Yeah!! Congrats to the new comers and way to go to all who have started the journey. Sleeved on July 21st--23 lbs down, but at a stall--hope it moves on next week! I'm okay with it tho, because I'm more excited about my break up with food:). I'm mentally ready to see food as substance to live, and not something to over indulge in. Best wishes!

Hey gang--just checking in. Congrats to those who finished us out in July. I just hit 2 weeks and 3 days--I'm at a stall---anyone else hit that first stall in week 2?

I'm sorry to those of you who are having problems. Hope it passes sooner than later. Glad to hear all the good news.
Anyone else hit that dreaded early stall? I hit mine at 2 weeks(I'm 2 weeks 3 days out). It sucks, especially since I'm still on soft foods(not even at eggs yet). But, I've been reassured it will pass within a week or 2.

Here's the best part of this...I have no guilty pleasures. I eat anything I want. I just do it sparingly and in doing that, without the guilt. For me, the guilt was always the amount I ate...or that I was the fat woman with Ring Dings, chips, and soda in her shopping cart. Life is so much better this way with a cart full of lean Protein, veggies, good carbs...and a few treats like thin pretzels, SF jello/pudding, and unsalted nuts.

I was sleeved in KS. No excess skin, but I really think it depends on how much weight you have to lose and how fast you lose it-not necessarily race. I was sleeved 4/1/15 have lost 45 lbs since surgery (am 5 lbs. from goal now). That's an average of about 2.5 lbs. /week. Good luck!

This surgery is a journey. I am nearly 2months out and I have learned so much about how i depended on food for my emotions. I am just recently getting my groove with having a soft diet ( my surgeon requires 6 month fork tender and soft food) but I have lost nearly 40 pounds in 2 months! I tend to get all or near my 60g of Protein a day but struggle with fluids. I have had to really work on eating slow because that still seems to be a habit that is hard to break. I find that weight loss surgery and the discussion thereof is very taboo in the African American community. But it appears where I live there they are more African American women overweight and obese and unhealthy then there are there aren't. I live in North Carolina. Up until my surgery I didn't tell anyone other then my spouse and my Inlaws. Now I tell anybody that wants to know I think I've gained confidence to the fact I could care less what they think. And is already now so what? I am learning how to adjust to my new life but it's a fun journey to make. I encourage anyone going into this to keep an open mind and remember the reasons for doing it because it will help get you through the not so fun parts in the very beginning.

teitei636 got a reaction from Catherine Davis in food related feelings of loss
This was a great post as I just went through this yesterday and sharing with my husband how I had finally had my "break-up" moment with food. I'm only 2 weeks and a few days post op, but it hit when I was out with my children, and have not been able to order from any of my favorite places, but felt good about it.
It's definitely a mental game. If you get your thoughts in the right place, it helps. I told my mom yesterday that food is now what it was meant for, substance just to live, not my best friend and closest confidant.

I went home with a 30 day script, but at 1 week appt, doc took me off of them because I'm not at risk for clotting. It seems to just be a part of the routine.

Haven't posted on this thread in a while but I wanted to congratulate all the new sleevers and tell the ones who are about to be sleeved good luck! This is one of the best decisions you could have ever made for yourselves. I was sleeved on April Fools Day this year and am 7 lbs. from goal: 59 lbs. lost since I started my journey this year. I am healthier (no more sleep apnea, GERD, high cholesterol), more energetic, and certainly happier.

teitei636 reacted to JamieLogical in 1 week 3 days post-op--not hungry?
In the early weeks, it's important to just eat on a timer. Your stomach is still healing, so you won't be getting proper "full" or "hunger" feelings. Measure your food and eat on a timer to make sure you are getting in what you need.
