. Mary Faith
  15. If I didn't know that I didn't write that, I would have that I had. I remember sitting in the doctor's lounge and hearing the exact type of conversation. All I could think was "I bet I lose more than they do." Now, I don't know for sure, but the nutrionist swears that those who follow the list do and those who don't, do little.

How do you deal with head hunger??

I have no answer for you, but fill your pain. Just had a Hershey's kiss for no reason, and I had eaten really well today.

    Don't Fear the Fill

I went to get my fill this morning and man was it fast. I thought it would take longer than it did, but I was out of there in less than 10 minutes. The fill part was sooo quick. I was so surprised. Looking at the fluoroscopy was pretty cool too!!

    NSV's for the Merry Losers

I love this idea of a Non-Scale Victory. I am keeping a box in my closet and fill it with clothes to go the thrift store when they no longer fit. I took my first box yesterday. Also, I crossed my legs, but not the one leg over the other, but the put my ankle on my knee. It has been a LONG time since I have done that. I also took a link off of my watch. Thanks for making me look at it differently.
  20. Kelin- you were exactly the inspiration I need. I really wanted to hear from people who have been in this for some time. I know we all lose weight in the beginning, but I loved hearing your story. Would you say it took a fill or two to get in a groove or were you losing from the get go???? Thanks so much.

    Unrealistic Ideals

I am pretty rational person, and I just spent "hours" going through the photo threads, so I believe in this process. That being said, there is something in my little mind that is having a hard time with the fact that I had the surgery on 12/20/07 and I am not "skinny" yet. I think it is perpetuated by the looks of coworkers that say to me, "she had surgery, but I can't really tell." I wish I could fall asleep and wake up a month down the road. I started this journey at 287 and weighed 261.5 this morning, and my rational mind says "wow", but the last 5 days I have gone up and down on the scale and am up a pound. I am doing everything right. Now, if I can only get my rational mind to take over. Thanks for listening.

How do you do a poll?

I want to ask a poll question, but don't know how to do a poll. Any help?
  23. I am almost 4 weeks out and have not lost a pound in a week. In fact, I have gained and lost the same pound. I read that here over and over and know that it is normal. But I am eating between 1000 and 1200 calories, I am walk/running on the treadmill for 30 minutes, and drinking so much Water I could float. How can I not be losing weight? Also, I just found out I am not getting my fill until the 12th of February. That is almost a month away. I am SOOOOOO afraid I will lose my momentum and start gaining weight. I really need some support from someone who is going through this or has been through this and has ended up on the other end okay. If I see the scale stay the same or go up again, I think I will crack!!!!!!!:frown::Banane42:

    Needing Some Support

I feel your pain. First, I am fighting off the same two pounds constantly, and then my scale broke. At my post op appt, the surgeon jokingly asked me if I listed presurgery, because they told me over and over at about 3 to 4 weeks your body starts holding on to the weight and won't let go until about week 6 and then you get your fill. Keep your head up and know you are not the only one.
  25. My stats are similiar to yours and I am with Humana and it was covered. I did find out recently though that it was coverd because my employer accepted it. Good luck.
