Don't know why after losing 91lbs I am looking at myself daily and making such a big deal of minor imperfections. My brain is having a really difficult time catching up with the rapid weight loss. When I was close to 300lbs I thought I was passing for 220! Now that I am 198 I feel like I am still stuck in an ill fitting size 20 when I can easily wear a juniors size 13... I think a lot has to do with the loose skin on my lower belly which makes everything fit weird! Who else has gone through this and what did you do to help your mind catch up!?
    Thanks!

Of course! I have three kids too 7,3 and 3! Just got all my paperwork sent to insurance today and pre surgery appointment is the 21st. From what I heard the pain isn't as bad as it seems your hubby is going to need to help epically with the newborn. Mine has been pretty quiet but I think he is excited just doesn't want to tell me in fear he might offend me! I know that's weird but I am sure mine as well as yours will be supportive when the time comes. I'm most worried about emotions after surgery and hoping I don't regret my choice when it's completed!

You'll get through it just as the rest of us did. You'll do it a fews days and probably get used to it & it will all be good. This is what you'll have to do for a period of time post op anyway so you might as well get used to it.
I'm about 8 weeks post op, and don't mind the days where I choose to do liquids for more than one meal. Honestly sometimes it's just easier that way. Good luck to you.

Started the pre op diet yesterday...needless to say, was not in the best of moods last night and had a major headache! Today is a new day though. I went in for my pre op appointment this morning and I guess that's the last thing, until my surgery on the 15th. I'm ready to get this thing done! Anyone else ready? ????

Heya, my little elliptical came today. I only did 20 minutes after I assembled it. 5 seated to get used to it, 10 standing, then 5 minutes seated. While I was standing I half of the time held on to the back of a kitchen step stool (like this) so I was a little bent over, which is totally cheating. But it does take some practice (and good grippy shoes -- I couldn't find my sneakers today), changing of foot positions, and getting into a groove so you don't accidentally lock/hyperextend your knees as you do a rotation (but I'm a hyperextending sort of girl, so that may not matter to most people. my joints are really flexible.). It said I did 4.6 miles in 20 minutes, which seems unlikely, but whatever.

I started my Optisfast 2 week diet on Friday and the first few days were VERY hard!!! I got lots of headaches and felt tired. Today is day 3 and after a big sleep in, Im not feeling too bad.
Im allowed to replace 1 Optifast meal for a "real meal" which consists of a palm-size piece of meat or 2 small eggs together with the required 2 cups of low starch vegetables with it (and 2 cups of veggies) with lunch.
I picked up a cookbook from my clinic that has recipes for each "phase" you go through so have made a lovely mixed vegetable Soup and a vegetable curry that has been a nice addition to the Optifast shakes. I also added some vanilla essence to the shakes to make them a bit more "palatable"..lol
I know that alot of pre-op diets vary depending on their surgeon but thats what Im allowed.
Hope that helps and good luck

My only real advice is to start small. I found that the things I did before surgery, Sweating to the Oldies, step aerobics and the like are not what I like now. So don't overbuy any equipment. Try new things and there are free workouts on YouTube (Bloglates, etc). As my fitness level increased my interest in certain forms of exercise changed. For example, I learned along the way that I hate running. I did the Couch25k app and completed three 5ks but don't plan to run one ever again. Be prepared though, when you do find what you love, your home gym will grow. I have an entire room now!

@@AliAqua this actually might be a solution to the expensive cardio equipment. And it's Amazon prime so if I hate it I can send it back! My problem @@appletree is I have used all my FSA money this year because our insurance sucks! High deductibles for everything and I have the "best" plan they offer! Totally understand not taking care of yourself and putting your kids first! I used to go to a gym which is great, I feel motivated, but the closest one is 30 min away so that's an hour of travel time plus at least an hour of workout which is too long to be gone from my already short amount of time with my kids at home. Trying to find fun and new ideas saw a game on amazon where you roll dice and have cards of different workouts to do.. Maybe worth it to mix things up

Thank you both. I have talked my fiancee into selling our pool table so that room can become my home gym. I am probably going to have to invest in a few of those workout DVDS and @@appletree you are doing so well so early on! I never thought of the hulahoop but that is a great workout. Are you using a weighted one or just one you can buy from the toy section at wal-mart? You made a good point about the treadmill though, it would be easy to start with that even soon after surgery which is very important!

My elliptical folds up but realistically, I leave it unfolded alongside of the wall so that it is out of the way. I've done some of the Jillian Michaels DVDs and they are good but they just aren't my thing. The majority of my cardio comes from body weight moves that require no equipment like step ups, split jumps, high knees, jump squats, etc. I also have a jump rope that also gets the heart going. For strength, I started with 3, 5, and 8 lb. dumb bells combined with body weight moves: lunges, squats, bent over row, etc.

Thanks guys! My surgeon requires Optifast which are okay tasting but aren't super filling. I guess I'll keep myself busy so I don't focus on not being able to eat!!! Can't wait to be healthier!

I have a treadmill but it's getting old and it takes up a ton of space. As much as I hate spending money, getting a foldable anything would be worth it.
Get some kettlebells, some bands, hula hoop, jump rope.
But, you can do all kinds of exercises with just using what already exists in your home. Do toe touches, jumping jacks, sit ups, pushups, all the usual stuff that doesn't require any equipment!! You can use a chair to do squats, steps to do some pushups.
