    My Texas Sleevers

U might make a suggestion to it here somewhere. There might already be one.

    My Texas Sleevers

My hubby is from orange and has lots of family down there. I go to Beaumont every Tuesday (not today) for my Mary Kay meetings.
  3. I see A LOT of people complaining or whining or just having trouble on their 10-30 day pre op diets. It is ok to whine and complain but just be ready, the pre op is a walk in the park compared to what happens after surgery. Pre: you still get food...texture and taste...post: nope! You are on clear and full liquids for at least 2 weeks. And u can't have carbonation (ever) or caffeine (for at least 30 days) no sugar either so what u drink is somewhat limited. Not to mention it's hard as hell to drink anything because of all the swelling inside. I was sent to the er twice in the first 3 weeks for iv fluids because I couldn't force anywhere near 64 oz down a day. And 33 days post op i still don't get near enough. And also prepare yourself to be extremely depressed and cranky and to hate others who can still eat what they want when they want, family included! You do still get hungry and have hunger pains. If u read u won't or were told u won't because they remove the portion of the stomach that produces the hunger hormone ghrelin or whatever or it's only 'head hunger', WRONG! You get hungry I promise! Once u can finally taste wonderful precious food again it's only 2 oz at a time!...for awhile... and that's if u can handle it, the sleeve is very picky especially at first. Try now to go a whole day eating 3-6 2 oz. portions, it sucks! They also don't always tell u ur sleeve may only prefer hot or cold for awhile. That limits u yet again. People always seem to make this surgery seem like unicorns eat rainbows and fart glitter but it's more like mules eating metal and farting spikes! I think people should be honest with those who are considering surgery, it's a major change, FOREVER! I'm not trying to convince anyone not to do it because supposedly it gets better. I'm just speaking honestly from my own experience and if I knew then what I've learned now...I'd have changed my mind. So enjoy the pre op diet as much as u can, it goes downhill from there.
  4. Still not feeling better about this at 6 weeks out and that may never change. I'm just dealing with it because I don't have any choice but to. And I didn't say anything to scare people, only to be honest so they know some of the things no one wants to tell u before hand. I wasn't told a lot of things, things that would've made me change my mind. I still say I'd rather be fat and happy every day! It is what it is....

    Newcomer

Hi I'm Christina. I was sleeved 6/15/15. I've lost 24lbs and 11 1/2" so far. I've had a few complications that have had me pretty down and depressed. Apparently this is supposed to get better eventually.

    Reality Check Please

This is the problem I'm having. I don't feel I'm doing well enough and can't see the progress. No matter what old pics I look at or clothes I wear I see that its different but I don't SEE the difference in real time and I don't feel it either. VSG 6/15/15 WL 28 LBS
  7. I quit smoking over 2 years ago. I've been having an urge to smoke for about a week now and its getting harder to say no. I don't necessarily want a cigarette, I keep looking at the electronic hookahs that don't have tar or nicotine. I just want the motion I guess. Any suggestions how to get my mind off this?
  8. I was ok'd early too because I got extremely depressed on the liquids in week 2 because it hurt every time I ate or drank.
  9. This is supposedly normal. Its got something to do with the swelling and the trauma of the surgery. It takes a few weeks to heal so its sensitive. Mine hurt for at least 3-4 weeks. And at 8 days out u shouldn't be eating anything but liquids and liquid consistency anyway I believe.

    Post-op day 2 and regretting

The largest incision (usually 2nd under left breast) is where they bring the stomach out and it can hurt for up to 4 weeks or so. I had to wear an abdominal binder for weeks 2-4 almost 24 hrs a day. I still do if I stretch too much. Not sure if they did things different for ur surgery or if this is a different issue but that's my experience.

    Post-op day 2 and regretting

You're not supposed to but ur also not supposed to drink caffeine, eat pasta, rice or bread or stuff with sugar along with a bunch of other things many people try it to see if they can handle it and if they can they do. Not recommended tho.
  16. I still had to go thru appointments with psych( which was pointless)and nutritionist and stress test and seminar but I did all that pretty much in 2 days. I only had 45 days from start to finish.
  17. That was the best way I could describe it lol good luck with everything ☺
  18. I really appreciate all of ur responses and that I am not be scolded for my honesty here as I have been other places. It actually raises my spirits knowing I'm possibly helping others and getting encouraging words too.
  19. I for one am finding I should be the poster child for 'if it could go wrong, it will' I had complication after my tonsillectomy in February too. I understand not every one will have problems but I wish more people would've shared beforehand. I really wish I would've found this app earlier too. I had the best attitude going in. I was more excited for this surgery than anything. But that changed immediately after surgery unfortunately.
  20. @@OutsideMatchInside thank you. I find all the people who are so successful in this try to keep people who are like me from scaring others. And they downplay my misery. I pray this turns around for me I really do but until then this is what I'm dealing with. Ive thought about this a lot for years and we finally got insurance coverage and that was that I went from consult to surgery in 45 days, could've been less but I got sidetracked. I second guessed this decision everyday and still do but I did it anyway. Now here I am. I am happy u are doing well and hope u all the success possible.
  21. I'm glad you all have have good experiences, but I am still thinking I'd rather go back to being happy and if that meant being fat forever so be it. I don't voice this to get attention or sympathy (not that you all have done that) but so others know it isn't always the way your experience has been. And simply put, if the pre op is difficult get ready is all I'm saying. I don't read enough posts that list the types of problems or feelings I've had. They are all possible but in all my research I got all the good reviews nothing about the harsh possibilities I have had. I'm just putting it out there. ????
