  1. I saw my dr on Dec 1 for my pre-op appointment. After about a week I called my insurance to see if they had any info. They said the Drs office hadn't submitted my info to them. Come to find out my pre certification process changed with my insurance on Dec 1st and the Drs submitted it to the wrong cert department. The old department couldn't transfer to the new company because of Hippa. Ugh. I frantically called my dr (I'm starting my pre-op diet on Monday 21st) for them to re-submit my info to the correct pre cert department. Thankfully less than 24hrs later I have been approved.. Shew!! Starting the pre-op diet being approved is going to make it so much easier (in my mind) Woo hoo! Early Christmas for me -cross post-

  3. I have a hiatal hernia that will be fixed during my sleeve surgery. My surgeon said I may have to have a revision later if it gets worse. They should do an EDG to check the health of your esophagus and severity of your GErd. He will know for sure what direction to go on then.
  4. hPB does count but he is correct that there has to be 2. HBP High Cholesterol sleep apnea Pre-diabetes pCOS copd
  5. I just found out that my insurance has had my paper work since Dec 4. Still no word and they said previously that approval would take 48 hrs..I'm a nervous nelly
  6. My dr is having me take a multi vitamin because of the lack of nutrients. Maybe you are allergic to something in the protein drinks that's causing your stomach issues. I'd talk to your Drs about changing it to something different.
  7. @@songsmith The classes were held once a month in a group setting. We went over a lot of material, like how to read labels, what our food triggers are and how to avoid them. How to handle eating out, supplements, after surgery depression, emotional stress on your family. They gave us a folder and each month we added material to it, so now I have every class and all the information to re-read. The last class was a nurse from the bariatric floor that came in to discuss what to expect at the hospital. He also had us meet twice with a Nut, exercise physician and have a psych evaluation. I'm truly thankful my surgeons practice does this. I'm completely ready for this! I wish his info was online...I would give it to you Cindy
  8. I'm not sure why my surgeon "pencil ins" my surgery prior to approval. It's actually driving me crazy. My mind is set on Jan 4th, my pre-op apt with my pcp is set, my pre-op liquid diet is to begin Dec 21, my pre surgery blood work is ordered and I'm still not approved. Ugh..
  9. Sorry I'm not much help but I know when my husband sodium levels are low he has major leg cramps. You should call your doctor and tell them your symptoms. They may have you take something.
  10. Scheduled for Jan 4!! Waiting on final approval. I start my pre-op liquid diet on Dec 21st after a long 7 months of classes, tests and Drs appointments.
  11. First consult June 2015, sleeve scheduled for Jan 4, 2016
  12. I am due to have surgery Jan 4th... Due to start pre-op a week from Monday and I'm still not approved or denied. I've called my insurance they don't have anything yet. I call my dr and they say I have nothing to worry about. My dr requires the pre-op diet to be one of 2 choices. Both of which cost $140 for the 2 weeks. I would really like to know for sure before I order the stuff.. so I guess there's no question, just venting...ugh
  13. I start my Pre-op on the 21st and I'm fearing the same.
  14. ???? I'm in... Getting sleeve Jan 4th
  15. If you need help staying strong through the holidays , I'm here!! We're just a day behind each other. My pre-op starts the 21st. Oh joy
  16. I think the worst for me is the silence after you tell someone you're about to have surgery. I can just imagine what they are thinking.
  17. Get the my fitness pal ap. It will help you keep track of your sodium, cal, carbs and protein.
  18. I thought you're surgery was soon. It will be very hard for you to maintain and not gain weight for 5 months without making changes. A Low carb high Protein diet is what my doctor had me on. I lost just 8lbs in 7 months. You can do this
  19. HBP is one of the comorbidity conditions that will aid in getting your surgery approved. I'm on 3 different meds and my pressure was still a little high at the Drs. In a week it will be enough for the meds to work.
  20. So glad you have a second option.
  21. I was excited to hear that I can have coffee in the hospital
  22. Coffee is a clear liquid but caffeine is not recommended. I've been told decaf only.
  23. I'm am scheduled for surgery in Jan 4th. My surgeon went over the procedure with me and what will happen after. The day after the procedure I will have a Upper GI to make sure there is no leaks. I can't drink anything until the results come back. I understand the reasoning behind it, it just seems like not many have to have one. Will you have an upper GI after surgery?
  24. I also love Premiere Protein! The chocolate is my favorite. However you may not be able to tolerate it as well after surgery. My Nut said to wait till about 6 months Post Op to try them again.
