    July sleever!

Best tip is to start a Facebook secret group with all July sleevers. I was sleeved last July and my Facebook support group has been a blessing. We are all going through the same things at the same time - so it's more relevant conversations. Reach out on bariatric pal and find your July peers. Best thing ever. And enjoy the ride. Best decision ever. Down 100 pounds.

    Advice

Premiere Protein was my go-to as well - I thinned it a bit with milk. And I drank a lot of Pho broth in the first week. Don't go crazy with protein bars and snacks or bariatric foods - I ended up giving most of mine away

    In less than 8 hours

Congrats! I'm 11 months out. Best decision of my life. So happy! I had one moment of regret, immediately when I awoke from surgery because of the pain. What got me through that moment was thinking that the pain of being fat for 49 years far outweighed the pain I was experiencing in that moment. Never regretted it since. Good luck!

    Hair loss

From month 4 thru 8. Lots of hair loss. It grows back. Promise. And nothing really helps stop it. Biotin helps new hair growth but you will continue to lose hair while taking it.
  5. I don't know your starting weight but perhaps the goal he suggested is a starting point. Like others said, your goal is YOUR goal. Why are you putting so much energy and emotion into a number the doctor mentioned? Are you going to quit when you get to that number? No. Chin up. Strive toward your goal. And show your MD that you and your body are a weight loss machine.
  6. How many times have you lost weight and regained it - plus more? For those of us who have a lifetime of weight issues, we need help - we need "a tool" to help us along. You're still doing the weight loss "on your own" but with surgery, you'll have a tool to help you. You still have to do the work. You are doing it on your own. I'm 6 days post-op. I had a moment of regret on the first night due to pain - emotions stirred up - what have I done? What did i do? That regret subsided - and just 6 days out, I'm already feeling the weight loss and excited about my future. You've got this! Good luck!

    Protein Bars?

You can buy sample packs of Quest from sites like Bariatric Choice. They are smaller sizes than normal so you can pay a bit less and try a variety.
  8. I'm 6 days post-op and had the same. The gurgling noises will stop in a day or two. Keep taking pain meds. They prescribe them for a reason. Hang in there!

9 days out, 8 oz of soup?

I'm 6 days out and have no problem getting in 8 ounces of liquid (broth or otherwise) at a time. I'm taking small sips - but can take a lot of small sips. I've found myself thirsty a lot, so just trying to address it with water - but typically that's with 8 ounces of water in small sips. No pain or cramping at all.

    Hate chewable multivitamins

Centrum Chewables for Adults aren't bad. They aren't those nasty bariatric chalky kind. More like a Skittle

    July sleevers?

Tomorrow July 20 at 2:45. Nervous and excited. Anesthesiologist just called to cover the details of the procedure. Tomorrow! Shit just got real! Blessed to have a surgeon who requires only a 2-day clear liquid pre-op diet. Granted I'll be on liquids for two weeks after. Get to keep my nail polish on too. Anesthesiologist said that nail polish today isn't an issue. Technology can see through it. All the best to those whose procedures are this week. I just keep thinking that the pain experienced from the procedure won't compare to the depth of the pain experienced living a lifetime overweight. A new day!
