Joymarie333 reacted to Sajijoma in I've been approved!
@@Babbs I'm waiting on the scheduler to call me back. She sent me a message this morning and I just checked my e-mail and found it called her back, but she wasn't there. I'm hoping it'll be soon.

Joymarie333 reacted to Mrs.Hansen88 in 4 1/2 mths post op- HALLOWEEN! :-) PICS!
So I am coming up on five months post-op now... (Surgery date June 10th) I had VSG done and I have never been happier. I have had ZERO complications, no throwing up, now problems drinking fluids, no adverse reactions to any type of foods (except of course anything with too high fat or sugar), and I just broke through today a seven week stall I have been in!!!
This past weekend we had a halloween party and for the first time in my life I was able to buy a costume that wasn't PLUS SIZE and it felt great! :-) I'm just not used to buying size medium anything still! So here's some before and afters.. For the first time in my life I actually felt like a pretty girl at the party instead of hiding in the crowd!
Starting weight: 262
Surgery weight: 224.9
Current weight: 168
Height: 5'5"
Pants starting: 22
Shirts starting: 2XL/3XL
Pants current: 8
Shirts current: M/L

Joymarie333 reacted to Babbs in Loose skin fear!
Unfortunately, at 280 pounds, you will have some loose skin. I'm not being rude, it's just a reality. Most of us have excess skin to contend with. Some more, some less. You may be able to exercise some areas to tone them up because you're young enough, but honestly there is only so much we can do sometimes. Sometimes our skin just gets so stretched out from the losing and gaining, there's no going back. But there is always surgery
I wasn't too concerned about it. I just wanted to be healthy again. Now that I am, I am considering a Tummy Tuck in a year. Even if it doesn't happen, I'm thrilled with my results and how I look and feel! The tummy tuck would just be the icing on the cake
Good luck to you! I really hope the skin issue isn't enough to deter you from surgery! I really believe you would be happy with your results! Skin and all!

I'm still a work in progress! Almost 3 months post op, and I'm down 60#. @ 5'8"- 179lbs. The sleeve is the best decision I've EVER made, by far. More to come!

Worst case would be doing it over and if you do just keep positive and know it's worth it. It stinks I know but hopefully they will get it together and be done! Good luck!

We have to do our homework. My surgeon told me to call my insurance several times and ask about my benefits.
But if your surgeon has preformed this surgery and has dealt with insurance companies, they have come across common criteria that the insurances require. They should've been at least somewhat informed and guided you in that direction.
The program that I am in requires 7 monthly meetings, a psychologist eval, 2 nut visits, food logs, tests
And monthly weigh ins. This is if your insurance requires it or not.

Unfortunately you have to be your own advocate. You need to know your insurance beforehand and follow their requirements to the letter. If your policy states you have to have the weigh-ins and do face to face then you will probably have to start over. Sorry to hear you have been spinning your wheels so to speak.
You can call your insurance and ask for a copy of the coverage for WLS and then you will know what is required if your surgery center doesn't.
Good luck!!

Joymarie333 got a reaction from wildflowergirl in How long does a peer to peer take????
yes I hope so just waiting. I hate waiting my bmi is 45 and I have sleep apnea and I'm on medication for a low thyroid. I qualify. The insurance company just want to be difficult -
Joymarie333 reacted to wildflowergirl in How long does a peer to peer take????
Can you just do another month and then resubmit? I was denied when I tried before because I had no co-morbidities with a 35 BMI My Doctor would not do a peer to peer review. So now 3 years later my BMI is 40 and I have Co-morbidities so I started the process over in April (in the process of doing the 6 months supervised weight loss that insurance requires) I will be done October 5th and (fingers crossed) will get approved.

So sorry you were denied. Sounds like something easily fixed by a phone call from your Dr .'s office. Did your Dr office give you any guidance about what you should do next?

I hear ya. I'm 5'4" and weighed 244. You're already beautiful inside and out. This is a temporary delay. In a few short months you'll be in a completely different happy space and looking even more fabulous!

Joymarie333 reacted to muzical1 in Cheated on liquid diet
I slipped a couple times during my pre-op diet. But I was a saint for the 7-8 days that preceded surgery. Didn't want the surgeon finding any food in my digestive system. It's hardest the first week, afterwards you will see it's not as bad.

. I called Aetna today they said that my application was still pending but it was on the commissioners desk and I guess he's the very last one that signs off on it so they said I should have an answer within 24 hours I'm just praying for a approval tomorrow because only God knows how I feel in this body for many years! I never thought it would get to this point but life happens and sometimes you just get to a point where you need help! Feeling overwhelmed and depressed but I know better days are to come!!!
