I agree that not all fat people who seek WLS are food addicts, but I can tell you that without a doubt, not everyone who is on a month long liquid diet considers chewing and spitting.
I never considered it once as a fat person. It's extremely dangerous and a very slippery slope towards a real eating disorder. When you chew (or lick), your digestive system starts producing acid in anticipation of real food hitting your tummy in a few moments. When that doesn't happen, the excess acid is still hanging out with nothing to break down, so being bored, it works it's magic on the lining of your stomach. This could be ulcer territory you are headed into.
Chewing and spitting is also a mild form of bulimia.
    No LOL about that.

I did this twice after my surgery. But, I heard this is dangerous because it can lead to bulimia. Try to avoid this.

The frozen Pickle Juice sounds like a good idea.

No offense or judgement intended at all!! I was just making an observation. I definitely didn't mean to imply you would harm your pup.

Yeah, it's a bit on the gross side but I don't think 4 bites will necessarily kill her or anything. She is still breathing and acting like normal since you seem so concerned. ????. She also got part of the fat trim that I won't chew on... because I personally find it gross. To each their own. Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App

@@LipstickLady Premastication is a practice that has been around, probably since women have been having babies. As for giving it to the dog, my dog eagerly accepts the gristle from beef Jerky that I've chewed but won't swallow.
Of course, he has been known to bury animals to tenderize them before digging them up again and eating them later on. Now that is something to get your stomach upset, and it does every time for him. But it doesn't stop him from doing it.

BAM! Lightbulb - I' going to freeze the pickle juice and crunch on the ice from now on!
I've been exercising regularly and am discovering new ways to occupy my time, thanks. I know what I did wasn't protocol, but I was looking for feedback from others who did the same as myself, without judgement.
Yikes, a room full of people spitting out food sounds awful.

What were some of the things you did to help support through your transition with out having to buy a new bra every month?

Firstly...I'm nearly four years post banded. Just a couple of weeks till my anniversary. I've been at goal for around three years give or take so I absolutely consider myself a vet though not necessarily one of long term duration.
So...this week has been both a bit of a challenge and also a great joy. The joy part is that I'm with my friends, family, and loved ones and I'm doing a spectacular stay-cation home in NYC. A little background is that my boyfriend owns a food tour company and is obviously very knowledgeable about food and is a huge foodie as part of his job and interests. And that is often the challenge...especially this week.
We decided to do a global food tour and in tandem, head out of Manhattan to explore the outer boroughs and eat foods from different ethnicities. So we went to Greenpoint Brooklyn which has a large Polish population and ate Polish food. We went to Staten Island and had Spanish food, we went to Arthur Avenue in The Bronx which is a well known Italian enclave. We've done Brazilian, Malaysian, Jewish delicatessen (along with movies on Christmas Day), and we're still heading to Astoria Queens for Greek food.
I got on the scale this morning and am exactly the same weight I was a week ago when we started this foray.
And what does this tell us? For me, it tells me that as long as I watch my volume, and make good choices, I can eat anything and live the life I want even when my interests still gravitate towards food. The difference now is that I don't need or want to eat to excess. A little bit goes a long way. Last night was my biggest challenge. My danger food is Pasta. I ordered the house special...Nona's meatballs and spaghetti. Suffice to say the spaghetti was perfectly al dente. Chewy deliciousness. I had about three or four small forkfuls, and let the remaining three dinner companions go to town on the rest of it. This worked so well as I got in my chance to enjoy this food and still not give in to it.
I know everyone has to approach living post WLS the best way they know how. For me, this works. My fervent hope is that I'm posting the same when I'm ten years post banded. Today I think I can make it.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all my friends on BP.

I already have a ticker in my signature and would like to add:
    HW - 368
    SW - 332
    CW - See ticker
    GW - 175
But when I go to save it it errors and says I can have 0 URLs in my signature. Other than the ticker I'm not adding a URL. I'm pretty sure I've seen other sigs with both tickers and text lines... how do I do it?

That was a really crappy way for your husband to skulk away. I am very proud of you for handling it and staying on track. I could only guess how hard that would be.
Just remember, you are worth more than he was willing to give. Keep focusing on yourself! You deserve it!

I was a school bus driver for awhile and I can tell you that teachers who are silly and enjoy their students are always attractive and it has nothing to do with physical attributes. I've met many beautiful, ugly people and I've met even more who are homely but extremely beautiful.
