  1. You should get some unflavored Protein powder (like Unjury) and mix it in with EVERYTHING you eat. It is SO IMPORTANT to be getting in at least 60g of protein each day. You HAVE to focus on getting in the protein.
  2. That was actually my motivation for getting an elliptical- my knees! It doesn't bother them at all (and I have a partial ACL tear in one of them). I knew if I bought an elliptical I would be more keen on using it vs going to the gym. I'm a single mom with 4 kids and there is no way I could find the time to go to the gym- however the elliptical is there for me at 3am, 5am, 1pm or 10pm- whenever I can work it in. I also have found that now instead of turning to food- I turn to exercise. If the kids or life are stressing me out- I go do 30 minutes on the elliptical LOL It feels great, clears my head and best of all, my kids get excited and cheer me on (so they are SEEING good habits now).
  3. Forgot the final weigh-in. Made it down to 164. So go me!!!!
  4. 40 minutes on the elliptical every day. I started at 5 minutes at a time, and each week added another 5 minutes. I am pretty happy with doing 40 minutes for now, as I have upped the intensity of the 40 minutes instead of adding longer to my time for now.
  5. in the midst of a slow stall... today's weigh-in 173.4
  6. I have noticed this going out to eat. THe other day I was at a 'bar' for a luncheon and there was literally nothing on their menu I could eat. EVERYTHING was deep fried. I finally opted for the only thing that wasn't fried- a hamburger without a fun.. but it was so greasy.. I ended up throwing it all up shortly after. It's only the second time I've thrown up post-op, but won't be eating at that place again. LOL
  7. My first NSV happened this past weekend. I was at my grandparents house and sat down in their dining room table chairs and where normally my butt would have spilled over on both sides, I had a good 2 inches to spare. I audibly said, "omg wow!" haha I wasn't expecting it, and it was great.
  8. ... your kids are stressing you out, so you jump on the elliptical for 35 minutes ... you are having trouble waking up in the morning and instead of reaching for the coffee, you go work out. I used to HATE to exercise. (When we were younger my mom would punish us by making us exercise). I just had these revelations this past weekend when casually mentioning how funny this was to my sister, that I was loving exercising so much and using it to replace my bad eating habits and she made the comment, "That's when you know you really have made a lifestyle change!" SO it got me thinking, what other things have you all noticed where you thought the same things?
  9. 12/14/2015 Weigh-in: 276.4
  10. Have you tried unjury unflavored protein powder? You can mix it in everything!!!
  11. You need to get in at least 60g of protein a day or you won't lose. That should be your only focus. Protein and liquids.
  12. The only rule I have broken 7 weeks post op was tgat I went to a concert and had a beer. My surgeon says wait a year post-op to drink. Lol. Only rule I beoke though Keeping on pureed foods for 6 weeks wasn't as hard as I thought at all.
  13. I was down 49lbs at my 6 week post op. Surgeon said I was having better than norm weight loss. So whatever that means... lol when I see before and after pics of others I feel like I am losing like a snail. I still don't see a difference in my appearance, although I already feel like a new person
  14. I was just taken off pureed foods at 6 weeks post-op. Fried foods are still a no-no until 12 weeks for me. Granted that is even if I eat them again. Can you find some non fried protein options?
  15. I am in. I do 30 a day on the elliptical... adding 5 more minutes each week.
  16. 280.6 for my weigh-in today
  17. Thank you!!!!! If I am not wearing my hoodie the weight loss is much more noticeable. That hoodie was "tight" the day of surgery and now it's getting too big, it's about to get donated (except it's like my security blanket LOL)
  18. That sounds fairly "normal" for a recovery. I was the same, minus the fact I had a hernia repair and it took me FOREVER to finish drinking or anything. Now that I am on pureed foods, I notice I get full MUCH faster than if I am eating a Soup. I had sweet potatoes for my thanksgiving meal- and couldn't even eat 1/2 of a piece of one mushed up and I got that "omg I am so full I am sick" feeling. I HATE that feeling.
  19. Exactly 6 weeks post-op and down my first 50lbs today! WOOOHOOO I'm 1/3 of the way to my goal. I don't notice a huge difference in how I look yet, (but man do I notice a HUGE difference in how I feel and my energy level already).
  20. Wow awesome! I can notice a big difference already WAY TO GO!!!!!!!
  21. Yay, I FINALLY bought my own scale so I won't miss weigh-in this week. So excited for tomorrow morning
  22. I use this.. almost 5 weeks post op and no itching. (And mormally I am an itcher lol)
  23. Darn hit enter too soon and cannot edit on mobile. I was also going to add that for myself personally I am trying to hold off on drinking as long as possible. Right now at 4 weeks post op I am still dealing with head hunger and feeling like I still want to emotional eat. I am an ex smoker and now working on becomming an ex food addict. I do not want to fill the voids with alcohol, so for myself, I am choosing to hold off on alcohol until I can get my mental game to a much better place.
