Happy November everyone. This is the month that we have all been waiting for. Good luck everyone.

My surgery is next Monday (the 9th). I was originally scheduled for 9/24 but had to be postponed because my stomach was full of ulcers. I have Erosive Gastritis so the lining is wearing away. I cannot wait to have a "normal but smaller" stomach. Hoping the sleeve goes well, but I am prepared if there's too much damage and need bypass. One week left of liquids. I bet this week flies by.
Who's with me in November and where is your surgery? What are your feelings as we're now into November? liquid diet stage yet (if required)?
I'm at NYU in Manhattan. No time yet though. I'm excited. Liquids since last week, but liquids with one light meal since September because of the ulcers.

For those of you waiting for an appt at Carolinas Weight Management... if you know that your insurance requires a medically supervised diet then you can go ahead and start that program with them while you wait for your seminar and surgeon appt. That's what my husband and I have done because I wanted to get started asap. My sister in law got sleeved with Southeast and has had great results

GoodiDre, with southeast bariatrics you have the option to do the seminar online as long as you have a passing grade. Then once you take the test then you fax in the application and copy of insurance card and they call you the next day and my appointment was about 3 weeks out after they called me back.

Dr. Carl Lowe in Charlotte is amazing along with staff. We prayed together prior to surgery. His bedside manners are superior.

For me it was realizing how big I really was, as an 18 year old 5'8" girl I shouldn't weigh more then my 6'4" 50 year old father

Mine wasn't related to an event, or a trigger weight, or anything like that. I was just tired of being fat. And tired of saying, "If I can't do it on my own by this time next year..."
I guess what I'm saying was that it was a slow process, rather than an event.
I think it was more outside events (e.g. getting a recommendation for a surgeon, realizing it could be done, realizing...) Keep in mind this was 2005 when the only WLS you really heard of was RNY and it was far from mainstream knowledge.

Which procedure are you thinking of having. sleeve? bypass? Or the lap band?
