Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!
My surgeon has the same advice. I was was an avid wine/beer drinker pre- surgery (especially around the holidays). I am only 4 weks out, so no alcohol yet, but man do I look forward to a glass of wine someday lol I have family members with a sleeve and RNY and they both drink post-op. Aside from not drinking as much to getting drunk much faster they have had no other "complications"

Still feeling no restriction
Wait. So you FEEL like you could eat that much or you have actually sat down 4 weeks post-op and eaten that much?

5 weeks post-op and can still fit into all of my "old" clothes
Also forgot to add, I agree with you saying most of us don't see ourselves accurately. I can remember looking in the mirror and thinking "wow I look great!" and then later seeing a photo of myself from that event or whatever, and cringing thinking, "omg that's what I really looked like????" From the sounds of posts I read, it sounds like the struggle is real with this one, no matter what stage pre or post op.

Yes, I am in therapy already, thank you I just talked to my sister and she was so encouraging. She laughed and said, "STOP paying attention to the scale, you look amazing!" That made me tear up. Ironic thing- I DONT EVEN OWN A SCALE lmao- I just weigh myself once a week when I go to my moms house. lol

5 weeks post-op and can still fit into all of my "old" clothes
I don't want to complain, but I need a little motivation today. I am almost 5 weeks post-op. I am only down around 40lbs, including the large amount of weight I lost pre-op. I am 5 weeks out and only down 26lbs since my surgery date. During the past 10 years of my life, I have fluctuated between 275 -350lbs (going up and down and up and down and up and down). I am stll not under the 275 mark, and all of my "old" clothes are still fitting me. Granted I can squeeze into some of the smaller pairs of jeans- the fact is almost all of them are still the 22/24 I was smooshing into at 350lbs. Everyone keeps telling me that I am looking great and that they notice my losses, but I just don't see it. I still feel the same as I did at 350 (minus the fact I have a ton more energy). I am getting in all of my Protein and liquids each day, not going over calores/fat/salt etc and exercising. I know I am doing everything I can, and I realize 40lbs is amazing- I just wish my mind reflected that. I used to lose weight in my face first, and this time that isn't happening, so my face still looks the same to me- massive double chin and all.

What's everyone eating for thanksgiving?
I will *STILL* be on pureed only foods. So obviously mashed potatoes and we make a special family recipe for dressing (ie stuffing) and I plan on throwing a few bites that of that into the food processor and enjoying that for a treat. Otherwise I plan on eating normal, getting my Protein in and liquids

Time off work - selfish?
I cannot like or thumbs up this comment enough. THis past year I made the decision to BE SELFISH for once in my life, and I finally had my surgery. BEST DECISION EVER. This thinking has transformed so many areas of my life and I am actually so at peace and so happy for once. Best part- you can take FMLA and you don't have to tell your work the exact reason why. I know if you "need" to tell work something, you can always say you are having a hernia repair or something. I understand, not wanting to tell them why you are leaving and the bottom line is, it's none of their business, they don't need to know!

Endoscope-painful?
I was completely knocked out. My throat hurt for a day or so afterwards, but otherwise no pain from it at all.

What is making my protein drinks foamy?
Beer foam I love. Protein shake foam, not so much. I cannot figure out if it's the Protein powder or the fairlife milk that is causing it. It seems to be exasperated when I add ice into the blender to crush it. It's getting to the point where I don't even want to drink anything because it's grossing me out. I still have a lot of Protein shakes in my future, and still another 2 weeks of liquids and purees only. HELP! (LOL) p.s. I am using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Unflavored Protein Powder & Protein drinks.

I hate protein shakes
I use Unflavored unjury Protein powder. I mix it in everything (I am still on pureed only stage). I make iced coffee smoothies with it, I put it in Applesauce, COttage cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Hummus, Soups, Canned Chicken/Mayo (pureed of course). It's a great way to get in protein and it has ZERO flavor.

Stalling out already...
Up your protein

Things we can't wait to happen seem to take the longest.
It goes so fast, even though it goes so slow. I remember all this planning up to my surgery and then all of the sudden is was like "oh crap, it's after this weekend!" and then I felt like I didn't have anything ready. LOL On the day of the surgery I wasn't nervous. I was feeling my nerves start to set in (even though I WAS SO EXCITED) but the surgeon was running ahead of schedule, so as soon as I checked in, they quick swept me off and before I knew it, I was out. I didn't have time to even think about it. Best. Decision. Ever. I know, I'm only a month post op- but so far NO REGRETS!!!!!!! I already am feeling AMAZING. Edit: DO your before pics! My mom was going to do them at the hospital, but I was taken back so quickly and into surgery we didn't even get a chance! That may be my only regret. lol

Elliptical - How long did you last your first time? lol
I have started working out on my Elliptical. We are supposed to be getting 30 minutes of exercise daily (I have been walking). However with the elliptical, well it's pretty obvious in less than 30 seconds that it has been 20+ years since I have actually "worked out". LOL. I was following the training settings on mine and their recommendation is to start with 20 minutes the first time, and do that for 5 days and then the following week go for 25 minutes.. and keep increasing over the weeks until you reach 40 minutes. Well I have everything I can do to even get through 1 song on my playlist. LOL I'm assuming I should just start there and go? 5 minutes this week and try for 7 or 10 minutes per time the following week? So there is my confession and someday my inspiring starting point: "The first time I got on my elliptical, I couldn't even finish the first song on my playlist".

Why can I eat so much soup?

Eating, Drinking, and Time In Between?
My drs office "rule" is 15 min before and 15 minutes after

Do you really need a hospital buddy?
Nope. As soon as I was up from recovery my mom went home. The nurses take care of you and you will be busy eating and walking and sleeping lol

Why can I eat so much soup?
I am still in pureed only stage. I feel like when i have mashed potatoes or something I can't eat a whole bunch... but when i have broth soups it is like drinking water and i can get a lot more in.

Nausea with Premier protein
I haven't had problems with unjury so far. Premier Protein is a protein concentrate- meaning you are only absorbing about 12g of the protein in each shake, not the entire 30g. Unjury is a pure protein isolate, so you are absorbing every gram of protein in each scoop. I have the unflavored and mix it with EVERYTHING (cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, Soups, smoothies, etc)

Pureed foods struggle.
Also have had pureed canned chicken/mayo and tonight tried hummus but that made me sooo sick

Pureed foods struggle.
My diet was advanced to purees 2 weeks post off (first 2 weeks were liquids). I have been on purees for awhile now and still have until December 4 before they will advance my diet anymore. Where can I find recipe ideas? I am so sick of Soups (which always end up cold i eat so slowly) and smoothies. I have been eating cottage cheese, ricotta cheese/spaghetti sauce and refried beans/salsa purees with unflavored Protein powder. I am finding my mind wandering to other foods because I am so sick of the same foods every single day. Ideas or other threads with recipes? TIA
