  1. Hi my name is Jenny and I'm 30 years old. I've struggled with my weight since I was diagnosed with pcos at 15 years old. In the last couple of years it has gotten out of hand. I am currently the heaviest I've ever been which is both scary and disappointing. After months of Internet research and many failed attempts of diet and exercise I decided things really needed to change and I definitely needed to take my life back! My surgery date is set for 16th October. If anyone has similar dates I am interested in having a support buddy who is going to be going through or has been through the same journey.

  4. Hi there, My surgery is for the 16th Oct. I'd also love to have people to share the experience with.
  5. Hi keentraveller & purz59, Did you get your dates yet? I have 30 more days til my surgery. I start my preop diet on the 2nd.
  6. I'm from Brisbane in Australia. Mboyd74 - there's less than a month left, you feeling nervous/excited??
  7. Yes I also have to go on a preop liquid diet for 2 weeks. And I've also tried to prepare myself by having meal replacement shakes for breakfast and lunch, it's been very hard and I've felt like I'm starving by dinner time so it's not going very well. So I have no idea how going to get through the 2 weeks. I guess I'll have to discuss strategies with the dietitian. Where are you from?
  8. Hi Lara, I can't believe it's only 5 weeks away although it seems to be going a little slower than I like. Are you excited/nervous/scared?? I'm just excited at the moment but I believe that may change the closer I get. Do you have to do a pre op diet??
  9. Hi Smileygal, congrats on your big step. I'm glad to hear your surgery went well and your recovering nicely at home. My surgery is set for Oct 16th. Can't come soon enough but feels like ages away.
  10. Yeah I understand about people judging, and even though they might think it's the easy way out its not really. You still need to put in the hard work. It's also hard keeping it a secret, and being able to trust someone enough to talk about what your going through. You can always talk to me if you need to. I might not being going through it just yet but I will be. ????
  11. Oh wow that's excellent. You lose weight a bit more rapidly with the gastric bypass than the gastric sleeve right? I think that's what my surgeon said. Have you started eating normal again?? Did you tell many people about your surgery?? I decided that I was only telling my husband, my parents and my sister.
  12. Oh wow that's amazing! You've lost so much weight in such a short time. Your still in recovery mode right?? My surgery is only 56 days away! I'm excited about it. I've started optifast for breakfast and lunch just so I can try lose some extra weight before the big day and so far I'm struggling with the hunger. I think most of it is head hunger that I can't seem to get rid of.
  13. Thanks Andrea, likewise if you need support. How is it going for you so far? How was your recovery?
  14. Hi Andrea! I think I'm most nervous about being in the small percentage that it doesn't work for. That's a scary thought. My Surgeon has told me that I need to go on the liquid diet 2 weeks prior to surgery too as well as 2 - 3 weeks after surgery depending on my recovery. I have no idea how I'm going to get through it. I'll have to try to be really strict on myself.
  15. Thank you. How long ago were you sleeved? How is your journey going??
  16. I would've been very tempted to have taken the surgery next week but I can see why you didn't. It is harder when you need to take a bit of time off work especially with giving work little notice. 7 weeks will go so fast anyway. It'll be surgery day before you know it. What makes you most nervous about having the surgery?
  17. Thanks for replying. At the moment I'm very excited my nerves will most likely kick in closer to the date. It's only 2 more months away for me. Even less for you!
